Yet another seemingly-nice but actually evil act. Just before she leaves, she’s going to lean down and whisper in Liz’s ear, “And no one will ever believe you.”
It kind of unethical to wasting Carla’s money like this – especially after she was so uncharacteristically selfless towards them. (Though I do feel that her narcissism is façade, albeit one she often takes too far).
For real. No one’s going to miss the money, the driver gets paid for an hour they can use to rest or go to lunch or run errands or whatever, this is totally harmless.
Yeah and that. Sarah can probably just say something like “thanks so much, you’ve probably kept my sister in school and saved my and her relationship, don’t know where we’d be without you” to Carla and everyone will be happier, even Carla though she’ll pretend otherwise.
It’s a “corporate” account, which I guess means Carla is reducing her income per hour from what small share she probably owns in her parents’ company by a minuscule percentage for five hours rather than four in order to pay the driver’s bill. I think she’ll be fine.
Carla wanted to do it as a prank, expecting them to irritate each other. The more time they spend together the more Carla gets her way. She’d be fine with it
It’s not Carla’s money though, it’s her rich as hell parents. Anyway, if she’s really that bothered by it, I’m sure she’ll get some swift and ridiculous revenge.
Always thought that was kind of a strange song … it’s a break-up song – the guy is giving his wife the heave-ho after finding out she was getting her jollies somewhere else – but it had such an up-beat tempo and a kick-ass horn line.
Sarah and Liz have issues, but I do like that she recognizes that Liz was running from something, even if she’s not exactly sure what yet, and that she can use some support.
The fraud comment was because she was pretending to be something she wasn’t around Joyce. Liz was pretending to be worldly, drug taking, sex having, totally moved on from her religious upbringing. Which she wasn’t. Which made her a fraud, because she wasn’t anything of the things that Joyce was admiring her for. “Hey Joyce you thought she was one thing, but she’s not, she’s a fraud, she’s actually more like you, not what you want to be.”
Okay but the person Joyce wants to be is the same person Liz wants to be. This is why Sarah, who in her last appearance was given Joyce huge piles of shit, says that Liz “isn’t any better than you,” she wants the both of them to act how she’s decided they have to be.
They want to be treated like normal-ass adults who are capable of having sex and saying the fuck word without it being a catastrophe.
Okay but that’s not smart at all, that’s exposing Liz’s problem to someone Liz has indicated she does not want her problem exposed to for fear of reprisal, and then Sarah doesn’t have to make the slightest effort in helping Liz through the fallout.
Yes, if you’re standing right next to someone when their sister says out loud that they’re keeping secrets from you, the correct thing to do is pretend you haven’t heard and showing the slightest interest in this subject makes you a garbage person.
Seriously, three strips, five panels, four lines of dialogue. I think this may be a record for how quickly a character has been Judged By The Comments, but I could easily be wrong.
I really don’t see what she’s done wrong. If she forces the issue, sure that’d be a problem, but just asking what Sarah means there is basically harmless
It sure is convenient that Sarah bailed so she could return in a triumphant moment to show she really cares, deep down, but maybe it’s weird that she’s gotta have that triumph in a problem she’s causing.
But, this is actually decent enough progress for Sarah, in that even if she thinks Liz’s problems are dumb and scandalous, she’s at least making the effort to say that she believes in Liz enough that she can overcome them and making some effort to contextualize why she felt entitled to taking control over Liz’s dilemma. She’s not just insisting on her own righteousness.
She still has to learn that she’s approached this in a way where she has all the control and none of the responsibility, and she needs to accept that Liz’s problems are real and are hurting her, because then she can accept that she’s doing the same thing to her other little sister dealing with the weight of needing to remain in that little box everyone insists she stay in for their own amusement.
I dunno how many strips Sarah’s got left, but I hope she gets some meat to chew on or she bails and the repercussions come back full force later on.
I can see Sarah is trying to help Liz here, but maybe she could a bit more careful about what she says when one of the people Liz is keeping those “dumb, scandalous” secrets from is literally standing right there. And I’m not at all convinced that Liz’s secrets she’s keeping from her Ball State friends/fellow students are dumb.
Don’t butt in just for screen time, Juanita! Liz is at best a secondary character and you’re a step away from her. Your name’s only taged first because of arbitrary alphabetness. :/

It's not a new argument, of course, but Chesterton dismissed it effectively in 1908.

wait, ACTUALLY being nice?
definitely somebody wearing Sarah skin
(unless the last panel is step # 9000 ahead of Liz in 700 dimensional spite-chess)
Of COURSE she’ll do fine, as long as she keeps her secrets to herself!
Sarah’s a good soul, just cynical and grumpy. Like Oscar without the trash.
Yet another seemingly-nice but actually evil act. Just before she leaves, she’s going to lean down and whisper in Liz’s ear, “And no one will ever believe you.”

