“…and some goo gone?”
Product used for removing adhesive residues and paint
So, it’s a brandname product… that makes much more sense.
Who’s the ava this time, Plasma?
I *believe* its Agent Xero from “The Modifyers” wiki page
…Why is there an entire wiki for that?
Because of Zone, Bayo. Because Zone doesn’t just ruin your childhood, Zone ruin childhoods you’ll never even get to have. Because where Zone walks, there follows a very considerable portion of the internet.
I wish I didn’t know what the hell you were talking about.
What are y’all guys looking at? *Looks to the left* What’s there?
With that avatar I don’t think you need to ask.
It’s a paint/glue remover! So she’ll clean the sign and return it, presumably.
She better be careful….depending upon the face of that sign, she may wipe off more then the graffiti…if the sign was silk-screened, she may take off the sign’s message as well…..and if the message was ‘stickied on’, that might come off as well…
Nah dude, they tagged the back side of the sign.
Another day in the life of AMAZIGIRL!!!
Being a hero is so glamorous sometimes.
I can hear the theme music playing already.
Must not sing Batman theme…….
I thought the same thing
spider-pig, spider-pig, does what-ever-spider-pig-does..~
Can it swing from a web?
No it can’t, it is pigged-out fat!
I have to wonder if she just carries goo-gone with that wrench or if Amazi-Girl made a trip to Wal-Mart on the way over to Danny.
Wouldn’t be the worst-dressed person at Wal-Mart late at night.
Perhaps the best.
Well, better than that one guy who made a meth lab in Wall-Mart.
Okay, I just have two questions about that story.
1) Was it a customer or an employee?
2) How big was the Walmart in question? Was it a regular Walmart, or one of those super-Walmarts that are bigger than some counties?
That would be a long trip, at least a couple miles to the edge of town. Supermarket would be closer if they carry it, though still close to a mile each way.
Well, that would explain why she’s so tired!
I can attest the Walmart is nowhere near campus.
Danny, splayin’ out the goods in the first panel to attract a mate.
Darn it, I changed my gravatar to the BLU Spy but nothing happened.
Yes it did. Patience is a virtue.
Spies are all about virtues.
Fancy seeing you here Jarvan
Oh, so that’s what Danny is good for!
(Scrubbing street signs, I mean.)
Oh, I thought it was for comfort.
Danyy. HAH. Huh!
What is he good for?
SAY IT AGAIN uhu!
Danny, he ain’t nothing
But a heartbreaker
Danny, friend only to the undertaker
Good Cheese, y’all.
Cue car wreck due to missing sign, Amazi-girl scandal ensues…
Removing paint on demand is Danny’s second best feature.
I’m guessing that his first best feature is that he doesn’t hold much of a grudge when you get done scraping him off of you like a barnacle.
Danny’s two second best features are …
… no, wait, I will come back.
Somehow I linked this statement to Distracterella (and her costume) from LoSRH.
Danny has reached that sacred level in a relationship when a woman asks you to Goo Gone all over her broken vandalized sign.
You can’t make that line any dirtier, can you?
awwww Danny, how nice
Official first kiss. Danny is officially Amazi-girl’s damsel.
Oh man, that title text. I was like “Wait, that sounds familiar… it’s from something, what song is it from? How does it go… ‘the light where you–’ DAMN YOU WILLIS!”
Now I have Ace of Base in my head.
And now I am reminded that you added title text to this and Shortpacked! and that I’ve missed MONTHS of it…
I don’t think it’s possible to have missed MONTHS of it. maybe MONTH of it.
You’re a cold blooded monster.
But at least it wasn’t “All That She Wants”.
I’d say don’ t tempt fate, but Willis probably already had it planned somewhere down the line…
I have defeated your evil scheme through my amazing power of not knowing that song!
No reason to change that, is there?
That was my exact thought process, except with a bit at the end where I was amazed I actually got that reference.
