I don’t think Joyce could rock the overall-shorts look the way Ruth does.
On the other hand, if Ruth borrowed Joyce’s orange sweater and added a little brown tint to her hair, she’d be a perfect Velma. I don’t think Billie could pull off Hot Dog Water, though.

Well, I know a lot of Chick-tract-toting evangelicals of Joyce’s family’s stripe are big on the whole “Halloween == devil worship” thing. (Of course, Just about everything is devil worship if Jack Chick can be believed.)
She celebrated it in It’s Walky, but only after the mindwipe, I think, and her parents seem harder-core in this universe.
Anyway, for Joyce’s costume I’m thinking Sarah’s vision of Joyce à la Billie. Just to break the brains of everyone else in the dorm.

Thank you for putting it into words. I was wondering why this felt so off. I can buy Sarah being bashful in new clothes and cautious about talking to a hot guy, but his “Words Change Things” stuff is so weird.
Joyce can work miracles with outfits. Personality, on the other hand…

I have the suspicion that we skipped the panels in the continuity where Joyce tells Jacob “My roommate digs you. You can recognize her because I dressed her up in shorts. Talk her up and don’t blow it or I’ll” I am not sure what threat Joyce added to it but he’s obviously thinking very hard about it right now.

Jacob is being sweet and I understand how scared Sarah is. She thinks it’s safer for her to put up walls and only share her anger because how can you get hurt if you don’t put yourself out there? obviously I really want things to work out for her but I’m scared too, because on occasion this webcomic is all about the sad. ;p
