Please. The last several strips were bi adjacent at best. The bi in question was pretty miserable too. Also that was a purely hetero polycule with the intention of one straight relationship being supplanted by another. If Joyce had any imagination she would’ve suggested Sarah and Lucy settle their differences and ditch Jacob.
This is getting really tiresome. We’ve had plenty of queer rep, including canonically bi characters who happen to be single or in opposite-gender relationships right now. Bi people don’t get downgraded to “bi-adjacent” for being with people of different genders unless you’re an asshole.
I think the point is that Jennifer (the bi in question) was just… there. She didn’t really participate in the story, she was adjacent to it. She’s not even dating Asher anymore so I don’t think that’s what Sirk meant.
I know this comic has plenty of queer rep. My “bi-adjacent” was a callback to a clever response from previous comment I made many strips ago in reference to Jennifer being bi and next to people and thus they were adjacent to a bisexual. (Bi-adjacent) Not because she was specifically dating someone of the opposite gender and thus didn’t count as bisexual or only slightly bi or whatever erasure subtext you may have read.
I get that maybe it’s easy to read comments in bad faith but I genuinely just try to have fun most times. I thought most would get the humor of complaining about queer rep in a comic that is supremely gay.
As I’ve often said in the past and is likely becoming a personal meme for me. I will endeavor to try harder to make these jokes land without upsetting someone. Apologies.
I’m coming in at the end of this, and appreciate your articulation and non reactivity here. I will say that I also didn’t get your initial comment was a joke, and was kinda put off by it (as a bi person, or just a person, who enjoys a variety of orientation reps in fiction).
But knowing it was a joke I’m a amused :). I think. “/s” or “jk” goes a long way to making sure text is ready properly.
Also the bi-adjacent thing is quite clever and I didn’t read your comment as bi-erasure at all.

Put me down as someone else who did not get it/read that as anything but sincere.
One day I’ll remember to use “/s” I forget to mid typing a comment and just assume something ridiculous or hyperbolic wouldn’t be read straight.

Sometimes when you are spending time in bed(or behind a dinosaur) with your partner things may not be perfectly comfortable, but neither of you want to stop laying together.
I used to share a twin sized bed with a girl whenever we spent time together. Was it always comfortable? Not at all. Was it worth it to spend extra cuddling time with her? Always.
I got so uncomfortable in a girl’s double, seemingly concrete, bed, and left to go home at 4:00 am. I walked to the Columbus Circle subway station and got mugged before I got down the steps. Stabbed 8 times. Nearly died. Should’ve died. Sometimes a little discomfort is the better option.

Imagine if they had to deal with a hangover plus chronic back problems from sleeping on that dinosaur which I think is a giant beanbag. They are young so only the former is likely the only problem but the latter could be too.

As someone who has to be To work by 10 tomorrow, I’d like to just say, “UGH”
This is a major reason for me exploring careers outside of K-12 schools. Had to be at work by 7:30am the past two years, and at some points it’s been earlier.
I was approached by an employer who hired me and told me to show up at 5:00 am. I asked when the shift started. They said 7:30 am. I said, “See you at 7:20!”
So, what are the odds they had some Ninja Nookie last night that everyone else missed because Dina is just that stealthy?