“You sick bongo.”
gotta love these 99 references
Speaking of planning ahead, quick question to Willis, maybe?
We know the new slipshine will be released on Saturday, but at what time?
RIGHT HECKIN NOW
She’s being nice by running up a bill on Carla’s account.
She’s being nice by letting her sister’s friend know she has scandalous secrets.
Sarah: Liz has two butts.
Liz: What?! I do NOT!
Sarah: Okay then, you tell her a scandalous secret about yourself.
Liz: …
Sarah: …?
Liz: …Fine. I call them Bunsy and Ms. Badonkadonk.
Juanita: Wow! Are those special pants? Because I can barely tell!
butt “barely tell” means “slightly able to”!
If she enrages you, you can hoof her in the front butt
Liking Sarah more and more
Sarah has always been good. Frustrating at times and deeply flawed, but good.
Good yes but likeable, not always. Like a lot of the cast.
Sarah: ATHEIST! ATHEIST! MY SISTER IS AN ATHEIST!
It kind of unethical to wasting Carla’s money like this – especially after she was so uncharacteristically selfless towards them. (Though I do feel that her narcissism is façade, albeit one she often takes too far).
it’s probably a drop in the bucket for carla’s account though, i’m sure she’ll be entertainingly insufferable to her when she gets back lol
Carla will be outwardly dismissive or even gag at how corny that sounds, but inside she’ll be satisfied by doing good.
Thank you, I’d forgotten Carla was helping with this and was just wondering how on earth Sarah was affording all this.
Carla being uncharacteristically selfless? Thats not what she would have us believe, she did it as a prank.
Oh no, think of the poor rich person’s wallet!
Everyone knows it’s ethical to steal from the rich.
Even the rich know it, though they won’t admit it.
Juanita has hr own scandalous secrets.
Sh!
Man, that Uber driver sure is having a Day, isn’t he.
Are you kidding me? Getting paid to not drive with Americans? Sign me up.
I didn’t say a BAD day just……a Day.
Getting paid to do nothing for an hour is a good deal and they deserve it after having to listen to the sisters’ arguments all the way here
Sarah…being sisterly…?
Awwww
I love it when Sarah gets to relax and embrace being the big sister
wait… do you mean to say that “relax” and “embrace being the big sister” aren’t mutually exclusive???
Plot Twist: Liz is actually PURE EVIL and has a bunch of bodies in her dorm room she’s keeping hidden from Juanita.
YOU HAVE NO FRAME OF REFERENCE HERE JUANITA

Sarah thinks Juanita is Buzz-Off.
But this smells like good chisme.
Stop prying for information Jaunita, this doesn’t concern you!
Im standing here and thats because of you, you call me to take your sister
Never ask that question if you’re not ok with the next line being “We’ll have to eliminate you now”.
Take a Letter, Juanita!–apologies to Tony Orlando & Dawn
That was R.B. Greaves, not Tony Orlando.
I mean, Liz has openly stated what she’s running away from. She hates her identity but is afraid of outing herself.
That, yeah, but it does still feel like that’s not the whole story.
I agree. It could be just what she said but it does feel like there’s a twist of some kind coming
well with only about three non-Dina strips left this chapter, it better be one heck of a twist
Liz is actually the princess of Genovia and Julie Andrews is here to give her a makeover
The comic will be renamed Juanita and will henceforth take place at Ball State.
Plot twist: Willis cheekily included the slipshine in his count of dina appearances this storyline.
Sarah knows what Liz is running away from, she just thinks it’s dumb, scandalous, and makes her a fraud.
Overall, some pretty solid sistering from Sarah here. Love that for her!
NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU, PATRICE
Dammit Juanita!
At least Liz wasn’t “Deflowered” by Joe.
I think it’d be interesting if Liz turns out to be ace and her sexual attraction was all performative.
Well this could be interesting, but not as interesting as Saturday.
Could still be smart and mean. Subtly dropping a hint about secrets to Juanita so that’ll have to work itself out.
Okay but that’s not smart at all, that’s exposing Liz’s problem to someone Liz has indicated she does not want her problem exposed to for fear of reprisal, and then Sarah doesn’t have to make the slightest effort in helping Liz through the fallout.
Which is why Sarah is such a good sister. Don’t you wish you had a sister like Sarah?
My older sister is more volatile and stupid, but has about the same level of ability to communicate.
Juanita needs to learn some morals and values
Yes, if you’re standing right next to someone when their sister says out loud that they’re keeping secrets from you, the correct thing to do is pretend you haven’t heard and showing the slightest interest in this subject makes you a garbage person.
Seriously, three strips, five panels, four lines of dialogue. I think this may be a record for how quickly a character has been Judged By The Comments, but I could easily be wrong.
Hey, I knew Booster was Mike before they ever appeared on panel.
I really don’t see what she’s done wrong. If she forces the issue, sure that’d be a problem, but just asking what Sarah means there is basically harmless
Everyone always takes the comics on this comedy webcomic in complete seriousness.
None are pure. Not even one.
Some, however, are puree.
“who are you and what have you done with the real Sarah ?”
I dunno how many strips Sarah’s got left, but I hope she gets some meat to chew on or she bails and the repercussions come back full force later on.
well said… “all the control, none of the responsibility” in particular
God damn it, Juanita.
Ghosts don’t eat
I can see Sarah is trying to help Liz here, but maybe she could a bit more careful about what she says when one of the people Liz is keeping those “dumb, scandalous” secrets from is literally standing right there. And I’m not at all convinced that Liz’s secrets she’s keeping from her Ball State friends/fellow students are dumb.
Sarah is trying to help but she could stand to be more careful is a common theme I see.
Sorry folks, you heard it, she’s really Ghost Mike, just migrating from Amber’s head to Juanita’s.
Wow, Juanita always has to make things about herself, doesn’t she? Unbelievable.
Right, that’s an important moment between two sisters, Juanita go look for the table!
So, is she going to do okay? Or will she be a new transfer?
Loudly announcing that Liz, who feels forced into a ‘good girl’ box, has scandalous secrets is very clever and super helpful.
I thought so.
Apparently Sarah did too.
Don’t butt in just for screen time, Juanita! Liz is at best a secondary character and you’re a step away from her. Your name’s only taged first because of arbitrary alphabetness. :/