When I first read the hover-text, I misread it, and thought we had a rick-roll coming.
Wait a second…….haircut?
If you mean Amazi-Girl, nah, she’s just (not) combing it differently to protect her secret identity.
Oh ok that makes sense.
What are you? President of his fan club?
No, that would be your mother.
Walked right into that one, didn’t you Danny? Man if this keeps up, I might actually like Dumbverse Danny as much as I like Teri Hatcher’s Lois Lane from Lois and Clark.
That is my favorite live-action superhero tv show. Smallville had it’s moments, but it was never as much fun. And man, don’t get me started on CBS’s Flash.
Man, I loved CBS’s Flash. Of course, I’m happy any time we get an adaptation of a DC character besides Batman and Superman…
I have the CBS Flash on DVD. I really liked it at the time. And, though I don’t think it’s aged very well, I still liked it. Like Lois and Clark, it acknowledged that he had powers 24/7 and that he used his speed to great effect.
It’s pretty funny though that Barry Allen was depicted as a nerd and derided for being a “police scientist” on the network that, 20 years later, would have 20 million CIS shows.
No love for Lou Ferrigno as the hulk?
Lou Ferrigno was good. So was Bill Bixby. It’s not their fault that the writing was awful and Banner was forced to wander the world interacting with boring people who I never cared about.
The best thing about The Incredible Hulk live action TV show was that it ended and Kenneth Johnson was then free to make is magnum opus: Short Circuit 2.
Too bad he followed it up with Steel.
See, I feel the opposite re: the Hulk. I haven’t seen enough of it to judge the writing quality, but what you describe as a typical plot is more interesting to me than most Hulk things.
The whole reason why I liked him in The Avengers (besides Whedon and Mark Ruffalo) is that we had scenes about BRUCE BANNER, and he was making an effort to better the world as himself (and, post-movie, also as the Hulk). I couldn’t really get behind the whiny guy hunkered down in a soda factory obsessively trying to cure himself, or the tact taken by most cartoons and comics where it’s Hulk, Hulk, all the time, punching down walls and beating up bad guys. In “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”, I was just depressed by the fact that the Hulk obviously just hangs around the manor full-time and no one even knows Bruce is in there. (And yeah, that’s what Bruce promised him, but it didn’t make it suck any less.)
To be honest, I also prefer Hulk only marginally intelligent, written like a big mostly nonverbal animal, because I think that’s a more effective contrast between Hulk and Banner; without that, the Hulk is just the Thing with a slight split personality.
But I’m well-aware that what I prefer here is portrayed rarely, and is certainly not in line with the original creation.
The live action TV show certainly had it’s moments. The pilot is, I think really good. If you haven’t seen that, you may want to. Also the TV movie, Trial of the Incredible Hulk is cool. It’s got Daredevil in it. Come to think of it, Return of the Incredible Hulk has Thor in it. You might want to check them out.
I agree with you that giving Banner a reason to be there and making him part of the team was a good idea. And like you, it’s one of the reasons I think Hulk worked as well has he did.
Some of my own vitriol towards the show may be because when I was little it marketed toward me as a kids show. It’s not a kids show. Not because it’s bad or has a lot of stuff that’s inappropriate, but because it’s boring and the Hulk is rarely in it.
Damn. Gotta check those tags.
But IT HAD SUPERHEROES IN IT, what do you mean little boys weren’t the right demographic?!
But no seriously, I’ll have to check the whole thing out.
It is important that one cares about the other people though. If the others are just boring little fishes that don’t have any traits beyond “I’m a civilian in distress, help me hero!” Then it no longer matters because there’s no investment.
Hooray, a MONDAY kiss!!
Is it me, or is the engineering vandal a young Ninja Rick?
You saw that guy, right? No way he’s Ninja Rick.
Ah, but he’s still an apprentice right now. They make mistakes, like using Sexy no Jutsu. :p
Well, at least he’s not wearing his ninja gear in public unlike a certain anime.
