Billie seems to be the only one here to notice the glisteny sweat on the masked strangers faaaaaaaaaace in panel 2. Also i’m curious what Billie is thinking to ask for her 2nd question to a masked stranger that saved her butt, “how much do you weigh?” not like who are you or, why did you do that, or WHO ARE YOU lolol

It does seem like Amazi-Girl has some kind of superpowers, though. If Billie, in-universe, thinks it’s weird, then there must be oddness.

Well, the Cast page does state that Amber is “surprisingly fit for someone who sits on the computer all day”.

(Of course I only wrote that to humor your ridiculous assumption that Amber would be Amazi-Girl.)

She did run practically full speed just to pick her up like that, that gives one the momentum to be able to carry something pretty heavy all at once not to mention adrenaline can be a very interesting effect in a body. Amber probably has a lot of adrenaline stashed up giving her the ability to go between regular strength and super strength. Or maybe she was caught by aliens in this universe and given partial super strength, as a test experiment but not enough to make it last for a long period of time.

I always liked Captain Stupendous’s take on this. That superpowered individuals are just terrible at seeing through even the most rudimentary disguise, to the point that if you grow a mustache they think you’re a new person. Mortals can tell, but who the hell would ever call superman on it (for obvious reasons, this universe was lacking in Luthor types)?

The Robin-type mask always seemed ridiculous to me. The only facial feature it hides is his eyebrows. It’s terrible. The only being with a more poorly hidden secret identity than robin is sailor moon.

As long as you don’t look too distinct, hiding the eyes is all you need for a disguise. It’s when the hero in question starts hanging out with those that s/he saved that it starts to get complicated. Besides, Sailor Moon has magic to protect her identity.

Totally right, though. Who would call out the person who just took on three thugs as part of a hobby, much less an actual superman.

Superheroes don’t actually need glasses. They just use them for disguise. Clark Kent, Peter Parker, and now I guess Amber has tried adopting the non-prescription lens as well.

What was Amber’s er.. Ultra Car’s actual secret origin I wonder? Wanted to be a superhero like Kick-Ass? Lots of bullies in her neighborhood? Decided to “change herself” for college in the most spectacularly stupid way possible?

Growing up with a homosexual friend and a guy who constantly picks fights for the heck of it, Amazi-Girl probably took up the superhero mantle to help protect her friends from too much harm.

Amazigirl! She’s impervious to criticism! And bone fracture! Maybe, since criticism can’t break her down over a period of time, this renders her immune system more effective, and her mineral uptake more effective. Let’s do a study!

I dunno. That look on the last panel looks more concerned that I generally give her credit for. And, all things considered, Billie isn’t a completely unlikable stuck up bongo…least she wasn’t in the other ‘verse’. Not in the end.

        Yes…this is all true..but…

She only became a likable person after Danny gave her love…so until that happens (or someone else who’s “ok” gives her love) I can’t say for sure there are redeeming qualities about Billie yet…

but she still didn’t deserve to have her most treasured ruined…

Amazi-Girl just lifted Billie and ran with her. Billie is a cheerleader. Cheerleaders often lift each other. This is not a terribly common feat. If Amazi-Girl is within an acceptable weight range, Billie may try to recruit her.

Obviously, Amazi-Girl’s power is being amazing. If it would be amazing for her to do it, she can. It was amazing of her to carry Billie out of trouble. It would not be amazing of her to carry Billie into class.

It’s also amazing that she changed into her costume so fast.

She was wearing a blue T-shirt, so she couldn’t have been wearing it under her clothes, There was a certain amount of staring and discussion after that, though, so a quick change isn’t out of the question.

Ok, heres a theory to consider, to the best of my knowledge in neither world does Amber have any sort of powers, Amazi-girl is just something she does, so 2 theories erupt from this, she has some type of power (slight though it may be) that transcends differant universes (like that hasn’t been done before on these strips, lets here it for the amazing cheese), or she just gets a serious adrenaline rush on both worlds playing the Amazi-girl persona.

    • begbert2

Amber may not have powers, but in Shortpacked! she’s been shown to be fairly strong once or twice. Plus, you know, man of steel/woman of tissue isn’t happening, in a universe where thumpasprungs have been known to demolish hotels. So Amber may be a lot tougher than she looks, in Shortpacked!.

Though I don’t know what that has to do with this comic, since Shortpacked! is a different continuity, where Amber actually *has* been confirmed to be Amazi-girl.
