Billie seems to be the only one here to notice the glisteny sweat on the masked strangers faaaaaaaaaace in panel 2. Also i’m curious what Billie is thinking to ask for her 2nd question to a masked stranger that saved her butt, “how much do you weigh?” not like who are you or, why did you do that, or WHO ARE YOU lolol
Hard to say. Amb…Amazi-girl does LOOK bigger, but she also works out regularly to fight crime. Billie started out as a cheerleader, but as Ruth kindly pointed out, that uniform don’t fit no more….
Hmmm….well, I will totally admit that the girl immune to all criticism having the alter ego of the girl super vulnerability to any possible type of criticism is a nice twist, but then I’d expect Amazigirl’s exploits to involve more explosives.
She did run practically full speed just to pick her up like that, that gives one the momentum to be able to carry something pretty heavy all at once not to mention adrenaline can be a very interesting effect in a body. Amber probably has a lot of adrenaline stashed up giving her the ability to go between regular strength and super strength. Or maybe she was caught by aliens in this universe and given partial super strength, as a test experiment but not enough to make it last for a long period of time.
Billie, Billie, Billie. The pretty hero in yellow and blue just saved your bacon. Now, do as she says and GET TO CLASS.
(You know, that thing you were flying down the hallway to get to originally?)
I always liked Captain Stupendous’s take on this. That superpowered individuals are just terrible at seeing through even the most rudimentary disguise, to the point that if you grow a mustache they think you’re a new person. Mortals can tell, but who the hell would ever call superman on it (for obvious reasons, this universe was lacking in Luthor types)?
The Robin-type mask always seemed ridiculous to me. The only facial feature it hides is his eyebrows. It’s terrible. The only being with a more poorly hidden secret identity than robin is sailor moon.
As long as you don’t look too distinct, hiding the eyes is all you need for a disguise. It’s when the hero in question starts hanging out with those that s/he saved that it starts to get complicated. Besides, Sailor Moon has magic to protect her identity.
Totally right, though. Who would call out the person who just took on three thugs as part of a hobby, much less an actual superman.
I’d like to know how she’s able to see so well too. Unless she’s got contacts she’s been able to fight off people at night without her glasses and now she just lifted someone above her shoulders while running.
Superheroes don’t actually need glasses. They just use them for disguise. Clark Kent, Peter Parker, and now I guess Amber has tried adopting the non-prescription lens as well.
Either that, or she has the capacity to operate with Sonar a-la daredevil.
She’s trying to maintain a secret identity so it might just be a weak lie, rather than her being delusional. There’s not proof she ACTUALLY believes that.
What was Amber’s er.. Ultra Car’s actual secret origin I wonder? Wanted to be a superhero like Kick-Ass? Lots of bullies in her neighborhood? Decided to “change herself” for college in the most spectacularly stupid way possible?
Growing up with a homosexual friend and a guy who constantly picks fights for the heck of it, Amazi-Girl probably took up the superhero mantle to help protect her friends from too much harm.
Amazigirl! She’s impervious to criticism! And bone fracture! Maybe, since criticism can’t break her down over a period of time, this renders her immune system more effective, and her mineral uptake more effective. Let’s do a study!
I dunno. That look on the last panel looks more concerned that I generally give her credit for. And, all things considered, Billie isn’t a completely unlikable stuck up bongo…least she wasn’t in the other ‘verse’. Not in the end.
She only became a likable person after Danny gave her love…so until that happens (or someone else who’s “ok” gives her love) I can’t say for sure there are redeeming qualities about Billie yet…
but she still didn’t deserve to have her most treasured ruined…
Amazi-Girl just lifted Billie and ran with her. Billie is a cheerleader. Cheerleaders often lift each other. This is not a terribly common feat. If Amazi-Girl is within an acceptable weight range, Billie may try to recruit her.
Obviously, Amazi-Girl’s power is being amazing. If it would be amazing for her to do it, she can. It was amazing of her to carry Billie out of trouble. It would not be amazing of her to carry Billie into class.
It’s also amazing that she changed into her costume so fast.
She was wearing a blue T-shirt, so she couldn’t have been wearing it under her clothes, There was a certain amount of staring and discussion after that, though, so a quick change isn’t out of the question.
Ok, heres a theory to consider, to the best of my knowledge in neither world does Amber have any sort of powers, Amazi-girl is just something she does, so 2 theories erupt from this, she has some type of power (slight though it may be) that transcends differant universes (like that hasn’t been done before on these strips, lets here it for the amazing cheese), or she just gets a serious adrenaline rush on both worlds playing the Amazi-girl persona.
Amber may not have powers, but in Shortpacked! she’s been shown to be fairly strong once or twice. Plus, you know, man of steel/woman of tissue isn’t happening, in a universe where thumpasprungs have been known to demolish hotels. So Amber may be a lot tougher than she looks, in Shortpacked!.
Though I don’t know what that has to do with this comic, since Shortpacked! is a different continuity, where Amber actually *has* been confirmed to be Amazi-girl.
