Comics are currently drawn and uploaded through:
It’s not exactly uncommon. Hayate no Gotoku has been running for eight years and about four months have passed in comic. The Fancy Adventures of Jack Cannon has been going for three years now and it’s been three or four days in comic.
The entire concept of comic book time is that real time isn’t relevant to it. It’s not taking place today. If you read the comics in sequence then I’m sure it’s only half an hour between the passing of days. Just pretend like you’re enjoying a story like any other. 2 hours of The Matrix isn’t literally 2 hours of Neo’s life, nor is the five years between it and the sequel five years of story time. Same in books, television, and comics. Yes, even those of the web variety. Let’s not render the entire concept of comic time meaningless by making it reliant on real time.
If this is anything like my old college, then documenting Ruth’s abuses, gathering evidence, and reporting on them in any way will get Billie reprimanded and/or kicked out for “slandering rightful authority figures.”
Or she might just be forced into counseling with the psych department.
yeah, again, thinking about how my old college worked. Ruth wouldn’t even have to defend herself – pictures or not, evidence or not, it’d just be dealth with.
Your college was insane. If it was even hinted that I (as an RA) STOLE something and defaced it… man I would be out on my ass so fast it wouldn’t even be funny. Especially if I was stupid enough to be involved in a physical altercation with the supposed victim TWICE in public.
Lots of colleges are insane. My friend slipped on an unsalted walkway (at 10 AM) at my old college and broke his leg. He was flat-out told that if he sued, he’d never graduate, and they’d sabotage his attempts to get his transcript transferred.
I think he eventually got around that, but it was crazy even to say that.
Suddenly, your comment reminds me of two separate incidents at my college where both parties were reprimanded for going to the proper authorities for help. Their reasoning, “We can deal with these things ourselves.” Really?
From the look of it, I think the letters are only unstitched : sure the fabric is clearer, but the shadowing is continous. Anyway, Ruth wants to put pressure on Billie, if she can’t retrocede the outfit in wearable shape, why should Billie abide ?
Beside, this can be a new streak of Ruth wickeness, yay !!
2) Billie is vastly overestimating the influence of the IU student paper.
3) It’s probably for the best that we don’t see Walky’s face as his expression morphs from nervous befuddlement to mind-erasing terror when he realizes that the girl he is infatuated with is in his room and he is wearing pajama pants.
I was just rereading Joyce and Walky and I discovered Walky did have a crush on Dorothy in highschool but she shuned him now Im wondering if the one alternate universe where Dorothy and Walky got together might be this one.
In that universe, Dorothy and Walky met in high school. In Dumbing of Age they went to separate high schools and met in college. (Plus Walky and Dorothy and Billie were a year younger than Danny, Joe, and Joyce and so wouldn’t be around yet.)
I seriously want something horrible to happen to Ruth. Nothing but a bully and a bongo. Billie gets enough grief being ostracized by everyone else as it is.
That doesn’t justify jack squat. It’s fine if someone has issues, but if it makes a person in power become a tyrannical force, then the gloves come off.
Ooo, I’m David Willis! I’m gonna make my readers do a google search to figure out what they should already know but don’t because public schools barely got up to world war 2. I’m going to make them learn over the summer to fully enjoy my comic strips.
I expected people to know the difference between facetious and sarcastic. Sarcastic is basically a way of being nasty and mean. Generally a biting comment meant to insult. Whereas Facetious is playful, fun and teasing. 9 times out of 10 when someone says they were being sarcastic they were actually being facetious. Which I was, I think. Facetious that is.
You know how the things that bother you most about other people are, when you think about it, often the things you like least about yourself? I think that’s one reason Billie’s so down on nerds and is clinging hard to her cheerleader / party girl persona. She’s a journalism nerd, and desperately trying to avoid admitting that to herself.
Well, she is a journalist in the main continuity, and people are pretty much the same. She’s a bit of a prom queen cheerleader bongo, but she’s always taken her job seriously.
Wow, hey, a strip named after my last name. Sweet.
Uh-oh. Now Dorothy is involved. Ruth might actually have to contend with an opponent that takes the radical step of reporting abuse to the proper authorities.
I liked this more on the first read (everyone piling into Walky’s room while he is -in his underwear- for debriefing on a quick assault operation) until I realized that Billie was just going to push that stupid “win a Pullitzer by writing about my tyrant RA” idea again.
Then I realized that Dorothy was in Walky’s room now.
Now I like this strip again.

Yesterday and today and probably also tomorrow and the next day in #9ChickweedLane I learned you can fill a whole week of strips with drawing the same two submerged heads kissing
very into these inconvenient, extremely long and pointy shoes that spread across europe in the 14th century and made everyone so horny and effeminate that the church went full on moral panic mode and a bunch of kings made them illegal!!! also everyone got bunions
Sometimes I forget I have an original Sunstreaker! During Shortpacked! times I was gifted a giant pile of G1 from a fan, and this guy has trouble finding purchase in my memory.
The tooling was lost/destroyed decades ago, so he's never been reissued.

