“no regrets moment”? At the risk of sounding ignorant, I have no idea what that is. When was she all “no regrets” ? When she was on a drunken spiral with Billie? Cause she’s doing way better now so I don’t think she’d relapse over this. Or is it something else?
“No regrets” is a phrase from the Walkyverse, where Ruth’s life took a very different turn early in the strip. Often paired with “act with integrity,” ditto.
Roomies! Is the first of the Walkyverse comics, which leads into It’s Walky!, Joyce & Walky!, and then finally Shortpacked! Dumbing of Age is an alternate universe with the same characters; kind of a “What if Martians *hadn’t* attacked Earth and Head Alien (from the planet Alien) hadn’t kidnapped all these kids as toddlers and infused their bodies with Martian DNA?”
I was going to say, cue Ruth busting in and saying “I’d tell you to get up, but it looks like you’re all out of femurs.”
Toedad slowly slides out of frame as his now-femurless legs give out. Next panel, Ruth has two bloody femurs and is beating henchman #3 over the head with one.
Sal’s probably off doing nighttime Sal things (smoking and lurking), the rest probably went back inside after they got the all-clear after the fire alarm.
Ruth and Amber plus Sal could probably destroy the kidnapper dads right now. Just sayin, y’know since no one really has a plan beyond trusting Amber’s decision making. It’s right there.
AG: Mind-

AG:We don’t know who to trust!

A:I’M NOT A HERO I’M GARBAGE!
For a minute I thought this was a sudden time jump to the next morning, but then I realized it’s just brightly lit cause Amber and Ruth are inside. This whole chapter has been so dark and shadowy that I forgot about the existence of indoor lighting
Okay, this seems like negligence from Ruth’s part, and it seems Amber just agreed to whatever Becky just planned… This whole story arc has been a depressing mess.
It could be that AG just wants her kit. In that case, Becky may be acting without coordination with Ambazigirl’s plan or that the phonecall was meant to buy time.
They’re college students, not babies. Negligence would be if she hadn’t made sure everyone got *out* of the building after the fire alarm went off.
That like 6 of her residents wandering off to get food is actually a much more reasonable assumption for Ruth to make than a group that size all being kidnapped at once
Call me vindictive…but I want to see a Ruth and Blaine rematch where Ruth ends him with the fire of a thousand suns.
Then Amber can feel both vindicated that her father is put down, but also not harbor the guilt of having done it herself.
Although I admit after the changes in her life since that last incident, I’m not certain Ruth still has that level of rage in her…but maybe she could approach it like Gabriel Law in the “The One”, embracing a zen-like rage rather than indulging in pure ferocity.
I’m surprised Amber’s just walking back to her dorm. I figured she was going back to get her Amazi-Girl costume and return to where Ross and Blaine have everyone to rescue them.
Her costume is in the dorm. She was pulling an all-nighter to keep Amazigirl at bay when the alarm went off. Returning to the dorm was part of the plan.
A day late but i am now patiently awaiting the moment where action kicks off and the hostage situation goes to hell. As everyone begins punching and kicking their way out, Dina finds herself squaring off against Toedad. Punches are thrown, and Dina scratches and bites her way to victory. Just before the final blow can be struck, she looks Toedad square in the eyes, and finally asks, ‘Have you seen Jurassic Park?’
I hope the chapter name ‘When it crumbles’ refers to the dysfunctional split between Amber and Amazi-Girl. Along those lines, Amber has had a rough time and looks really fragile right now — and she and Amazi-Girl have already been talking. Maybe now that someone seems to be genuinely concerned, she will just let it all out — in a hugely cathartic montage of confession and revelation, probably accompanied by a genuine breakdown. Or maybe Willis will want that after the kidnapping resolves, and Amber will just give a numb ‘gotta sleep…’, while Becky kicks ass and saves the day. Becky deserves to have a showdown where she wins, and ends up with her independence and (from her friends at the very least) personal validation; so maybe that is in store.
I don’t know how all of this is going to work out for Blaine — Amazi-Girl has ruled out killing him, so he will continue to be a constant thorn. Unless there is a police confrontation where bullets fly and he dies — his insurance, at least, could end up helping Amber and his new family.
Optimus Prime broke down and cried on the set of "Transformers" (2007) due to the extensive use of green screen filming. He reportedly said, "This is not why I became an actor."
“I’m just going to say it, shame on any of us who throws a trans child under the bus for thinking they’re going to get elected. That child deserves our support. Don’t worry about the pollsters calling it distractions, because we need to be the party of human dignity.”
Minnesota Star Tribune@startribune.com ⋅ 2d
Gov. Tim Walz is doubling down on trans rights — and criticizing members of his party who are retreating — at a time when the issue has become a political lightning rod nationally and back home in Minnesota.
they managed to get the arms and thighs to be different grays, which I wasn't sure they'd be able to do, the way the mold's set up
though maybe they're just producing a lot of extra thighs and/or arms in the wrong colors and throwing those away, i dunno
“social distancing”
More like anti-social distancing, amirite?
“Didn’t they close campus? I knew the adults around here were worthless, but what is this, Liberty University?”
C’mon, guys, it’s November in the DoA universe, remember? There’s no way social distancing will still be a thing in November, right?
…Right?
Also, Willis would have needed to know about COVID back in, like, January, and that’s, like…
Sadly possible, as China was coping with it then. There, but for a competent and well-funded pandemic task force, go us.
It’s still October in the DOAverse.
Ruth is ON IT, isn’t she?
RA of the month, here we come.
Will she beat Toedad with his own femurs?
It just makes me sad because I feel like regardless of what she does or how hard she’s trying she going to get fucked over by all of this.
I don’t know why I didn’t see the alt-text coming a mile away. Because it obviously was.
I’m on mobile and can’t read alt text. What is it?
“oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment”
“oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment”
“Oh, they’re just a bit tied up at the moment
Now y’all sing it in harmony!
King’s got the lead, sircona strikes me as a tenor, katosen’s got da bass, guess I’ll do baritone!
“Oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment”
They did, you just were too far away to hear it.
What is this, Outer Wilds?
Try tapping the space just below the comic to see it on mobile:
“oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment”
On mobile, at least on android, you can press and hold underneath the second last panel and then the alt text will pop up. For me I know it has worked when the rest of the screen has sort of darkened a bit.
On my android phone, I have to press and hold on the comoc itself.
There are 2 hidden buttons next to “latest” and “first”. So if you imagine there being more buttons and try to press them, you get the alt text.
Wow, all of you raced to get that in there and that race ended all tied up.
Just a bit, at the moment.
life hack: click and hold the image, then click the popup that comes up

