Huh. Ruth as the RA.. Nice touch. Is Howard gonna get special treatment or something?? that brings up another question. Is Howard coming in this year. If I recall correctly, Howard is a year behind Joyce, Joe, Danny, and the rest of ’em.
I seem to recall Danny and Joe encountering a similar scenario in the original Roomies!, though that RA was far less psychotic. Something tells me Joyce is going to be the only one in attendance.
Nah, her new motto is just “No Regrets — except driving like an ass at night which might get me killed in a horrific car accident and cause me to die… so as I would regret that, I choose not to do it… good luck drunk Danny…”
Is it wrong that I’m totally hot for Ruth…? A: I dig glasses, B: I dig Redheads… And C: Any woman with the cajones to threaten to beat someone to death with their femurs is O.K. in my books…
um… quick question. Is reading the previous comics with these characters needed (ie they all have tons of history that you need to know to get some of the jokes) or will it be possible to just jump in with this series and at some point read the others later?
I got linked over from Something Positive and I can’t help but wonder that.
Well, he’s reusing modified characters from previous continuities in a new storyline, so comment chat from fans is likely to go over your head and my money’s on there being throwaway/gravy references to other characters/events that you might not get. Other than that, you’re probably good.
Yes, having read through DoA without reading any of the others first (aside from one or two not-very-relevant early Shortpacked! strips, like the one about Batman breathing in space), this comic completely makes sense without knowing the others.
Some fan conversations less so, but those aren’t too hard to figure out after a while.
This is my first webcomic and even more embarrassing is the fact that I can really relate to the character Joyce. And I was starting to wonder the same thing lol.
I’m in the same boat, I got linked here from…Nuzlocke? I think? And I subsequently read Willis other works (albeit backwards). You will most likely still enjoy this comic, the might be occasional gags that reference Shortpacked! or It’s Walky! or something, but you don’t have to worry about those.
RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTH!
Beat me to it.
In both chat and the comments! I AM THE WINNER!
Also in length of characters used!
actually you beat him to it he posted it at 12:07 you posted it at 12:02
Time zone differences, maybe?
I second this emotion.
First impressions are SO important… and first warnings.
RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTH!
So this is where David’s twitter avatar comes from?
And I can atest to the fact that living with someone long enough will make you want to kill them eventually.
Me and my best friend couldn’t last a week before we were throwing punches at each other. >.>
My buddies and I get the punches out of the way ahead of time. When it’s serious, we duel with either [dulled] blades or collectible card games.
Overtly bi-polar Ruth scares me.
eep.
I knew this appearance would happen eventually. Doesn’t make it less strange.
Huh. Ruth as the RA.. Nice touch. Is Howard gonna get special treatment or something?? that brings up another question. Is Howard coming in this year. If I recall correctly, Howard is a year behind Joyce, Joe, Danny, and the rest of ’em.
I wouldn’t use the ages of the Roomies! characters to determine the ages of DoA characters. After all, Walky and Billie were the same age as Howard.
I seem to recall Danny and Joe encountering a similar scenario in the original Roomies!, though that RA was far less psychotic. Something tells me Joyce is going to be the only one in attendance.
Nope… he posted art of the floor meeting earlier, though I can’t find it now. There were many others in attendance too.
Oh, right. I remember something about Mary being one of the background characters there.
The horror.
Did Ruth still babysit Walky and Billie this time around or is it something I am just going to have to wait to see?
Nope. She’s never met anyone in the main cast before.
I see what you mean about the abundance of green shirts.
Yay! It’s Ruth! She’s back, and this time it’s No Integrity, Tons of Regret. ;D
Nah, her new motto is just “No Regrets — except driving like an ass at night which might get me killed in a horrific car accident and cause me to die… so as I would regret that, I choose not to do it… good luck drunk Danny…”
How exactly was SHE driving like an ass…?
She did slam another car out of the way with her own car. Granted, in context that was a good thing, but…
RUUUUUUUTH! SHE’S BACK! I LOVE YOU RUTH! DON’T DIE THIS TIME!
heh. you’re gravatar is danny. this amuses me.
Reminds me of my own RA… minus the first three panels, that is.
Oh… my… RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTH! SHE’S BACK! My favorite character from Roomies! is ALIVE!
And weirdly, this is probably the happiest we’ve seen Ruth ever be
That’s probably because she never caught her Dad cheating.
Something tells me she’s done this before.
I think I like this incarnation of Ruth. Better than I liked her before. That said, I hope she will still act with integrity, with no regrets.
Is it wrong that I’m totally hot for Ruth…? A: I dig glasses, B: I dig Redheads… And C: Any woman with the cajones to threaten to beat someone to death with their femurs is O.K. in my books…
I got wood too. Yet, I think she looks scarier when she’s happy.
She deserves a song for her comeback:
Been a lot of years since she went away, Ruth Lessik
Now she’s back and I have to say
Need you all the way, need you all the way, Ruth Lessik
Need you all the way, need you all the way, Ruth Lessik
To quote Mike: “I got wood.”
i like where this is going….
Ah Ruth, just as angry as I remember her.
Lovely. I meant just as lovely. Yes.
>.>
Hmm… she’s Ruth “Lessik” now…
Does she still know Walky and Billie?
Does this mean that Howard isn’t her brother anymore? That’s gonna be weird…
Where are you getting the “Lessik” from?
(Never mind, just looked at the Cast Page)
The cast page on this site.
Ha! I self corrected before you could correct me!
Shame Win!
um… quick question. Is reading the previous comics with these characters needed (ie they all have tons of history that you need to know to get some of the jokes) or will it be possible to just jump in with this series and at some point read the others later?
I got linked over from Something Positive and I can’t help but wonder that.
This comic is a completely different, stand-alone continuity from my other works. You need to know nothing but the 10 or so strips in the archives.
Well, he’s reusing modified characters from previous continuities in a new storyline, so comment chat from fans is likely to go over your head and my money’s on there being throwaway/gravy references to other characters/events that you might not get. Other than that, you’re probably good.

This is my first webcomic and even more embarrassing is the fact that I can really relate to the character Joyce. And I was starting to wonder the same thing lol.
Also the girl named Ruth is really scary.
Between Ruth and Mike, this has the intense possibility for gratuitous and extreme violence. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
or rough sex between ruth and mike
That’d be terrifyingly hot…
Holy crap! That is the scariest RA I have ever see.
So RA over there means Resident Assistant? I’ve always heard Resident Advisor…learn something new every day.
We just went with the generic Resident A-hole but that was in the 80’s.
Yoinks What I wouldn’t give to punch Ruth in the face right about now
Hee! Hi, Ruth! I have missed you!
*Gasp* ….<3
Isn’t this just your old comic but from a slightly different perspective?
“slightly different perspective”. Hmm. So, what. Did you just glance at the list of cast members for the previous comic or what?
Oh, Ruth. How I like you…
I was thinking in staying just with the main continuity, but this is one of my reasons to follow this one comic.
Wild Ruth used Bone Club!
A critical hit!
It’s super effective!
Ruth is scary and Hillarious all at once I like that.
So is this the same universe as roomies and shorpacked?
no, this is an alternate universe.
oh, sweet, I got Amazi-girl!
Well, that was a nice chat. Do we stay or do we run?
Run.
Gah, shes worse than Skyrim’s GIANTS!
Such a great Ruth intro!
Well, i like her.
It took me a looooong time to realise that Ruth’s full name was a pun.
Well she seems nice
Short for “Ruthless” I see.
