yeah i didn’t mean to be away for so long, i had a minor freakout that other time and felt silly and confused about it, whatever i’m over it, and i also got distracted because i had some intense procrastinating to do before i leave to work at a festival in italy the day after tomorrow, i have loads of shit to get done before leaving and i have done basically nothing (which is my customary MO). i was extremely creative as a result haha. nothing like procrastination to get in that flow zone. and the reason that has anything to do with anything is because i refuse to acknowledge that playing music might count as wasting time. it’s axiomatic. but hanging here does (and i do spend A LOT of time here some days)

You will find ‘(minutes) and “(seconds) used here, but it’s less common to the general public and is more commonly associated with polar coordinates, (ergo my inclusion of degrees ° above) either in nautical/aeronautical navigation, or astronomy. But it’s is definitely not as familiar to the general public (speaking anecdotally)

Because it’s Walky doing the confrontation here, and having a sibling confronting you with your behaviour is often… less than ideal. Especially when, despite one’s best efforts, one cannot help but get some sibling ribbing in. Double especially when said sibling just ribbed one first, just minutes ago. Better persons than Walky have tried and failed that.
There are a few theories though. From the possibility she’s just choosing not to ride in snow (which I doubt since she misses it so much) to the far more likely theory she either sold it or got in legal trouble for violating traffic laws in multiple high speed chases.

Honestly as someone who lived in a single at the end of the hall my last semester, it’s pretty straightforward to me. It is REALLY EASY to isolate yourself in the dorms when you’ve got a single that’s out of the way like that. You might see people in the halls or the bathroom, but you don’t have a roommate to share the space with who might, therefore, want that space to themselves (under circumstances that are hopefully equitably negotiated.) That means you’ve really got no reason to hang out in the common areas. Add exaggeration for joke, and voila, you have Joyce and Walky reacting to the end of the hall like it’s incredibly haunted, because they never really encounter these people.
I had a single in the middle of the hall, but before that, I shared with someone on the end unit. It sucked bc we were DIRECTLY above a loose pipe that intermittently banged VERY LOUDLY against the wall until I discovered this and filled in the gaps with insulating foam

I prefer to simply believe that Sal’s smart enough not to ride her (extremely fast) motorcycle when the weather is below freezing. It’s all fun and games until you find the puddle that froze and have to replace your pants due to street burn, or worse. I have and ride a small Harley to commute to/from work, and those are the rules I live by.
Living in Northern Virginia, I get more ride time than further North and West, but still, temps hovering about 32 degrees F and I drive. Even going slow, having the bike slide out from under you is not fun, and picking it back up solo in the slippery is worse.
Although, this is Fuck You Willis and all of that ^ is real life and not very popcorn-ish enough….
It’s the part where Sal doesn’t want to talk about it and is noticeably sad about it that makes a lot of us think it isn’t the practical, non-permanent reason. That implies a lot more drama than even ‘I learned the hard way you don’t do this in the winter.’

Walky is actually half-right. I don’t think that Sal is still crushing on Asher. Instead, she’s hoping to ‘accidentally’ run into him so she can have an argument with his without looking as if she’s crushing him and this is just an excuse.
The fact is that Sal doesn’t trust Asher, thinks that he’ll hurt Jennifer and is calmly ignoring her surrogate sister’s agency because she’s the sort of personality who thinks she has to protect everyone else from this big bad world of ours. Whether or not they want or need her protection.
Yeah, this is why my own usual strategy is to watch the people I care about make horrible decisions because it’s not my place to interfere, and then feel guilty about it basically forever.

Yeah, using those symbols for minutes and seconds is something done most often internationally, especially in the European Union.

Walky is actually half-right. I don’t think that Sal is still crushing on Asher. Instead, she’s hoping to ‘accidentally’ run into him so she can have an argument with his without looking as if she’s crushing him and this is just an excuse.
The fact is that Sal doesn’t trust Asher, thinks that he’ll hurt Jennifer and is calmly ignoring her surrogate sister’s agency because she’s the sort of personality who thinks she has to protect everyone else from this big bad world of ours. Whether or not they want or need her protection.
Yeah, this is why my own usual strategy is to watch the people I care about make horrible decisions because it’s not my place to interfere, and then feel guilty about it basically forever.
A friend was getting in with the wrong people so I put it like this, “your health and well-being are more important to me than our friendship, which is why I must say…” then after saying my bit as concisely as possible, “regardless of what you chose to do, know that I love you, you are worthy of love and deserve to feel loved. If things go wrong, I’ll be there and you will never hear me say I told you so.”
While the convention is to not interfere in peoples relationships, I went through some wrecks and had enough self doubt that I was looking to those around me to say something reassuring but everyone was so hung up on not saying something that I stayed for /way/ too long. While I never blamed my friends and family for not speaking up, I promised myself that I wouldn’t make the same choice.

Walky, maybe Sal wants to ride a bicycle. And, what’s more, wants to ride it where she likes?
I wonder how big the entire campus is and how long it took Sal to bike around it.
Big Ten campus? It would be huge. Riding around the snow pile? Not too bad. A loop next to the snow pile that goes past a dorm? More likely.
According to Google Maps, there are a couple big empty fields across the street from McNutt. Sal’s loop is probably only a couple miles around the block.
