I maintain that there is no better feeling in the world than waking up thinking you have work or school, then realizing it’s a weekend/holiday and you can just roll over and go back to sleep.
Pure bliss.
Especially when you’ve had the “Late for school/work nightmare” before waking up
Nothing more relaxing than waking up to remember that you actually quit that job twenty years ago.
nope. noooooope. everytime when i have those, my heart rate skyrocks when i wake up, and when i realize i dont have to go ,i am way to shaken to get to sleep again. do not like that at all.
…except on those occasions when half an hour later you suddenly think “Nope, right the first time!”

When we were young, my sister used to specifically request that she be woken up “on time” if there was a school delay or closure. She wanted to be able to think, “Ah, yes, I get to go back to sleep” and curl back under the blankets.

She’s not sleeping in really. She’s just finally… FINALLY! getting to relax and feel good and loved.

Maybe its when you get older it feels bad, my weekend off work just ended & I spent one of the days doing nothing but SLEEP & I just felt horrible afterwards.
The trick is to sleep until you wake up naturally and well rested.
I appreciate this nice, slow start to everyone’s day. No drama, no waking up and immediately worrying about some new nonsense, just characters waking up and getting ready for their day.

I can confirm that if you’re sleep deprived, sleeping in feels like heaven.
It feels fucking fantastic, which is why sometimes when I’m depressed I sleep in all day because then I don’t have to deal with the world or even get out of bed
Yeah, depressed people do it because it’s fantastic, at least for a couple days. Starts to feel awful after too many though.
this is the thing with a lot of “depressed person things” and people mistake going easy on yourself for a bit for a particular symptom
it’s not like taking a day off work means you have the flu but you’re probably gonna do that if you have the flu

I don’t know why, when adult, I used to sleep with some pillows, specially between legs.

This closely resembles my recent covid experience. I was sleeping in all day because I was too fatigued from being sick to do much else but it was ducking dantastic
I wouldn’t mind sleeping all day if I didn’t have anything else to do that day. But most days I have stuff to do.

I think it’s more when you’re a kid you can pull an all nighter and be just fine the next day. That goes away so so fast
Again, not by 20 surely? I have lifelong devastating insomnia, so I’ll admit I don’t know for sure what average people’s sleep is like in their 20s, but I feel like that kind of struggle happens a long while after 20.
Sarah’s a spry and spregged young woman of but twenty summers. She can sleep a couple of extra hours without crumbling to dust from age.
I’m 32 and it hasn’t happened yet. Some people are weak and will not survive the winter.

I sleep on my side, but if I’m halfway awake, and I can’t get back to sleep then I’ll rest on my front while I finish waking up.
I have to keep moving all night or my body starts yelling at me and I get really warm and then everything aches all tbe next day
This is me, I have to keep switching until I enter a sleepier mode

Horribly offended here that Sarah gets to sleep in. I didn’t get to sleep in, neither should she. Plus, DoA’s timescale means that she’ll be sleeping in for at least the first week or two of May, which is totally unfair.

slept on my stomach primarily till regularily sharing a bed with my wife. shifted to side sleeping on my left to take less space up (the wife barrel rolls in her sleep tking up less space meant less likely to be woken up by being rolled onto lol) a discovery of a 27degree curve to the left in my spine at 40 has meant learning to sleep on my right side or face the possibility of pain that requires iv morphine to handle (the paramedic shot me up with 2 doses of fentanyl and it did NOTHING) has been fun
Personally I get sick of it at about 10 AM no matter how little sleep I got the night before.
I believe people who aren’t depressed tend to get enough sleep on a regular basis, which makes them unable to sleep more even if they have an opportunity to do so.
I have 3 kids… I don’t know how long it will take to catch up on my sleep deficits but given I still average fewer than 6 hours’ sleep a night it isn’t happening yet…
Amateurs. The pro move is to simply go back to bed after you wake up the first time.

I have the kind of depression where you almost never sleep more than a few hours at a time. I’d kill for eight hours of uninterrupted sleep that didn’t involve major pharmaceuticals.
