Were Amber to actually look at him she’d probably know who he was, but in the time honored tradition of comic book superheroes he has absolutely no idea who she is.
nope. thats probably a DSi standing as it is a lite aqua color, and DSLites were not available as far as i know.. could be a DSiXL, but, it looks average sized even for a females hands..
Wow, that matchup wasn’t even on my list. I expected the whole, infatuation with Amazi-Girl, but… now that I actually think about it, this was rather unanimously called wasn’t it?
I’ve played mario kart DS. The touch screen shows the map, and has no controls whatsoever. Tapping the touchscreen switches it between just a line map, ala every other mario kart, or a detailed map focused around the player’s character.
Diddy kong racing had controls on the touch screen though, but I don’t see how any of this is relevant in the slightest since her hands would have to be in a different position for it to work in the slightest.
also, just a tidbit, but the detailed map is really helpful when your opponet uses the squid icon, which shoots ink on the top screen. You can still use the bottom screen to drive accurately without hitting obstacles.
Honestly, most of the good DS games, IMHO, use the buttons more than the touch screen.
Touch screen-based games stand out more. That is, if the touch screen is appropriate for the game, it can be pure magic, but if it’s not, it just feels like a cheap gimmick. Button-based games, OTOH, are just, you know… games.
I’d say no control scheme is inherently bad, except for the ones that assume that people have two right hands.
COD(thats a shooter game for you non-gamers) uses some awkward specific handed button controls and touch screen for .. what does that get put into if it uses both well?
(im specualting shes playing one of the littl’st pet shop games)
nope. Pretty sure thats just xbox 360.
I think she was just using the phrase for the sake of using the phrase.
Or rather, her use of nerdy tropes and colloquialisms help shield her from human contact, allowing her to be by herself and not be disturbed, which I think was the main intention.
No…. no, I think she was just playing her game and actually out loud mentioned that she unlocked an achievement in it…. both are likely.
Like, it could be a crack of WoW that you can play on a smartphone; though why the HELL you would want to attempt it on a tiny screen escapes me….. Eh, addicts.
Wait a sec. So he went to a college he didn’t want to go to purely to be with his girlfriend, whom he knew wanted to go to a different college anyway. So he was expecting both himself and Dorothy to be happy going to a college neither wanted to go to?
There is something seriously wrong with that boy.
No, see, he was doing this thing called “making a sacrifice for the one you love.” And when one is young, one can quite easily make such sacrifices, considering them nothing and having full faith they will be rewarded for it. Danny is just pissed because it all blew up in his face, and is being a tad sarcastic with his external monologue. Being pissed after being dumped by someone who has, in hindsight, obviously never taken being with you quite as seriously as you took being with them, is quite normal, not “wrong.” Were Danny acting like everything was just fine and dandy, -then- something would be wrong. =P
But he was expecting her to sacrifice everything to be with him as well. It’s perfectly fine to make sacrifices, but it’s wrong to try to make others sacrifice for your own sake.
If you’re the only one making all the sacrifices it’s not a relationship, it’s a walk over. You can’t expect big sacrifices from someone, and you making a sacrifice does not entitle you to make demands but compromise has to be a two way thing.
It was a college she chose, and going from what the other commenter’s have said a transfer to Yale wouldn’t have happened quickly. A big sacrifice from him in order to knock two years off the amount of time you’ve got to do a distance relationship for which could help you stay together long term seems worth it.
True, but Danny’s a real romantic so far, so he was probably like “OUR LOVE IS SO GREAT THAT SHE SHALL STAY AND WE SHALL BE HAPPY FOREVER!” He wouldn’t think that she was making a sacrifice, he was just thinking that she would realize that going to a different college is a mistake.
Exactly. This has been the point of his mistake. He really wanted to keep being with her, and in his desperation, made some bad choices. It’s not “wrong”, as GBH was saying – it’s part of growing up. Recognizing what you did wrong, learning from it, and not doing it again. Let’s hope Danny-boy can get enough distance from the situation to get the needed perspective.
Hmmm… I always though IU had a pretty good rep as a CS school. I acknowledge that Purdue’s engineering program as a whole is better respected than IU’s, but purely in terms of CS, I thought IU was on par…
He just needs to learn that humans aren’t really worth the time. This is something everyone eventually learns. Social interaction is by far the most insincere act any lifeform on this planet uses. The entire purpose is not to actually meet nice people and form social bonds, but rather develop defense mechanisms and use mimicry to increase the chances of survival for one’s genes.