Stop being difficult, Billie! Just accept the obviously fake cover story!
Billie seems to be the only one here to notice the glisteny sweat on the masked strangers faaaaaaaaaace in panel 2. Also i’m curious what Billie is thinking to ask for her 2nd question to a masked stranger that saved her butt, “how much do you weigh?” not like who are you or, why did you do that, or WHO ARE YOU lolol
not like “thank you” either…
It does seem like Amazi-Girl has some kind of superpowers, though. If Billie, in-universe, thinks it’s weird, then there must be oddness.
It’s also possible that Amber secretly works out a lot.
But that just sounds silly.
And we all know that Dumbing of Age eschews silliness in all its forms.
Fifty. McNuggets.
i just had them ! :D….. …. again
Well, the Cast page does state that Amber is “surprisingly fit for someone who sits on the computer all day”.
(Of course I only wrote that to humor your ridiculous assumption that Amber would be Amazi-Girl.)
I wonder if Amazi-Girl has that Christian Bale growl and if so is it really exaggerated after carrying Billie.
I think this is their first interaction, so she probably doesn’t have to.
I read “GET TO CLASS” as the intimidation, do what I say, voice if that’s what you mean?
And Amazi-Girl has super dense bones! Huzzah!
Hmm… who DOES weigh more? Amazi-Girl or Billie?
That depends, who’s boobs are bi-*bricked*
That should be obvious! Why it’s -*bricked*
Maybe David should do one of those boob chart- *Bricked*
Hard to say. Amb…Amazi-girl does LOOK bigger, but she also works out regularly to fight crime. Billie started out as a cheerleader, but as Ruth kindly pointed out, that uniform don’t fit no more….
Huh, that’s weird. Was wondering why the icon was wrong, seems my laptop had different autofill settings for Gravatar. I will fix this now!
When Ruth hears about that: “With those femurs, I could–dare I say it?–rule the world!”
Will this be followed by a maniacal laugh as she looks up at something and does the “I’m holding invisible balls in my hands” pose?
Formally known as “milking the giant cow”.
Probably Amazi-girl.
Not only does she look bigger, but muscle is pound-for-pound denser than fat, and I suspect that her extracurricular activities favor the former.
Hoo? When I hear Hoo, I don’t really think of exhaustion too much, much more James Brown if anything.
Billie, stop being ungrateful and do what the mysterious stranger tells you.
Yeah because seriously she is missing class right now.
Who is obviously Ultra-Car.
Ultra-Car. Is not. Amazi-Girl. Amber is Spider-Car. WE DO NOT KNOW WHO AMAZI-GIRL IS!
Then why have we never seen Amazi-Girl and Ultra-Car in the same place at the same time? Explain that, smarty pants!
Heck! Both of their names have hyphens in them! Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
Umm… does Ultra-car even EXIST in this universe?
Umm, in fact, we have seen them together.
http://www.shortpacked.com/2007/comic/book-5/07-the-spectacular-spider-car/golf/
No no, in this universe Amazi-Girl is Dina!
“No no, in this universe Amazi-Girl is Dina!”
Hmmm….well, I will totally admit that the girl immune to all criticism having the alter ego of the girl super vulnerability to any possible type of criticism is a nice twist, but then I’d expect Amazigirl’s exploits to involve more explosives.
Joebo: That’s not Ultra-Car! That’s Spider-Car!
@ Joebo and Dedlok: And that’s how we know that Amber can’t be Amazi-Girl in the SP!Universe, because Amber is Spider-Car.
I don’t see how super-dense bones would give super-strength. Also, isn’t Amber a comp sci major?
Not really super strength, but it does allow a larger weight to be carried, proportionately speaking.
what does computer science have to do with anything? Are you suggesting she should have written a program to carry Billie for her?
I support this. Amber can reprogram reality. Unfortunately, this is Amazi-girl, who we don’t know who she is.
Would that be setup for a crossover with The Fancy Adventures of Jack Cannon? Because that would be rad.
Yes, the facepunches would be epic.
You mean DINA probably has a lot of adrenaline stashed up. Amazi-Girl is OBVIOUSLY Dina. :p
Billie, Billie, Billie. The pretty hero in yellow and blue just saved your bacon. Now, do as she says and GET TO CLASS.
(You know, that thing you were flying down the hallway to get to originally?)
Honestly? At this point I’d be way more interested in the weirdo running around in her pajamas, too.
Also she can’t seriously expect that domino mask to hide her identity.
Mask+Glasses wearing secret identity=unidentifiable.
This. The Incredibles proved this.

Totally right, though. Who would call out the person who just took on three thugs as part of a hobby, much less an actual superman.
lol in a lab accident. she’s the batman of DoA: no powers but still tries to be super
And nobody believed me when I said it! D:
i’m sorry i didnt see you post that, but i’ve thought that since she first debuted as amazi-girl
She could be far-sighted, or need them to prevent eyestrain when reading but more or less able to function without them.
