I am so sorry. Did the antibiotics they gave you not work? I hope I am not being rude by asking if you updated us on that earlier, I’ve been away from the comment boards for a while.
i took actually took my last antibiotic yesterday (making for two weeks of Keflex now), and thankfully they’ve been helping reduce the redness and swelling without any lethal side effects
of course i also gotta rebuild my gut microbiome as well as iron levels on account of being anemic, and im also underweight now having lost a few pounds, but at least cannabis and ice packs still work to mitigate the worst of the pain
Take it from our drummer, “Puff”
Being good it gets you stuff
such effective stuff, one of the only real treatments for lower back pain that doesn’t have possibly lethal side effects. said as a sufferer from a 27deg curve in his spine that want diagnosed till he was 39
i find it “interesting” that 2 months after a study comes out showing THC medical effectiveness in treating lower back pain, Drumpf signs an order to reclassify it as less dangerous.
i bet hes using it for his back
Dina has been taking care of Amber already. She’s not obligated to do so, but speaking from experience she might be doing this to not think about Becky right now.
…. I think that may be a wee bit too snooping for Dina to have figured that sort of thing out, who in the building gets pain meds and doesn’t actively require them to function on a daily basis… or at least also doesn’t hate the gays and or does stuff Dina totally judges them as a bad person for.
Because the other sort of source for that kind of thing would be uh, the illegal trade, and right now the illegal pain med trade is, I’m pretty sure, verrrrrrrrrry dangerous especially for those with day zero chemical tolerances, due to the absolute proliferation of cheap as cheapo Fent in their production.
I don’t know about pain med knockoff pills specifically but I have seen recent documentaries of how it’s creeping into ecstacy supply from Amsterdam, and acid supply from similar places.
I mean, she is. That’s why she’s merely in a lot of pain and not screaming in agony, tbf. I don’t think you want to double up on pain meds when you already took one.
Yeah its a fun outfit. Which makes we wonder why she took her pants off. Seems an odd thing to do, especially in another persons room while dealing with a would that is not conductive to bending over to pull pants back on.
I feel like this is a reference to something (other than Mario).
I want to say Wolverine has said something like this before, but it definitely feels like a reference I should recognize.
I have a friend that is allergic to many pain meds (from anesthesia to ibuprofen as far as I know of). The pain that she can withstand always amazes me.
You may amaze yourself someday, though getting there is no fun. After some painful injuries, numerous kidney stones, and a catastrophic internal surgery followed by peritonitis, my pain threshold is stretched much farther than it was when I was young.
Srsly. It’s gotta suck to wake up in a body that has been sliced and glued and is now wanted for assaulting the cops.
Do we know how Amber currently experiences AG-time? Is she asleep, and gets filled in later? is she kinda watching from the back seat, able/unable to comment?
Because, Amber might strongly prefer that AG did not get her into this much pain and difficulty today.
The pain meds have worn off, she climbed through a window, and climbed up to Walky’s bed. Amber is one tough cookie, but eventually that stuff catches up with you.
Now would be a good time to call Dina, and get Amber some more pain relievers. The questions are: Does Walky know Dina’s number? And has Amber made things worse by climbing around?
Of course, the way these cops have been going, if they’d caught her still in her own bed, she probably could have just told them she had the flu and they’d have left her alone to rest.
I will admit that I have not been completely in love with the Keystone Cops routine. But as a mechanism to put these two in a room together (and to give Jennifer some well earned flowers), I like it.
I mean, if we want to go old school and have her frustration keeping her awake, she could always play some NES TMNT; just replay the underwater bombs stage over and over.
Get well soon, Amber.
Backtracking through the comments, the cops storming into the girls’ dorm and searching through closets without a search warrent (assuming they don’t have one)? Isn’t that grounds for a lawsuit?
judging by their behaviors they seem to have a warrant for the girls dorms at least since they entered the women’s dorms for searching but they have not been seen entering the men’s dorm rooms. The only evidence of no warrant at the moment is that they didn’t show it to Ruth but since she’s just a TA and not the person in charge of said dorm they don’t really have to show it to her if they already have permission from the school owners since she doesn’t really have much power in the dorm beyond minor conflict resolution and reporting any worse issues up to the higher ups.
I feel like there are too many individuals’ privacies for a single warrant to cover all of them.
Their probable cause to violate everyone’s privacy – because that’s essentially what a warrant is, a state sanctioned right to violate personal privacy – is, at best, AG has been seen going in and out of Read Hall on several occasions months ago (she stopped being a vigilante sometime during the time skip) and possibly a couple times recently.
They don’t even know who lives in the rooms, what they look like, or really what AG looks like (despite the fact that only a handful of characters that have appeared in the comic even approximate her appearance).
And the privacies they’re violating include (potentially) a daughter of tech billionaires, a sister of a former US congresswoman, a Canadian foreign national, the stepdaughter of a doctor, and the daughter of a Karen who used to be married to a dean of the university, among who knows how many other prominent families.
If they actually have a warrant that could save them from being sued, I’ll be surprised.
depends on the scope of the warrant. The probable cause in this case would be “A woman in a superhero outfit assaulted several police officers and was seen by witnesses going to Read Hall” and the search warrant would allow them to search that specific building for proof tying one student to Amazi-girl. Which would be her costume. That would be the scope of the warrant and schools usually have privacy things that allow them to search dorm rooms for rule violations. So the school could give permission to search but only for that costume.
It’s a legal question we’ve seen various takes on since this started, but you’re mixing up two separate things here. If the law treats the dorms as school property and allows the school to access or grant access, then the cops don’t need a warrant, they just need the school’s permission. Just like if you let the cops search without a warrant, they don’t need one.