Danny would have far better success if he simply took his roommate’s advice (though not to the sexual direction, as one does not know who has picked up what at college). A little excessive dating and healthy disregard for the value of human life goes a long way.
Yes, but he doesn’t mean the state, he means Indiana University. As it’s in Bloomington and Purdue is in West Lafayette, that would put them about a hundred miles apart.
Whether or not you see this as a long way depends on how much you normally move about, and whether or not you can drive.
Is it just me, or did Amber seem to lose some weight here? Like, significantly? I thought at first she may have just been drawn differently, but looking at it again, it seems to be somewhat obvious… Maybe Amazi-Girl Workouts are just that awesome.
Kinda spooky, but I just overheard some kids at school talking about the same thing that just happened to Danny happening to a friend of theirs. Followed his girlfriend to college, was warned by another of his friends that it wasn’t gonna work out, guy denies it, then girl breaks up with him. I was like, “I’m having Deja Vu. o.o”
Wow it’s kinda wierd seeing Danny and Amber in the same place yeah I know she saved him as Amazi-Girl but we haven’t really seen the Roomies and Shortpacked characters together in the same panel till now.
Pretty sure they have no clue who the other is.
Were Amber to actually look at him she’d probably know who he was, but in the time honored tradition of comic book superheroes he has absolutely no idea who she is.
I’m betting if Amber wouldn’t care one way or another. I mean, aside from super-heroics, she seems to only care about video games right now.
lol, this one could actually work out: she ignores him, and he stays all hate-y
Ahoy, me mates! This ship has left port!
Permission to come aboard, Captain!
Screw permission, I’m stowing away!
Maybe I shouldn’t have yelled that…
Is permission code for Danny or Amber? I’m confused now.
Aye, I signed up the moment she said, “I’m Amazi-Girl.”
Made more hilarious by that gravitar.
30G – Emo Snub
So I’m not the only who expects them to become a couple now?
Isn’t that how it always works in comedies?
Not at all, mostly because it’s psychologically probable that Danny sees his ex. They look A LOT alike.
Am I the only one who immediately thought “But that doesn’t make sense; there’s no achievements in DS games”?
nope. thats probably a DSi standing as it is a lite aqua color, and DSLites were not available as far as i know.. could be a DSiXL, but, it looks average sized even for a females hands..
Willis’s characters have huuuuuge hands. That could be a PSP tapped to the top of a DSiXL and it would still look small in her hands. >_>
It’s actually her phone.
HAH
Considering how I had someone accuse my DS Lite for a phone, this proves nothing.
Yeah…except that David’s like, the author, so I’m pretty sure he knows what he drew.
So what, N-Gages are popular in this world?
Lol xD Well, it doesn’t have to be an N-Gage, just a smart phone.
I use mine to play GBA, GG, and NES emulators on it. Some phones like the Cliq for example actually has a D-Pad on it. Mine unfortunately does not ._.
Wow, that matchup wasn’t even on my list. I expected the whole, infatuation with Amazi-Girl, but… now that I actually think about it, this was rather unanimously called wasn’t it?
I completely forgot about Amazi-Girl. I guess that happens when one day of comic time is more than a month of real time.
Yeah, every six months or so I find myself go back through all my comic’s archives just to refresh my memories… and that can take six months, easy >.<
THEY AREN’T SPEAKING TO ONE ANOTHER THAT MEANS THEY’RE GONNA FUCK
agreed
Awww it’s love at first “mumblemumbleIhatepeoplemumble”
Achievement Unlocked 15G
The Anti-Socialist: Reach level 12 of angst.
Is she texting, or just playing a GBA game on her DS Lite?
Ever play Mario Kart DS with a touch screen? Sounds terrifying, doesn’t it?
I’ve played mario kart DS. The touch screen shows the map, and has no controls whatsoever. Tapping the touchscreen switches it between just a line map, ala every other mario kart, or a detailed map focused around the player’s character.
Diddy kong racing had controls on the touch screen though, but I don’t see how any of this is relevant in the slightest since her hands would have to be in a different position for it to work in the slightest.

(im specualting shes playing one of the littl’st pet shop games)
Hmmm, was wondering when these two would meet. I guess it’s no surprise that they would have similar computer interests, after all.
