Let’s see… Given the current pattern, who will some wacky misunderstanding lead the group to erroneously believe Billie is in love with?
I’m gonna go with Daisy. I miss Daisy.
Joyce knows so much, for someone who knows nothing at all. Subconscious or not, it is SO very annoying, coming from a character that never even saw her brother’s dong by accident as a kid.
Willis, I don’t care how it happens, but I want a second panel billie. Like literally want a plushie or something because that is just to frickin cute.
Panel 2 is Billie trying to force her usual “Everyone is dumb except me” cynical bongo face on over this goofy smile that seems to have taken up residence on her face. Why… won’t… it… fit…. dammit…
And stop giggling! Do you know how hard it is to scoff at someone when you’re giggling??
Well, Billie finally had people clued in that she was in desperate need of love, support and help, and now that’s all gone and she’ll be depending on the suicidal, self-destructing alcoholic Ruth for support. This is kinda terrible wrapped up in shiny foil packaging.
That face? That is the sign that Jocye is gonna break inta Billie’s room super stealthy Ninja/Batman style to try ta figure out who Billie’s crushin’ on.
Grab paint.net (it’s free) in the mean time. I believe you can get it at getpaint.net, but I’d check google first. It’ll probably take longer than you’re used to, but it’ll do the job.
The only anti-virus software I have for now is Malwarebytes and the trial run of Norton, when my next pay comes in, I will buy some full computer protection.
I’m wondering how dressed Sal is. Like she had a shirt on, but I’m sure that was opening the door precedure. We all know she likes to sleep in the buff.
As smart as she is, Dorothy is still an 18 year old fresh out of high school. She doesn’t know everything. But yeah, you’re right, Billie is still depressed and messed up.
But also, everyone has seemingly accepted that Billie’s behaviour is just the result of being lovesick and that nothing is actually wrong. Probably not a good thing.
I’m pretty sure she is still depressed, lovesick or not. The whole comment about never leacing Ruth’s room and to not care anymore about anything else doesn’t sound too good to me. And I think Ruth noticed that as well. I have the feeling that she will be the one that gets them both into therapy and Billie will then feel betrayed by her love.
OrI’m wrong and they get to be ok and everything is fine.
Y’know what? I know that the drama tag got pulled at least as early as day 1 in this comic, so this lovey-dovey stuff is going to turn into tears eventually, but I ain’t even care. It’s sweet right now.
Oh my gosh, Billie is so adorable the inevitable pain will hurt even more. Also, 2nd time I’ve noticed a Peanuts visual reference in this strip (panel 2).
Poor Walky. I really hope he gets confirmation that he was correct to worry, as that’s really been the first time he’s been so concerned about someone on screen (and implied offscreen as well). He needs to know that his instincts were correct.
On one hand, they are wrong to dismiss Billie’s problems as just lovesickness. On the other hand, she here clearly sees that she has friends that look out for her, which I imagine might be a HUGE part of the problem.
Hey Willis I doubt you will even see this, but I just wanna say you are one of my favorite comic writers of all time, and my favorite web comic writer. Been reading your stuff for somewhere between six and eight years now. Just wanted to say I will certainly be a lifelong fan.
You know, one reason for Joyce being so happy – except for her being an absolutely adorable romantic and happy to see that her friend is OK, that is – is that finally, FINALLY something happens that fit her frame of reference.
Billie is moody – she is lovesick. Solution: Make sure she ends up with her lover and have a romance montage.
Joyce understands the problem, she understands the solution. She is not the odd one out who has to be ignorant and wonder if she is offending someone or make an effort not to be offended herself. For once, things are SIMPLE. (Well, until she learns a few things more about Billie’s situation, but right now)
Even if Ruth and Billie’s relationship is more than a little worrying in its dynamics, it’s nice to finally see Billie genuinely happy. College life has pretty much otherwise been shitting on her for most of the comic, even if a fair amount of that was at least partially self-inflicted. It’s a nice change.

i thought we covered this last comic
Same here.
Let’s see… Given the current pattern, who will some wacky misunderstanding lead the group to erroneously believe Billie is in love with?
I’m gonna go with Daisy. I miss Daisy.
Dangit, wrong thread. What I meant to say is:

DOUBLE DANGIT
SHAAADE
Seems I got you by about a minute too, close one.
Idk, the fact that the chapter title has “loved” past tense makes it sound like a lot worse than that… dun dun dunnnnnn
Sorry but My mind went straight to “madness- it must be love”
**slow clap**
You all got them wrong feels. It’s THIS one!

