It’s worth mentioning that Ruth’s beef with Billie may have more in common with Raidah’s beef with Sarah than anyone realizes.
Taking the “Make out already, you two!” line a step too literally aside, I’m afraid this may be Homer Simpson accurately predicting the pollution in Springfield’s atmosphere would break down Bart’s killer comet to the size of a Chihuahua’s head all over again…
Were these people more likable when they were in the Walky! comic? Willis has mentioned not using Malaya in Dumbing because he’s still finding his footing with her and making the parallel universe version of her at this point would throw him off, but hell, half the female cast of Dumbing are already bitter and hostile to everything for no apparent reason, what the hell do we need Malaya for?
Raidah, to the best of my knowledge, is new or was a very minor character in the Walkyverse. Dana was a background one as well.
Billie was ill-adjusted from the start, but I’m pretty sure she only really became a major character after Ruth died. She was a heavy drinker before, though.
Ruth was always messed up, but I think she was more bitter and depressed, as opposed to here where she’s kind of evil.
Joyce had issues, but was WAY better with people from It’s Walky! on. Before, though? CRAZY STALKER. Near-yandere levels. This is actually BETTER than she was in Roomies, because she doesn’t cling onto the first one she meets and never let go.
Sarah? To the best of our knowledge, she was pretty much always a business-first lawyer type, but without the backstory.
Sal is less angsty and more “does not like people” here than in Walky.
I don’t subscribe to J&W, so I can’t say much about Dorothy, especially since it’s unfinished.
Amazi-Girl is always fabulous.
Dina… may have been slightly better-socialized in Walky, but was also REALLY bad with relationships. She was the one who dated Mike by keeping him continually drunk, if you read back to the start of the dating story.
Robin’s probably been one of the biggest changes, since she’s now actually kind of serious and uptight.
Roz seems a bit less obnoxious here, probably because we haven’t heard her opinions on sex addiction’s existence.
Joyce is quickly becoming the most interesting character in this comic. In some ways she’s even more sheltered than the original Joyce, but in other ways she seems a lot less naive.
First- I am surprised a sheltered girl like Joyce understands the concept of “bone city”, especially under such minimal context.
Second- she was appalled by the idea of premarital relations in her women’s studies course- so why is she suggesting it as an alternative for her friend now?
Third- THAT FACE. That does not seem like a Joyce face.
This is actually pretty common among home schooled people. The only thing is that they are normally more self-conscious and it takes a long time for them to come out of there shells. However once their comfortable they can throw banter like this back and forth with the best of them, sometimes better.

Good shot across the bows Joyce…didn’t know you had it in you. Billie didn’t like it a bit…which means she does want Walky? I just can’t see that ship. He is so ‘unaware’ and she is so self aware…how do they touch. As for Sarah, nope don’t apologize, you acted on the spur of the moment but that spur has been in your back for a year.
Wait, Billie’s the self-aware one? Billie? The one who’s trying to get in tight with the cheerleaders and drink her way to the top of the social ladder?
Excusable is different from acceptable. Apologizing is the right thing, because Raidah didn’t punch first or anything. Plus, it’ll leave Sarah with a sense of moral superiority that should last for weeks.

Don’t know if anyone out there’s voiced this yet, but I’ve just now started to suspect that Joyce’s shipping of Walky/Billie may eventually lead Billie to start noticing things that aren’t there between her and Walky. And all too soon she’ll find herself questioning her feelings for him…

By Billie’s logic she should make out with Ruth. Now that would be a choice, Billie or Walky. That being said I think Joyce is right about apologizing for hitting Raidah because that was uncalled for and perhaps Sarah might want to see someone about her anger problem.
Radiah been calling for it for months, with a loudspeaker. Sarah still could use a formal chill pill, though; she is the one* character that we’ve seen react to problems with violence. I mean, awesome as it was, that was a baseball bat she was using that time.
* making the natural assumption that Sarah is Amazigirl.
The one character? Even leaving Amazi-girl out of it, Joe would like to have a word about his date with Joyce. (Which, as somebody pointed out upthread, makes it ironic that Joyce is the one saying that you should apologize for hitting people.)
Ruth probably has a couple things to say about a certain cheerleader’s floor meeting conduct as well.
It’s worth mentioning that Ruth’s beef with Billie may have more in common with Raidah’s beef with Sarah than anyone realizes.
Taking the “Make out already, you two!” line a step too literally aside, I’m afraid this may be Homer Simpson accurately predicting the pollution in Springfield’s atmosphere would break down Bart’s killer comet to the size of a Chihuahua’s head all over again…
Gotta give Joyce credit for finally redeeming herself and sticking by good principles.

Were these people more likable when they were in the Walky! comic? Willis has mentioned not using Malaya in Dumbing because he’s still finding his footing with her and making the parallel universe version of her at this point would throw him off, but hell, half the female cast of Dumbing are already bitter and hostile to everything for no apparent reason, what the hell do we need Malaya for?
Of the major characters I can think of?
Raidah, to the best of my knowledge, is new or was a very minor character in the Walkyverse. Dana was a background one as well.
Billie was ill-adjusted from the start, but I’m pretty sure she only really became a major character after Ruth died. She was a heavy drinker before, though.
Ruth was always messed up, but I think she was more bitter and depressed, as opposed to here where she’s kind of evil.
Joyce had issues, but was WAY better with people from It’s Walky! on. Before, though? CRAZY STALKER. Near-yandere levels. This is actually BETTER than she was in Roomies, because she doesn’t cling onto the first one she meets and never let go.
Sarah? To the best of our knowledge, she was pretty much always a business-first lawyer type, but without the backstory.
Sal is less angsty and more “does not like people” here than in Walky.
I don’t subscribe to J&W, so I can’t say much about Dorothy, especially since it’s unfinished.
Amazi-Girl is always fabulous.
Dina… may have been slightly better-socialized in Walky, but was also REALLY bad with relationships. She was the one who dated Mike by keeping him continually drunk, if you read back to the start of the dating story.
Robin’s probably been one of the biggest changes, since she’s now actually kind of serious and uptight.
Roz seems a bit less obnoxious here, probably because we haven’t heard her opinions on sex addiction’s existence.

Joyce is quickly becoming the most interesting character in this comic. In some ways she’s even more sheltered than the original Joyce, but in other ways she seems a lot less naive.
First- I am surprised a sheltered girl like Joyce understands the concept of “bone city”, especially under such minimal context.
Second- she was appalled by the idea of premarital relations in her women’s studies course- so why is she suggesting it as an alternative for her friend now?
Third- THAT FACE. That does not seem like a Joyce face.
This is actually pretty common among home schooled people. The only thing is that they are normally more self-conscious and it takes a long time for them to come out of there shells. However once their comfortable they can throw banter like this back and forth with the best of them, sometimes better.

As noted above, those were the fists of God. And when God punches you, he doesn’t apologize to you; you have to apologize to him.
Billy is very self-aware Jackson. She’s so self aware that she hasn’t time to be aware of much else.