AttackingClicking the darkness makes it and the text go away.“oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment”
I don’t know why that went in the wrong place also I should have refreshed first
That sign on the hallway, left: “CLARK. We have fun. Or else.”?
I mean, after that, I don’t know if actually finding it out would be a letdown.
Yep, looks like that’s what it says…
I thought it said “CLARE” at first, and was thinking “wait, does the comic have a Clare?”
Wonder if Clare is related to Samantha…
Daniel the Human has a Niece and a Nephew….
BloodRose’s real name…
Now y’all sing it in harmony!
“oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment”
*sings “oh they’re just a bit tied up at the moment” but the tune is horrendous*
Sing it to the tune of “Oh, how I hate to get up in the morning…”
How about some Cole Porter?
I’d like to sup with my baby tonight,
Fill the cup with my baby tonight,
But I ain’t up to my baby tonight
‘Cause I’m too tied up
is that like “Oh, what a beautiful morning” Barer?
*plays The Pretenders’ “Where Has Everybody Gone?” from the 007: The Living Daylights soundtrack on the hacked Muzak* (*gasp for breath*)
….followed by Jonathan King’s “Everyone’s Gone to the Moon”.
Now there’s a deep cut, from the guy who “discovered” both Genesis and 10cc
Follows with Genesis’ Land of Confusion
Oh Superman, where are you now
When everything’s gone wrong, somehow
When men of steel, and men of power
Are losing control by the hour
There’s too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go ’round
Can’t you see this is a land of confusion?
Amber’s having a hell of a day.
And it’s not even sunrise yet.
It’s going to be a long night for them. And even longer for us.
“It only takes one bad day…”
Maybe Ruth can help? At this point I’m all for trying anything that doesn’t involve Amazi-girl/Amber doing this alone. How can this possibly end well?
Personally, I would rather NOT see Ruth having a “no regrets” moment.
In Roomies! Ruth dies saving Danny’s life. her last words were, “Act with integrity, no regrets!”
http://www.itswalky.com/comic/act-with-integrity/
Oh! I haven’t read Roomies….Yeah let’s not have that!
Also a “What if…
allmost of these characters were roughly around the same age?”There was a pretty serious age difference between, for example, Joyce and Amber in the Walkyverse.
True. Forgot about that. After all, Ruth used to babysit Walky & Billie.
And then dated Billie. Before college
At this point, Amber/AG seems to have already surrendered.
one ominous stare and suddenly everyone’s asking you questions
This doesn’t add up… Amazigirl wouldn’t have just left her on her own by her word… She would stalk… Amber also appears… um…
I don’t know what she’s doing there, but maybe she’s getting her kit? I’d also like to have that phonecall made to buy me the most possible prep time.
Everybody is kung fu fightiiiiiiing!
Ruthless and Amazigirl kill toedad and villain dad!
With their own femurs.
We’re back in Clark, alright, just not net positively.
But “everybody” everybody? All other like, 8, girls shouldn’t be in this tangled mess
Maybe not “everybody” everybody, but I think there’s enough of them missing to justify Ruth’s perhaps slightly hyperbolic use of “everybody”.
In fact, you could read it as “everybody [who’s missing]”, so it depends how you contextualize it.
It is the majority of one particular social circle even if it isnt all the residents of the wing.
It’s the middle of the night, midterms week. Most of the ones not kidnapped are either back to sleep or pulling an all-nighter at the library.
Everybody, everybody?
Clark wing residents currently unaccounted for:
Rachel, Other Rachel, Roz, Mary, Carla, Sal, Malaya, Meredith, Agatha, Mandy, Grace.