Two things:
1: Billie just called herself fat.
B: Amber appears to be delusional.
She’s trying to maintain a secret identity so it might just be a weak lie, rather than her being delusional. There’s not proof she ACTUALLY believes that.
yet. There’s no proof yet.
Clearly, all that Wow has made her addicted to roleplay, so she’s playing a hero elsewhere.
I like this theory.
Clearly you haven’t played WoW. There is no roleplaying whatsoever.
Clearly you haven’t played WoW on a role-playing Server
There is no roleplay on RP servers. D: sadly. Ray likes roleplaying almost as much as she likes referring to herself in the 3rd person.
My skull was rendered super-dense in an argument with my sister over Harry Potter.
Am I a super hero too?
Yes, yes it does.
AWESOME!
I Have The Power… To Annoy!
I’ll let you know how my first day of superheroics goes.
Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Use your new-found powers wisely and for great justice!
Secondly, how did it go?
You’re Kickass!
Ha! What an obvious lie!
Cars don’t even have bones!
Exactly! But if Amazi-Girl had said “My frame’s ultra dense!” his secret identity would have been figured out!
Phhht, Ultra-Car? Amazi-Girl is clearly Future-Danny.
Still immune to criticism. And reality.
Immune to reality would be a good power.
At least until the day an evil mime traps you in an invisible box.
Easily solved with an invisible rocket launcher.
What was Amber’s er.. Ultra Car’s actual secret origin I wonder? Wanted to be a superhero like Kick-Ass? Lots of bullies in her neighborhood? Decided to “change herself” for college in the most spectacularly stupid way possible?
somethin bout having fun with a cornpopper
Growing up with a homosexual friend and a guy who constantly picks fights for the heck of it, Amazi-Girl probably took up the superhero mantle to help protect her friends from too much harm.
That actually sounds vaguely reasonable. “Amazi-Girl! Scourge of Gay-Bashers wherever they may hide!”
This isn’t the first time a superhero has gotten Billie off.
Heyo!
I’m not sure I understand why Billie asked about Amazi-Girl’s weight…
Because someone who looks as tiny as Amazi-Girl really shouldn’t be able to hold up Billie.
Amazigirl! She’s impervious to criticism! And bone fracture! Maybe, since criticism can’t break her down over a period of time, this renders her immune system more effective, and her mineral uptake more effective. Let’s do a study!
Then make a Force-sensitive clone army from her cells. *Mwahahahahaha*
Sticks and stones won’ break my bones and words will never hurt me.
“Sticks and stones won’ break my bones and words will never hurt me.” My god….she’s truly unstoppable!
One of my bones is rendered super-dense every time Amazi-girl makes an appearance.
You are the worst person. Its you.
I’d like to render Amazi-Girl super dense.
With my penis.
Oh my god…
Is…Is Billie genuinely concerned?
I’m getting the impression she more “What the hell…?” still.
That’s my interpretation as well. Though maybe she is at least a little appreciative.
This, definitely this. Poor Billie just wants to know wtf is going on. And why she got denied punching the hated RA.
Yeah…you guys ‘re prolly right…
I dunno. That look on the last panel looks more concerned that I generally give her credit for. And, all things considered, Billie isn’t a completely unlikable stuck up bongo…least she wasn’t in the other ‘verse’. Not in the end.
Yes…this is all true..but…
She only became a likable person after Danny gave her love…so until that happens (or someone else who’s “ok” gives her love) I can’t say for sure there are redeeming qualities about Billie yet…
but she still didn’t deserve to have her most treasured ruined…
It doesn’t matter how much Amazi-Girl weighs because she is IMPERVIOUS TO CRITICISM.
billie needs to stop amazi-girl and get her to sign the roomate agreement form. i’m positive that she’s really sal.
Ain’t Sal in class right now?
we never saw her go inside!
Billie, now is not the time to debate cannon.
Boom?
Amazi-Girl just lifted Billie and ran with her. Billie is a cheerleader. Cheerleaders often lift each other. This is not a terribly common feat. If Amazi-Girl is within an acceptable weight range, Billie may try to recruit her.
Obviously, Amazi-Girl’s power is being amazing. If it would be amazing for her to do it, she can. It was amazing of her to carry Billie out of trouble. It would not be amazing of her to carry Billie into class.
It’s also amazing that she changed into her costume so fast.
Who says she wasn´t wearing the costume already?
Who says it’s a costume? It could be unusual skin secretions.

Though I don’t know what that has to do with this comic, since Shortpacked! is a different continuity, where Amber actually *has* been confirmed to be Amazi-girl.
Huh. Is it just me, or does Billie seem uncharacteristically concerned and worried for the well being of the person who saved her butt?
Ha! Billie actually made me laugh!
Clearly Billie has not realized that Amazi-Girl is immune to criticism.
Looks like she have to power to summon elevator, nonetheless.
Bones….lab….Wolverine? Is that you?
