The problem is … the real-world experience is how you get ahead in an effed-up system. And not even “you’ve got to be in power to change things”, because she doesn’t seem to get why someone who’s in power would want to change things.
Like, “If yer gay in politics, I’d recommend … not” is … not great? Even if it’s true, it’s not great?
Maybe she is, but we haven’t actually seen any of the dryer, academic side. We’ve just seen the cynical personal experience commentary. It’s hard to say if she’s actually teaching any of the material.
Even today, she’s not talking about “in politics” like she says, but in the Republican party. Being gay to “own the libs” wouldn’t really work as a Democrat. There are openly gay Democratic politicians and have been for years. I keep up a daily correspondence with a dear old friend who’s serving life in prison, and we often discuss Rabbi Danya’s writings together. I’m trying to figure out how to get him a copy of the book, but the prison is fussy about receiving books at all. *Sigh.*
Given lack of electronic devices, are audiobooks or ebooks right out too? It probably ought to be evident to me that a prison fussy about books wouldn’t be one that has offers tablets or mp3 players, but I wouldn’t put it past them to implement a system that lets them charge more money for devices or subscriptions.

The game isn’t all that different for democrats. They don’t get hated as much for being gay, but they’re not allowed to “look” or “act” gay like George Santos does.
Democrats who are way to proud about being Democrats aren’t as accepting and tolerate as they pretend to be.

I know not everyone checks back on comments from the previous strip, so just going to say here that I was distinguishing between driving and taking a bus. If something is a 30 minute drive– especially from a residence in a different city as a starting point– I would not expect it to be close to a 30 minute bus ride.

Akchually, Santos problem wasn’t that he was gay, it was that he was gay and a Republican, and lied about being gay. For the rest of us it was all the other lies about his mother, his resume, and his finances. His finances was what got him tossed out of Congress.
