Makes sense. I do think the nature of jennifers arc is to probbbbably eventually come back around to to being more active in the story anyway, thanks specifically to this breakup, but its possible it’ll be a long road

I’ve got to say, Jennifer’s reaction is WEIRD. Even for her.
Why is she taking this so damn personally?
Have you meet Jennifer? She takes EVERYTHING personally.
It’s worth noting this is coming immediately after her relationship imploded. Granted, the relationship had clearly needed to end, and she’s still very blatantly in love with Ruth, who in turn has her own boyfriend, and now her ex has a dude, too, which Raidah basically told her about if I recall?
So, getting kicked out so Lucy could get her horn on and now the two being uber-sappy is going to be more obnoxious to her than it otherwise would be.
And a couple of days after the “I’ll go to church with you to make my not-particularly-religious parents stop being racist” shenanigans she had to put up with.
I doubt this has too much to do with Lucy and Jacob, and more with her own self-image about being the person who knows how things work being shattered once again when Asher simply ignored her and broke up, rather than changing and doing whatever she wanted to get back with her.
If Asher had gone back to her she’d probably riding her high horse about how her brooding angst-ridden relationship was more real than Lucy’s saccharine fling with Jacob.
But she’s the main character! Why wouldn’t Asher change everything about himself in pursuit of the moving goalposts in her passive-aggressive guessing game?
Jennifer just bombed her relationship on purpose because it reminded her of something she doesn’t like about herself. She was denied drama from it too.
Not only was she sexiled by the people she’s walking to class with, they’re also (to her) probably rubbing their healthiness and sincerity in her face because that’s something she can’t do.
she’s also bitter because in her mind theres a hierarchy of who gets the hot guys first and Lucy totally cut in line!

Raidah is charismatic, manipulative, outgoing, has good grades, and knows some people with high-class connections outside of school. Also, she usually has at least one or two friends on hand to back her up at any given time. Most of the cast has at least a few of those qualities, but not all of them, and thus Raidah is able to present a much more convincing impression of “popularity” than anyone in the main cast!
Sure, there’s a pretty high TURNOVER in her group of
minionsfriends, between Dana, Sarah, Jacob, Chan, Char, Asher, and (possibly) Jennifer, but that should be fine as long as she keep finding NEWsuckerslonely people in need of a kind, supportive, group of friends with strong leadership and organization!the more I think about Radiahs high turnover and the fact that she doesn’t have a single person from her own year besides Carl makes it even worse then I originally thought, apparently only people younger and less experienced at student networking then her are impressed with her and Carl.

I don’t know if she can GET more irrational. From the lunch with Raidah where Jennifer spent the whole time being ashamed of Walky as a reminder of her childhood while at the same time desperately clinging to Walky as a reminder of her childhood and onward, she has seemed to me completely consumed by the irreconcilable difference between what she wants out of life (nerd stuff, the comfort of family relationships) and what she’s telling herself she wants (high status hobbies, drama and friends who will make her look important and cool).
