-Hey Brian
-Yeah, Jim?
-Have you noticed we’re always walking together in the background
-That’s cuz we’re best friends, but don’t do drama
-At least not plot worthy drama
-Right. Now buy me a slice.
I do that all the time on accident. It’s because I’m that rare combination of “quiet” and “a foot taller than everyone.” Like Batman without the ass-kicking or style.
The foot taller thing probably has nothing to do with it.
I’m of average height, but I move quietly. I unintentionally surprise people even when completely not intending to. I hate making noise when I walk. Shoes, floor, keys, anything drives me nuts.
(There’s a fun side effect: sneaking up on people when you want to is so much easier when you normally suppress any noise when moving.)
I did that all the time in high school, though I think it had less to do with me being quiet and stealthy, and more to do with other people being really inattentive to their surroundings.
I’m the same way, I’m amazingly quiet for someone my size, and my voice is inadvertently “Creepy deep” Add in my lumberjack beard and i’ve caused a few “HOLY SHIT NINJA SANTA!!”s in my day.
Same here. Something I’ve learned over the years is that sometimes it’s better just to apologize if you know you did something wrong. It takes the person by surprise and can help you avoid unneeded resentment. And it makes you feel better that you at least tried.
I’ma just take a moment to appreciate the ethnically diverse cast, which doesn’t even mention the fact that they’re ethnically diverse! It’s like, they’re really people! So Nice.
It has actually come up a few times, mostly in relation to Joyce, who doesn’t know how to handle these things. She called Sarah being black “a novelty”, her concern over her use of the word “sister” caused Billie to mention her half-Asian heritage, and she thought Walky was native-American.
But beyond that–no, it isn’t a big deal, which is really cool.
Spent time in the corner and had thought about what I had done and I found out that yes, my mind is an enigma wrapped in a mystery which is then stored in a locked iron box which is inside a titanium safe and the only way to open said safe is to answer a random question. And it is weird.
Aaaaaand that is how to use violence in a “good” way. Sarah apoloigizes (yet again proving herslef to be the better person), Raidah lives in fear or her, and no promises of never face punching again were made.
If a line like that would make any difference, Raidah’s past heckling would have consisted of more than “She was getting better” and a bunch of put-downs to justify her point of view. Sarah relates too much to Raidah on a empathic level for it not to backfire.
Honestly, I wanna see more background on Raidah that doesn’t have to do with her little holy war against Sarah. The side of herself that Sarah, Dana and so forth have never seen and so on. Something tells me it would be very…Informative…
If that happens, it would certainly be a sign that Sarah is learning. The two should consider renting The Prestige and then try to figure out which one of the “two” rival illusionists they are.
An apology in which you then take great amusement at someone being rightfully afraid of you because you just punched them is hard to take sincerely.
To make a joke like she did in last panel really detracts, and is pretty callous and cold. Especially when Radiah seem genuinely afraid, and rightfully so.
Yes, Sarah.
JOIN THE DARK SIDE
I’m pretty sure she’s been there for a while.
That’s racist!
(no it isn’t but I couldn’t resist)
Good, good. Let the hate flow through you.
Barring that, let the nacho cheese flow through you.
With that icon… an absolutely perfect comment.
If you bought it at Taco Bell, it probably will anyway…
No, Sarah. JOIN THE MUFFIN SIDE!
Rule the galaxy as muffin and muffin master.
I just don’t know what went wrong…
Yeah, it’s a mystery…
Quick everybody …. to the mystery machine for another adventure and a mystery to solve.
And usually the mystery turned out to be a hoax.
. . . by the first person they meet.
NINJA SARAH
BAT-SARAH!
Dina rubbing off on Sarah?
Sarah enjoys instilling fear in the hearts of criminals.
I am the night
“NO! NO! YOU ARE NOT MY FATHER! I AM NOT A DISGRACE! I AM VENGEANCE! I AM THE NIGHT! I AM BATMAN!”
She’s Darkwing Duck??
She is the terror that FLAPS IN THE NIGHT.
She is the batteries that are not included!
She is the jackal that gnaws on your bones!
I thought she was the stern lecturer that bats in the night?
Totally read that as “Faps in the night”.
And now, my childhood is ruined.
There’s a dog turd on the sneeze guard.
I believe they serve that at most cafeterias in the US.
Especially high school ones. The youth are our future, after all.
It is what has helped make the US the country it is today.
Who are we today, Plaz?
The mystery meat capital of the world.
True… Unfortunately. When I eat lunch, I have to drink a cup of black coffee just to get the taste of ass outta my mouth.