Ruth: …do i need to call a counselor?
Oh good lord. Ruth is gonna be her instigator, isn’t she?
…not kidnapped?
Ruth gets into the fray, may God have mercy on those who threaten her charges.
Well, in a really grim way, she did attempt to kill the last person who threatened them. So, I don’t like Blaine’s chances.
And now time for Ruth to act with integrity, with no regrets…
Well, you managed to nail the “poor taste” comment dead on.
Good job.
“I mean, I’ve seen Agatha and the Rachels and Grace, but who cares about them? They’re clearly not important.”
“Mandy and Grace didn’t even know, and if the Greek Chorus is out of the loop SOMETHING must be going down.”
“I haven’t seen Mary either, but I kinda prefer it.”
For a minute I thought this was a sudden time jump to the next morning, but then I realized it’s just brightly lit cause Amber and Ruth are inside. This whole chapter has been so dark and shadowy that I forgot about the existence of indoor lighting
It’s gonna be big.

‘My residents were kidnapped by one of them’s mob stooge dad on a vengeance bender’ is not high on the list of foreseeable circumstances, no.
Yeah, you would have thought Willis would have warned us or something.
Oh, wait!
And that magically wound up in a totally different place. Let’s try that again.
No, it’s the right place. Other comments just magically appeared in between. I think it means I was responding to an archived copy of the page.

I was thinking different Jet Li movie; “Unleashed.”
Ruth isn’t angry anymore. She’s focused.

YES! Everyone seems to think AG has given up…
You wanted to rip femurs ? Have i got the occasion for you
(also that’s one glorious alt-text)
Hey, in 9 1/2 years, has there ever been another DofA strip sharing titles with a Twilight Zone episode?
We did get a “Time Enough at Last” ref, early on…
“Two” seems like a likely candidate.
“Amazigirl and The Femur,
Their enemies are dumber than a lemur,
The two of them will kick some asses,
Force and acceleration will defeat the masses…”
It’s a work in progress…
Oh, Ruth. Maybe she will do the right thing and call the cops…
If not, I can’t wait to see her rip out some femurs.
I love how much Ruth care. Maybe it’s time for an alliance?
Here’s how it goes:
Joyce saves Dorothy.
Becky saves Joyce.
Dina saves Becky.
All clear now?
I appreciate how this plan just leaves the two black kids tied up in the dark.
A day late but i am now patiently awaiting the moment where action kicks off and the hostage situation goes to hell. I’m worried Amber is still mulling over her statement that she can’t kill her dad. It’s worrying enough that she had to say that out loud.
Amazi-Girl said she can’t kill them; there’s no blushes in that panel. It remains to be seen whether that applies to Amber.

Seems like the encounter with Ryan would be more appropriate.

I feel like dead girl walking should be playing in the background… lol
Randon unrealted.. the new NSFW Slipshine. What character is that ? (its on the banner on the left side unde the comic strip)
New for that banner.

The first rule of being an RA (or any other position of authority) is don’t ask questions you don’t actually want the answers to.
I look forward to the cold, swift, and absolutely ridiculous entrance of Shift Schtick.
Schtick-Shift. Or whatever solution here involves pies in faces at the merciless hands of Carla.