Anywayyyyyy, it is actually the last day of pride month and there's 10 days left to back my very gay, very trans medieval fantasy adventure comedy REAL HERO SHIT: HARDER THAN IT LOOKS! Support a queer here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/iro...
since it's the last day of pride month I figured I'd at least make one thing for it...
i now unveil to you my greatest invention:
color bars pride flag
I got permission to share this, and I'm extremely grateful for that.
The Onion got this letter from one of our subscribers in Alaska. She works with dementia patients and decided to leave a copy in the car for each one.
This email made my year. Read it and you'll see what I mean. People are good.
Printed out a lot of Amber's today, trying to get one the proper size and proportions (to Dorothy and Joyce), finally achieving it, but the glasses broke, so
time for attempt 5
Tried printing Amber leaning back, hoping fir a cleaner face, as she's looking down and all the supports wrench up in there. But her soles might not be flat enough to stand this way, so we'll see.
WOOP
Ruth is a total bongo =(
Well, yeah, but we sort of knew that already.
There is a Ruth on the prowl. HIDE!
Hide or she’ll steal your FEMURS!
I love how they’re hiding in Walky’s room. Wonder if he’ll turn this into a happy ending?
No, he’s too busy Gollumfacing.
At least one end of Walky iwill be happy to have Dotty in the room.
Well, one victory at a time.
Hiding… with a ‘happy ending’?
Sounds kinky.
Quick, hide your femurs!
such a beatific look on ruth’s face in panel 2. to bad its hiding her true self
Ruth saves her rage for when people like Billie are around.
Yeah, Ruth only shows her true self around others — the duplicitous bongo.
She is comparing it to WATERGATE?
Oooohhhhhh…Now i get.
Billie has a very high opinion of her personal dramas. And her journalistic chops.
Billie’s ego must only still as big as it is due to the swelling that results from bruises.
That’s a good one.
Danny’s Angels
Walky must be so excited. Dorothy is in his room!
Now he can show off the shrine he made from her discarded chewing gum!
(I’m going to see how long it takes someone to get the reference. Shouldn’t be too long.)
Hey Arnold?
“Arnold, my love…”
Fifteen minutes. In the middle of the night, no less.
Well done, internet.
I was thinking the music video for “Do I Creep You Out” by Weird Al Yanokovic myslef
“Good job internet…..Cave Johnson, we’re done here”
So what letter will Ruth remove next?
I hope it’s the O
Billie in DRAG
My guess? O.
Wait, what happened to the hockey jersey?
Ruth has been removing pieces of it cos she wants Billie to find Sal and sign some document instead of doing her job as RA and finding Sal herself.
She wore that yesterday. In strip time.
Comic book time should not deviate so much from real-time @_@
Are you following “Girl Genius”? They have been in that freaking castle for -years-. In boom time, three days.
Willis said they’d be in college forever. We didn’t realize he meant exactly that.
That’s nothing, Wigu has been going for a whole decade and has only progressed *exactly* 2 weeks!

SWEATER. D<
Oh, right. I like this strip. I read it often. I don't think I've ever commented but I could be wrong.
If this is anything like my old college, then documenting Ruth’s abuses, gathering evidence, and reporting on them in any way will get Billie reprimanded and/or kicked out for “slandering rightful authority figures.”
Or she might just be forced into counseling with the psych department.
She better get her camera out then if that is the case.
yeah, again, thinking about how my old college worked.

Suddenly, your comment reminds me of two separate incidents at my college where both parties were reprimanded for going to the proper authorities for help. Their reasoning, “We can deal with these things ourselves.” Really?
I’m guessing you’re a little bitter about that, huh?
Panel 1, I actually heard the ” [ ! ] ” sound effect.
The one from MGS? Yeah, me too.
And she doesn’t even have a cardboard box handy.
Or a barrel or cardboard tank.
So much for the photoshop theory!
Looks like Ruth carefully unstitched the N from the cheerleader uniform.
Actually, she didn’t, those are two separate holes in the uniform, the first for the N and the second for the S.
From the look of it, I think the letters are only unstitched : sure the fabric is clearer, but the shadowing is continous. Anyway, Ruth wants to put pressure on Billie, if she can’t retrocede the outfit in wearable shape, why should Billie abide ?
Beside, this can be a new streak of Ruth wickeness, yay !!
http://www.dumbingofage.com/2011/comic/book-1/04-the-bechdel-test/supervisor/
You really think Billie can’t tell the difference between a letter being unstitched and being cut out of her property?
1) Walky appears to be wearing pajama pants.
If the PJ pants he is wearing is the type where Mr Winky can flop out, I think I can appreciate his terror.
maybe he will offer her some more paper for a snack
It’s Drago? Aww, and “RAGON” could have been the perfect warning when Billie is pissed off.
If she removed the D and O, then it would be a RAG.
Remove the O and the R (and shuffle the D over a space), an’ you get “DAG” ;).
DAG? You’re an Aussie too?
“RAG ON!”
I was hoping for D AGON, personally.
Am I the only one that’s expecting a “I WILL BREAK YOU” reference?