If you’re gonna post a song, go with the original classic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_cVCtw7iLA
The Genitorturers’ version of this song is actually pretty good, if you’re into a harsher, more industrial sound.

Heartstrings sing. . .
Just gimme some kind of sign girl. To show me that you’re mine girl.
Joyce knows so much, for someone who knows nothing at all. Subconscious or not, it is SO very annoying, coming from a character that never even saw her brother’s dong by accident as a kid.
Too many cute expressions in this one.
So cute… so… so very cute….
Joyce: Billie and Ruthless,
Sittin’ in a tree,
K-I-S-S-I-N-G…
Billie: Stoppit! *giggleblushes*
Okay now this is adorable.
Seconded. I actually went “aww..”
Let’s see how this all crashes and burns.
I’ve got the slide whistle at the ready for when it starts to drop.
Trombone at the ready for “Wah, Wah, Wahhhhh”.
Cymbals standing by.
Cowbell reporting in.
The Price is Right Failed soundboard here!
Various Game Over screens on standby
Gotcher fresh hot “Game over, man! Game over!” at the ready.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdbYsoEasio sounds about right
Mortal Kombat’s fatality announcer signing in
Duck hunt dog reporting for duty
Willis, I don’t care how it happens, but I want a second panel billie. Like literally want a plushie or something because that is just to frickin cute.
Life sized and anatomically correct I assume.
No, for that we’d want a Sal. Billie should be a plushie, or a hugpillow.
eh why not both? have a whole line of anatomically correct life sized plushies based on DoA characters?
Panel 2 is Billie trying to force her usual “Everyone is dumb except me” cynical bongo face on over this goofy smile that seems to have taken up residence on her face. Why… won’t… it… fit…. dammit…
And stop giggling! Do you know how hard it is to scoff at someone when you’re giggling??
I am an awful person for not doubting a single bit that this is gonna go straight to Hell in like, a month, tops.
You’re not, you’re just observant.
Well, Billie finally had people clued in that she was in desperate need of love, support and help, and now that’s all gone and she’ll be depending on the suicidal, self-destructing alcoholic Ruth for support. This is kinda terrible wrapped up in shiny foil packaging.
In my experience, whenever you think you’re finally out of that dark tunnel, you learn that there’s an even darker tunnel just around the bend. =P
The expression I’ve heard and read is, “That’s not the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s the train!”
Or Hellfire.
That’s the light at the *start* of the tunnel. You are going the wrong way.
How does being familiar with the comic and its author make one “an awful person”?
Then again, he’s done this to us so many times and we keep coming back for more, so yeah
>>> I am an awful person for not doubting a single bit
No need to be specific. Just stop at ‘person’ !
Billie’s so cute here.
3rd panel has the cool Joyce
That face? That is the sign that Jocye is gonna break inta Billie’s room super stealthy Ninja/Batman style to try ta figure out who Billie’s crushin’ on.
Billie is in more than one love, her being in loves is total, and the loves are super-duper! Joyce knows how these things work.
This is gonna end sooo badly.
Walky’s pretty good at reading Billie. She’s just not depressed anymore.
It was a really quick turnaround. Drunken sexy suicide pacts will do that.
Sober Sexy Suicide pacts however,…much less of a noticable turnaround.
ahem, it was a sexy LESBIAN suicide pact. GAWD, get ur facts straight.
Drunken lesbians!
That’s got to be in the top 5 kinds.
Straight? But you said they were lesbians!
“Gayly forth,” then, as a gay friend would say every time I asked if I was supposed to turn at the lights or go straight.
“We don’t go straight! We’re on Davie Street. We go gayly forth!“
I mean, technically they’re bisexuals
Isn’t “biii” the correct plural?
Why whould a Greek prefix have a Latin plural?
Mmm… leek gratin. *slobber*
Hrm. On the one hand, happy Billie is totes adorbz. On the other hand, this relationship is extremely unhealthy.
Dammit, for some reason my mind/fingers forgot to add “so I feel happy for Billie but I feel guilty for feeling happy” between “unhealthy” and “.”
I wonder who will make a grav out of panel two Billie?
I was wondering the same thing. Also, Joyce of panel three.
kerry will!
Good on ya! ^_^
D’aww.
I thought that was your forte, plas.
Normally yeah but until I get a new picture editor for this new computer I got today, I won’t be able to do anything like that.
I prefer Susan. But maybe.
