It’s that he’s not an idiot, he sees through her like a glass door. He knows he’s the dean’s son and that people will try to use him – didn’t he mention something like that in an earlier comic? And raidah obviously wants something with the pathetic attempt at small talk.
And maybe Sarah has mentioned their conflict at some point in passing during their relationship, too.
Being “actual nice” is very possibly the best possible own for the situation. I like it when Sarah gets petty and involved in drama, also. It’s cathartic.

Not a QC reference, it’s a trope about a couple looking for a third (more specifically, about a het couple bothering a woman, assuming/hoping she’s bi and into 3somes). I only heard it as a joke, but it was already doing rounds before the QC strip.
I think one of them would hate it but it would be a nightmare for the other… which one depending on how much Raidah would skew toward trying to warp Walky’s behavior to fit her image vs. trying to warp her own behavior so Walky doesn’t catch on to how terrible a match they are. I have to admit it could be hilarious. But I really don’t want that for Walky.
Raidah on the other hand can make like many species of woody plant and self-pollinate.

She shows pleasant courtesy to someone who would use the tiniest bit of confusion or anger to break this couple up and get Sarah flunked out of school. They present a united front of confidence and coupledom.