“IF HE DIES, HE DIES.”
I was just rereading Joyce and Walky and I discovered Walky did have a crush on Dorothy in highschool but she shuned him now Im wondering if the one alternate universe where Dorothy and Walky got together might be this one.
Naw, Dumbing of Age is a completely new continuity.
(Besides, in that universe the Head Alien was not a fictional guy, plus a whole bunch of other stuff that conflicts with this story.)
But wasn’t the head alien universe and time jumping as well which would feasibly meen he could arrive in this universe but never show his face.
In that universe, Dorothy and Walky met in high school. In Dumbing of Age they went to separate high schools and met in college. (Plus Walky and Dorothy and Billie were a year younger than Danny, Joe, and Joyce and so wouldn’t be around yet.)
Ahh I see now.
Sorry for the double post I’m using an iPod touch and the battery’s almost dead.
I seriously want something horrible to happen to Ruth. Nothing but a bully and a bongo. Billie gets enough grief being ostracized by everyone else as it is.
Ruth may be acting this way due to personal problems of her own.
That doesn’t justify jack squat. It’s fine if someone has issues, but if it makes a person in power become a tyrannical force, then the gloves come off.
Billie’s RA is a great big bongo, she’s the biggest bongo in the whole wide world.
Ooo, I’m David Willis! I’m gonna make my readers do a google search to figure out what they should already know but don’t because public schools barely got up to world war 2. I’m going to make them learn over the summer to fully enjoy my comic strips.
Damn you…
I knew about it and I’m not even a Yank.
I was left behind.
Like those rapture books? I thought that wasn’t until Rocktober.
No, in this case it’s a reference to that POS program, “No child left behind”, which was a complete and utter failure.
It was a government-run education initiative supported by a republican, written by a democrat, and funded by neither. What did you expect?
I expected people to know the difference between facetious and sarcastic. Sarcastic is basically a way of being nasty and mean. Generally a biting comment meant to insult. Whereas Facetious is playful, fun and teasing. 9 times out of 10 when someone says they were being sarcastic they were actually being facetious. Which I was, I think. Facetious that is.
I’m not going to ask who’s Deepthroat in this scandal.
Aw hell by saying that I AM asking.
Roz, of course, but in the OTHER current scandal.
I’m impressed Billie knows who that is.
I originally wanted to write “Woodward and Bearenstein,” as in the “Bearenstein Bears,” but infuriatingly, those guys are spelled “Berenstein.” Rats.
Nice to know that Billie isn’t just a stereotypical valley girl.
Deepthoat, that would have to be Roz
I’ll apologize now for my crassness…. sorry
Allright threesome!
Someone explain to me why Amazi-Girl just hasn’t gone Batman on Ruth yet, with the colorful “Ka-Pow!” or “Bam!” effects yet.
Because Ruth still works on the side of justice. Granted, Ruth’s justice is more harsh, but hey, Batman puts up with Huntress in his city.
No. No, she doesn’t. She’s made it personal. That is no longer justice, that is bullying.
If we are good little boys and girls, maybe Willis will reward use with an Amazi-Girl vs Ruth battle… with lots of Clothing Damage!
Well that should quiet all of those “SHE WAS OBVIOUSLY USING A FAKE TO ANGER BILLIE” commenters =D
No, Sal finally turned in her paperwork on her own, so Ruth is taking the fake to the trash chute.
NOTHING WILL QUIET US!!
Right Ruth has so much time she can go buy a fake dragons cheer leading uniform and cut out the letters from it XD
Time? She’s ruthless. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had prepared a blackmail plan over the summer for every student on her floor.
Can Ruth be ruthless? Isn’t that a zero sum equation?
Wait, Woodward and who now?
Here, let me google that for you…
Wow, that seems more harsh than I intended with the angry Galasso avatar. :-\
Wow, hey, a strip named after my last name. Sweet.
Uh-oh. Now Dorothy is involved. Ruth might actually have to contend with an opponent that takes the radical step of reporting abuse to the proper authorities.
Where was the S, on that sweater? The back?
Removed long before Ruth got her hands on it, I guess.
We have a hostage situation!
(“complaining reader” mode on)
I liked this more on the first read (everyone piling into Walky’s room while he is -in his underwear- for debriefing on a quick assault operation) until I realized that Billie was just going to push that stupid “win a Pullitzer by writing about my tyrant RA” idea again.
Then I realized that Dorothy was in Walky’s room now.
Now I like this strip again.
We can only hope that there will be a debriefing of a different kind very soon.
ba dum pish!
Wait, are we talking about Walky and Dorothy or Ruth and Billie?
Ruth and Billie, in an epic cat fight that will lead to clothing damage and lesbianism.
Wait… that faded shadow looks like it would fit an N only, not an N and an S. Ruth is being veeeeeeery elaborate in her prank on Billie.
WOW! I missed this the first go-around, methinks. Billie actually knows her shit, journalism-wise. At least a little.
DRAGO!!!!!!
DRAGO!!!!!!
DRAGO!!!!!!
Why is there no space for the ‘s’?