That said, does the DS HAVE achievements?
nope. Pretty sure thats just xbox 360.
I think she was just using the phrase for the sake of using the phrase.
Or rather, her use of nerdy tropes and colloquialisms help shield her from human contact, allowing her to be by herself and not be disturbed, which I think was the main intention.
Amber-to-English translation:
“I was not and am not thinking of talking to you. You have succeeded in your goal.
Congratulations.”
No…. no, I think she was just playing her game and actually out loud mentioned that she unlocked an achievement in it…. both are likely.
Like, it could be a crack of WoW that you can play on a smartphone; though why the HELL you would want to attempt it on a tiny screen escapes me….. Eh, addicts.
No…. no, I think Reboot is correct.
While nintendo doesn’t have an achievements system, some ds/wii games have their own personal achievements.
Yeah, she could be playing N+.
Hey is that Shaggy sitting behind Danny and Amber?
Because he and Scooby must find out who Amazi-girl is!
I literally just said to myself “Well, two characters are talking to each other, better go check out all the new ‘shippers in the comments. ”
Disappointed I was not.
I think it is because we’ve got a) well-known characters with b) wide-open potential because of the reboot.
I noticed the same thing in the new Star Trek movie. Spock & Uhura FTW!
Is that Shaggy sitting behind Danny?
Like, Totally, Scoob.
Ru-roh, rye sense a cwossover.
Wait a sec. So he went to a college he didn’t want to go to purely to be with his girlfriend, whom he knew wanted to go to a different college anyway. So he was expecting both himself and Dorothy to be happy going to a college neither wanted to go to?

She’d stay, or he’d blow off his own education and follow her.
He didn’t think his plan through very well.
Let’s hope no one dies for him to get the lesson this time.
Actual hook-up’s in the making, or red herrings by Walky?
And is it me, or does anyone eles’s Danger Sense goes off when they consider Ruth and Mike MIGHT actually LIKE ( I.E. not outright hate) each other??
*shudder*
I suspect if it’s going to happen at all, they will be in “ships passing in the night” mode for quite some time beforehand.
Dangit.. I want that achievement.. and my own life achievement score board…
Amazi-girl! w00T
I think a “life achievement score board” would be the most depressing thing imaginable. On the other hand, it could provide direction.
Yup. Very depressing or very motivational. It all depends upon your point of view.
good job moron, thats right… it takes a while to discover it but eventually you notice all your mistakes ¬_¬
Amber be Amazi-girl. It took me a week to figure that out o3o
Wow.
Dannys even more of a jacka** in this ‘verse than in the main Walkyverse…and I didn’t even think that was possible.
Achievement unlocked indeed.
well he’s all angsty right now too & cut him some slack, his gf broke up with him XD
Angst!Danny? Nice shirt.
Gray is the new black.
Hmmm… I always though IU had a pretty good rep as a CS school. I acknowledge that Purdue’s engineering program as a whole is better respected than IU’s, but purely in terms of CS, I thought IU was on par…
Oh, and funny comic =)
Better reputation? Getting a job after college can depend just as much on your grades as where you went to school.
Ewww they are at IU? Yes, Danny should have gone to Purdue!
you know whatd be cute… interreality relationships, angst-danny and emo-robin!
Dear god, all universes would fucking explode!
In Poland they tell Purdue jokes.

Achievement Unlocked: Cynical Statement that points back to one’s bad life experiences! Good job, mate! =D
From Blonde Amber to Amber?
from hateful mike (blonde) to hateful danny
too obvious
From World of Warcraft to Nintendo DS.
Wait, isn’t Purdue in Indiana as well?
Yes, but he doesn’t mean the state, he means Indiana University. As it’s in Bloomington and Purdue is in West Lafayette, that would put them about a hundred miles apart.
Whether or not you see this as a long way depends on how much you normally move about, and whether or not you can drive.
Ahhh okay, makes more sense now.
I was like, “I’m having Deja Vu. o.o”
I majored in CS at Purdue; it’s not at all a good CS school. It’s got a good engineering department, but mediocre CS.
Wow it’s kinda wierd seeing Danny and Amber in the same place yeah I know she saved him as Amazi-Girl but we haven’t really seen the Roomies and Shortpacked characters together in the same panel till now.
GREEEETINGS FROM THE FUTURE. Here’s a tidbit to which I might make you all familiar:
Amber would have been much better off if she’d followed his advice.