New computer? Nice!
Thanks, hopefully this computer with Windows 8.1 isn’t as prone to BSOD like my last computer was.
Famous last words…
Don’t jinx me!
First order of business: install IrfanView
I’ve been thoroughly entertained by your use of EGS sketchbook entries lately, for what it’s worth.
Grats on the new box, use it well.
I hope so too.
Billie. You’re being adorable again.
Continue
Billie is the cutest.
I’m wondering how dressed Sal is. Like she had a shirt on, but I’m sure that was opening the door precedure. We all know she likes to sleep in the buff.
Underwear + gloves != “buff”. Topless, yes, though…
Lovesick and depressed are mutually exclusive? I’m surprised, usually Dorothy is more savvy than that.
That smile tho, Billie. So cute!
Yeah. Walky was worried, and for good reason. And now because of this he’s going to be convinced that he just read the situation all wrong.
As smart as she is, Dorothy is still an 18 year old fresh out of high school. She doesn’t know everything. But yeah, you’re right, Billie is still depressed and messed up.
Occam’s razor. One reason is simpler explanation than two reasons.
Gaaaaaaah, Billie, you are not allowed to be this cute!
Enjoy your paradise while it last, there’s a storm coming.
Hurricane Mary?
It is the 27th panel of summer…But a storm is brewing. Winter is coming.
Of all the Charlie Brown smiles in the world, that one is the Charlie Browniest.
I think Charlie Brown smiles more like Charlie Brown.
Panel 2 is totally a Charlie Brown smile
see?
I know. I was jokin’
Well, she is seeing a (not so) little red-haired girl…
Billie is feeling happiness. Thus, Willis will crush it.
Billie is yup…adorable here.
Hope the Hell it lasts…but know better.
Throw a net on Joyce before she screws it up.
oh gods, please let mary get hit by a truck!
Yes, it will restore balance to the Willis Multiverse, and yet allow Ruth to live! I like this plan!
“Just this once, Ruth! Everybody loves!”
Excellent Doctor Who reference!
Seconded.
It’s so cuuuuuuuute!
That is adorable!
That alt text is going to make zero sense once that banner is gone.
Well, Sal is still in the room after all, up in her bed.
Or Sal and Billie are roomies, and Sal *was* sleeping in her top-bunk.
Sal: Turns out she’s still Billie’s roommate. And still in the room. Sleeping. Like she was back in this strip.
“I’m not in love,
and don’t forget it,
it’s just a silly phase
I’m going through …”
I feel sorry for Walky here.
My god, Billy is so fucking adorable. Love the idea that Schooly McCool can tell too.
Billie smiling for more than one panel at a time? That’s dangerous.
I like this lovesick Billie <3
Someone is GOING TO DIE! That or the drama tag somehow got fixed.
Holy shit, Joyce has like the most punchable expression in panel three.
It’ll be fun when the revelation as to just who it is Billy is crushing on sinks in.
D’awww.
But also, everyone has seemingly accepted that Billie’s behaviour is just the result of being lovesick and that nothing is actually wrong. Probably not a good thing.
Come what may, Billie… Happiness doesn’t actually last, but it’s good to have known it.
And then comes a car crash… For no reason at all.
Curse you, Willis! This is gonna make it so much harder when it all comes down in flames. Curse you with the force of a thousand black holes!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxKtN7m60SA
If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.
Let us have our Moment.
“It’s not true, it’s bullshit, I did not bang her, I did naaaht! Oh hi Sal.”
fshaaaaaah cute
Stop building things up just to crush our souls, Willis!
“When Somebody Loved Me”.
Someone needs to remind the Happy Shippers.
Oh, don’t worry. We’re being very generically non-religious right now — practicing non-attachment, living in the moment, letting go, and letting God.
Willis will pull a Double Shyamalan and IT WILL ALL BE HAPPY
(until the next chapter)
Y’know what? I know that the drama tag got pulled at least as early as day 1 in this comic, so this lovey-dovey stuff is going to turn into tears eventually, but I ain’t even care. It’s sweet right now.
There was no drama tag to begin with.
Wait until Joyce learns who Billie is in love with.
“Is everyone in this college gay!?”
some are bi, tho
There’s always Joe. He’s about as straight as they come.

College life has pretty much otherwise been shitting on her for most of the comic, even if a fair amount of that was at least partially self-inflicted. It’s a nice change.
Everything I’d hoped the relationship would be and more!
I wonder how Joyce will react if and when she ever finds out the nature of Jennifer’s love.
HMMMMM…..