But that would mean… GASP! HE’S STILL IN THE STRIP! HE KNOWS THE IDENTITY OF AMAZI-GIRL’S BOYFRIEND!
And he also knows he’ll do menial tasks in exchange for kisses!
Young Ninja Rick’s name was Genin Rick.
That is one amazi-kiss.
the edited out fifth panel
What, running a cattle herd through the Vatican?
Best way to help ever!!
with his penis
Hey, is the Buffer Watch so when someone claims Willis “totally got this idea from the discussion section”, the rest of us can point to the Buffer as proof the comic in question already existed for at least a month before the comment was even made?
I think so….or Willis is from the future.
It appeared shortly after a comment thread in Friday’s strip where someone suggested that Willis was getting ideas from the commentary, and I pointed out that he had a huge buffer already prepared, but underestimated how huge by a couple of weeks.
That’s probably totally unrelated, though. I think he actually did it just to make every other webcomic artist except Howard Tayler feel like a lazy slacker.
Love the little spark detail in the first panel, and the fact that she’s glumly dragging the street sign along in the first place…
Amazi-Girl seems a bit dishevelled today. (Before I found out Goo Gone was a brand-named product, I thought she was just slurring incomprehensibly. “I’ve got a street sign and some Goo Gone g’tchoo gthluuuu. [hits ground]“) I wonder when she sleeps. (‘Course, that’s the Batman question as well — successful Bruce Wayne in the day, vengeful Batman at night, insomniac all-day ’round.)
The buffer watch is beginning to worry me. It feels like the start of something. When Willis had his comics planned out and drawn a year in advance, he began to grow restless. Transformers provided a welcome diversion, but their idle company was not enough. He needed the job that had sustained him for years. He began offering to make strips for other comics — ‘ghost-cartooning’, as it were. His pace was mighty, and he filled out strip after strip, prepared week after week of story, of gags, of interaction…soon, he was scripting and drawing every comic in existence. It was still not enough. One night, weary from his frantic workload, he cut his hand while sharpening a pencil. Blood mixed with ink. Something terrible happened that night.
From then on, there was no David Willis. There was no one to cast blame on and damn. There was only The Cheese.
(Still found time to go to Botcon, though.)
(Also, the heck, are there sparks coming from where Amazi-Girl is dragging the site along the ground?)
Dragging the sign along the ground, I mean. Her effect on the site is probably infinitesmal.
Aw, thanks. Usually I only get a singular plau.
Ah yes, Danny’s in that coveted “Your Tongue Is The Most Important Part Of You” stage of the relationship.
Help your local super-heroines, everyone!
Willis why is your answer to everything “now kiss”!!
I love the sparks in the first panel.
gotta admit……………didnt see that one coming
David, is your deviantArt a well-kept secret? After comics like this and last week’s Dorothy strip (puns!) I see a lot of people acting disappointed that your comics are PG, when as far as I can tell you’re one of the most prolific pin-up artists in webcomics outside of the Slipshine label. And one of the few pin-up artists that seem genuinely sex-positive.
it’s… it’s linked at the top of every page.
…where no one will ever find it… just as planned.
I know! That’s why it’s so confusing.
Ah the spouse of a superhero.
It always starts out like this…
…Then comes the running and the screaming.
And don’t ever, ever break up, or you might end up getting a shark thrown at you.
Which by the way is probably the coolest form of revenge I’ve ever seen.
Except for the shark of course.
From his point of view: Not cool.
(But I can’t help it: I like that movie!)
They tried doing this scene with Amazi-Girl hanging upside down, but she kept falling and/or getting dizzy from the headrush.
Hmm. Just occurred to me: Danny is halfway to figuring out who Amazi-Girl is now.
And I guess it’d be nitpicking to wonder how the vandals got paint across the center of the back of the sign, where the post was until Amazi-Girl unbolted it…
Woohoo! You go amb…er, amazi-girl
