Yeah I’m feeling it between these two more. Thing is, Daisy would require more character growth for Ruth, right? I mean given the “I have to fuck a nice person” comment. While she and Jason are more on a level. Which I think is what Willis is going for here. I definitely sense more chemistry between the two of them and ship it.

I feel I should mention that even though technically Jason got fired for boffing a student he really got fired because Penny lied about him boffing a student. It’s just a coincidence she was right. Yeah but that scene didn’t really make any sense. Supposedly he would have had to “mount a counterargument with the affected student”. First of all, what does that even mean. Are you just supposed to Bill Clinton it up and say “I did not have sexual relations with that woman!”? But anyway, if Penny was just making stuff up, didn’t really know it was Sal, then who is the affected student supposed to be?
I think in that situation, since Penny made a claim with no proof, Jason could’ve denied it, but since he did actually sleep with a student he just chose not to out of good conscience. Either that or Penny is really good at guessing based on the one time she saw Sal and Jason together. Also just to continue the point of Penny being awful, but considering she admitted she thought she was lying about the whole thing, that means she was also willing to drag Sal, a student’s name through the mud just to screw over Jason which is pretty terrible.
On the point of Penny and whether Sal’s name came up – Jason said he gave Sal’s stuff to another TA to grade. My guess is that was Penny’s. If Sal’s name did come up, I’m guessing it’d be from that.
From what I remember, he didn’t even try to. He probably could have, and I don’t really think Sal would have *wanted* to get him fired, but Jason took his medicine on it.
Walkiverse Dargon and Dumbiverse Dargon are the same person. He faked his death in It’s Walky, escaped to another universe, kidnapped that universe’s baby Jason, and escaped to the Dumbiverse.

…honestly, despite the lack of sci-fi elements in DoA, I kinda like to imagine that Alan is still an Alien in this universe. Just because it’s funny to me. I’m in love with the idea that he’s the only Alien in the universe, and that it makes no sense for him to be an Alien or to be there, but there he is anyway. For the lulz.

I realise Jason’s accent is likely to be more significantly different from the Americans’ accents than Ruth’s is, but why does no-one ever remark on Ruth’s? “Oh, you’re Canadian” should be the first thing anyone meeting her says after she speaks, but apparently only being English is interesting enough to comment on.
Historically, (so I read somewhere sometime), news anchors actually emulated neutral canadian accents in order to be understood by the broadest base of american listeners. (it would also free them from regional favouritism / not being liked by a particular region, because we hate shelbyville)
Maybe it’s from watching too many Canadian YouTubers, or beause I live in New England, but I don’t automatically pick out an accent as specifically “Canadian” unless they’re Quebecois or hamming up those stereotypical patterns like you hear from Wisconsin don’cha know.

I don’t think it would be noticeable unless she was Quebecois (in which case they’d probably guess France) or very Newfie (or, I suppose, very intentionally talking with a lot of canadian intonations and slang). Otherwise most Canadian accents, while not identical across the country, are pretty equivalent to one american accent or another.
And having lived there, the Newfie accent is 19th century rural Irish, from when the English dumped a shitload of people in Northern Ireland and ran the people living there off to Canada…
Atlantic Canadian accents (Acadian, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and NB/PEI) generally are noticeable to both Canadians and Americans unless the person is able to code switch to a middle Canada accent. When I speak with my native accent (mainly rural NS with a dash of German and Metis) people have a hard time placing where I am from exactly but can tell right away I am Canadian. I can and do code switch to a more Central Canadian accent for work because it’s easier to get taken seriously in my profession if I don’t sound like a hick from the back of beyond.
Only since 16 or so. Longer, but most of her growing up was done in Canada.
Though, with her mother at least being American, she might not have picked up as much of an accent as she otherwise would have.

They’re not that identical – other than in the briefest summary version. Ruth wasn’t actually fired. Ruth & Jennifer was an actual relationship, not just sex for grades. Jason’s not an orphan. Clint’s just an abuser not a supervillain.
Sometimes a caustic reaction allows two things to bond together in ways that cannot be achieved by mere proximity. As a lock rusts shut, two iron plates can be functionally stuck together with the application of a small amount of slightly acid water. The resultant rust may not make a strong bond, and would not be used for industry, but the pieces will be stuck together for a typical person’s perspective.

If you’re talking about Joyce’s dad, his ability to switch churches, and recognize the faults of his faith, pretty strongly indicates that he’s not at the ‘end’ of the faith spectrum. If the other is Mr. Dina, well, there’s not a /lot/ of travel on the atheist side of things, and he really doesn’t come across as extreme. Generally if you don’t have faith, you just don’t, and it ceases to be something you consider much. Which is not to say that there aren’t radical atheists. They make usefully energizing electrodes for campaiging for the seperation of church and state.
Regardless of who you meant though, I find radicals of any sort tend to make pretty shit parents. Their belief in whatever they’ve radicalized to, tends to make them prioritize their ‘mission’ over their children’s interests, and/or try and indoctrinate their children into their world-view. I kinda suspect I took your meaning of ‘ends’ further than you meant though.

Well, it looks like she’s only taken two shots. Don’t get me wrong, I know she’s an alchoholic and “anything is too much” but if she gets pulled away now the night’s still salvageable. I’m just kind of rooting for Ruth (if at least 1 person) can get some significant growth out of all of this. I’d really love to see her recover properly.
The question is, how much tolerance does she have left? She’s (hopefully) abstained or severely cut back for weeks, and she’s on medication. I don’t think a couple shots will put her flat on her back unless she’s become a Walky-class lightweight, but the fact that she feels like she has to drink to justify dating is worrhing.
Oh, yeah, her mental state in general is troublesome enough. I just don’t want to see her slip back into that so soon into the time skip.

I don’t think it would be noticeable unless she was Quebecois (in which case they’d probably guess France) or very Newfie (or, I suppose, very intentionally talking with a lot of canadian intonations and slang). Otherwise most Canadian accents, while not identical across the country, are pretty equivalent to one american accent or another.
And having lived there, the Newfie accent is 19th century rural Irish, from when the English dumped a shitload of people in Northern Ireland and ran the people living there off to Canada…
Atlantic Canadian accents (Acadian, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and NB/PEI) generally are noticeable to both Canadians and Americans unless the person is able to code switch to a middle Canada accent. When I speak with my native accent (mainly rural NS with a dash of German and Metis) people have a hard time placing where I am from exactly but can tell right away I am Canadian. I can and do code switch to a more Central Canadian accent for work because it’s easier to get taken seriously in my profession if I don’t sound like a hick from the back of beyond.
The Cape Breton accents are the most beautiful accents I have heard in North America. The perfect hint of lilt.

If you’re talking about Joyce’s dad, his ability to switch churches, and recognize the faults of his faith, pretty strongly indicates that he’s not at the ‘end’ of the faith spectrum. If the other is Mr. Dina, well, there’s not a /lot/ of travel on the atheist side of things, and he really doesn’t come across as extreme. Generally if you don’t have faith, you just don’t, and it ceases to be something you consider much. Which is not to say that there aren’t radical atheists. They make usefully energizing electrodes for campaiging for the seperation of church and state.
Regardless of who you meant though, I find radicals of any sort tend to make pretty shit parents. Their belief in whatever they’ve radicalized to, tends to make them prioritize their ‘mission’ over their children’s interests, and/or try and indoctrinate their children into their world-view.