You trade the taste of ass for the taste of cigarette butts?
I personally enjoy the taste of black coffee. Because I’m a MANLY MAN.
Either way you still have to taste the behind.
It appears to be steaming, so at least it’s fresh.
Just slap some BBQ sauce on there and you’re good to go.
She’s gonna punch Raidah in the FAAACE again to get more laughs.
“NOT IN THE FACE! NOT IN THE FACE!”
-Hey Brian
-Yeah, Jim?
-Have you noticed we’re always walking together in the background
-That’s cuz we’re best friends, but don’t do drama
-At least not plot worthy drama
-Right. Now buy me a slice.
These two are my new faves.
Brian and Jim is the textbook example of Those Two Guys.
I think that, besides the main dudes, they’re the only two other guys on campus.
What about Shaggy?!
The two have no personality, characterization, or plot relevance.
Quick, let’s go find out how many fanfics have already been written shipping them together!
I’m beginning to think the Internet just makes up these titles.
Dude, TV Tropes.
Still, he’s not entirely wrong.
Also, what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t link you to their home page?
One that doesn’t want me to die?
I think that’s the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on Sarah.
I don’t know…the Humoring Billie Smile was pretty big too.
Yeah, I did a double-take when I saw that.
I wish I could inspire primal terror just by walking up to someone. Like Batman.
I do that all the time on accident. It’s because I’m that rare combination of “quiet” and “a foot taller than everyone.” Like Batman without the ass-kicking or style.
The foot taller thing probably has nothing to do with it.

Somebody draw this at once.
Ditto, only more “Ninja Rasputin!”
I, for one, applaud Sarah for doing this. Considering the whole situation, it took guts for her to apologize like that.
Same here. Something I’ve learned over the years is that sometimes it’s better just to apologize if you know you did something wrong. It takes the person by surprise and can help you avoid unneeded resentment. And it makes you feel better that you at least tried.
The thoughts running in Raidah’s head would be: “NOT IN THE FACE”
More like “NOT IN THE BOOB”
Prepare to die, obviously!
Is her BF about to get F’d in the B?
Good for Sarah for apologizing. It is right, I guess. On the other hand, good on you Sarah, for enjoying the reaction to your arrival.
You mean he isn’t?
What IS his background then? So enigmatic…
Biracial, black-white.
I thought he was a sentient caramel sculpture.
He is, ignore the naysayers, they’re just trying confuse you.
Seeing as how this is a universe of alternative coupling I have to wonder if Sarah and Mike will hook up.
Mike already hooked up with Sarah’s MOM for a nickel.
But wouldn’t hooking up with her mom make him the hooker? Instead of her mom, I mean. She’d have to be a hookee.
Man, that’d have to screw with her whole business…
How are we going to twist this apology into an evil act?
Making Raidah beg and plead while naked and singing “I’m So Pretty” while doing an Irish step dance. Wow, my mind is so weird.
Go sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done.
Sarah’s next line:
“So, have you actually *spoken* to [ex-roommate who’s name I forget] lately?”
Dana.
Dana.
^ Dina
I don’t think Dina would do pot. At least, not to a destabilizing degree.
I think Tahrey was just pointing out that DMDOAD’s gravatar is Dina.
Dana, Dana, Dina.
Would you say she’s “surproused” by that face? I would say so.
Mental note: use this word more often.
Raidah is gonna look away for a second, and by the time she looks back, Sarah has already disappeared.
If that happens, it would certainly be a sign that Sarah is learning. The two should consider renting The Prestige and then try to figure out which one of the “two” rival illusionists they are.
Dina taught Sarah her secrets.
Sarah smiled. I like that
when the “Sarah”s of the world smile, they do manage to light up the room ……………in those RARE instances lol
*Googles “Landes”*
…ok, I have NO idea.
I had better luck googling “Indiana University Landes”
It’s the dining hall they’re in. And now you can appreciate how accurate and well-referenced the comic is!
Also, it’s apparently closed on Sundays.
XD
Im just not liking Sarah through all of this. This one is cementing my dislike more
Yeah! She apologized! What an asshole!
An apology in which you then take great amusement at someone being rightfully afraid of you because you just punched them is hard to take sincerely.
To make a joke like she did in last panel really detracts, and is pretty callous and cold. Especially when Radiah seem genuinely afraid, and rightfully so.
Man, me and my friends call that Tuesday.
Man, I wish more people would shriek at the site of me. It would make the subway so much roomier.
Or just louder.
I like how in the establishing shot, Sarah is nowhere nearby. Batman indeed!