If the school doesn’t have that right, then they’d legally need a warrant and getting one to search what’s essentially an entire apartment complex based on someone saw an alleged criminal going into a building is a bit of a stretch.
Narratively speaking though, it seems like the purpose of having Ruth bring up the warrant and be ignored was to establish that they didn’t have one. Yes, theoretically maybe they didn’t have to show it to her, but that would have been the place to establish it was legal.
And just practically speaking, in a scenario like this, there’s got to be some requirement to make it clear you’ve got a warrant and what it allows. Whether that’s show it to people on the scene or have someone from the school with authority who’s seen the warrant come with them.
When the cop’s trying to get into my room, how do I know whether they’ve got the legal right to do so or not? If I let them in, that’s giving them permission, even if they don’t have a warrant.
i wonder how booster would’ve handled the situation, i don’t think we’ve seen them interact with adults but i can imagine they’d easily get a cop to be annoyed away too
Booster would probably just have said that Amber was a friend, and probably imply that there is something going on between her and their roomate, and then probably start cold reading the cop.
OTOH, they might have a different sort of response for cops, IDK.
Booster could literally just be honest that they find her hot, but she’s pretty clearly angling for their roommate, but they’re here for the drama in the meantime. It’s absolutely true, it’s a reasonably innocuous explanation, and it hints at greater depths of Teenage Drama(tm) that tht cop doesn’t care to hear about.
Is it that one of them could help her deal with the situation, or is it that she was worried that if one of them (expecially Booster, but maybe Walky too) walked in on her lying passed out in their room with no context they could have called 911?
Honestly, these last few scenes with Walky just made my heart quivery for him. Such a great guy! I can absolutely see how he could be easy to fall for….but maybe a bit challenging yet to stay in a relationship with.
Ooh, smart on Ambers part. I have fibro, and a smooth playing video game you know well ESPECIALLY WITH GOOD MUSIC can be a reaaaaaaaly useful aid for that. And her mentioning booster makes me realize she picked a good room. Both occupants know her, and care about her. They’re both likely to be able to navigate a talk with the cops (as we just saw) without panicking.
On the fibro tangent, Zamperla, you got any other good recs for managing the pain and/or fatigue? I have a magnesium cream that works beautifully on my legs when my skin starts hurting, but that’s about it.
Pretty sure it was a stab wound. We didn’t hear anything about the doctor removing a bullet or there being an exit wound. We definitely know the sniper didn’t fire any shots.
Given saliva drug testing and DNA profiling, it would be good not to let anyone keep your spit after the test. Cos AG has spilled blood in the snow and her DNA is identical to Ambers…
I mean, the cops may not know she is injured, they may not have found a pool of frozen blood, they may not have DNA profiled Amber. I’m just saying, your DNA is unlikely to be your own in this day n age.
Realistically, if they had Amazi-Girl’s DNA, they’d already have a warrant for Amber’s since they presumably have Blaine’s on file. But if implausibly inept forensics allows the comic to keep Amber around and not summarily executed, I’ll take that option.
Does Indiana’s police department even run DNA automatically on a non-capital charge??? I was under the impression that those were expensive and that only a few states did automatic DNA testing.
easy DOA-werse follows realworld chemistry rules, the pigs have a month minimum before they get any dna results. i hope A-girls utility belt has some bleach spray for blood evidence distruction
I was thinking “you know if she was shot or stabbed then she’s probably gotta be using a ton of muscle to climb like that, there’s no way she wouldn’t be about to collapse and-” then I saw the words getting smaller and larger and her expression crumpled and I thought “oh there it is.”
She didn’t spend the money. This is the same Nintendo handheld device that she had the first week of Freshman year. Playing the same game she had then. “Mario Kart.”
Sliding time scale. Every strip is set in present day. This girl did not buy a launch Switch 2, in the same way that she didn’t buy a launch 3DS or a launch Switch. She bought a launch Nintendo.
I think they are but she’s not exactly in peak condition atm. Amazi-girl is probably still very much knocked out otherwise she’d have taken over to do the window climbing stuff.
Yes, definitionally I’d say so. Shielding a target of the police through misdirection and non-violent means would definitely count as passive resistance. Not all of us can knee a cop in the face… but all of us can adopt the “if you see something no you didn’t” attitude
Did anybody really not give Walky credit for realising that Amber in his room and a cop prowling the halls meant something was up, which is why he weirded out the cop to go away? Because honestly, that is a disturbing amount of credit to not give someone.
I like the opossum-trash-creature version of the superhero and goofyguy dynamic, also known as the Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, or if you’re older, the Sailor Moon and HxH mangaka power marriage dynamic. It’s even more fun when she’s also a disaster.
My exposure to Kim Possible has been limited to short sequences that caught my eye as I was clicking through looking for something else, but I would have classified her as a competent self-assured heroine, probably a good role model for young girls. Opossum trash creature is not something I would have assumed. Do I need to go back and give this more attention?
I think Ray is saying Kim and Ron are the “superhero and goofyguy dynamic”, and this the opossum-trash-creature version of that, but yeah, I can see the syntax isn’t clear if you’re not familar enough with the characters to know she definitely isn’t.
I assume the sliding timeline means that when the Switch 2 came out in real like her Switch 1 morphed into a Switch 2, just like her 3ds morphed into a Switch when the Switch 1 came out irl
The DS which Amber played Mario Kart DS on with Danny, which later metamorphosed into the 3DS that Sal played Mario Kart 7 on, which later further evolved into a Switch that Amber and Walky played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on, has now mega-evolved into the Switch 2 that Amber is playing Mario Kart World on in order to keep herself conscious.
OMG im still bedridden with my leg in AGONY
was not expecting today’s strip to be a MOOD

I am so sorry. Did the antibiotics they gave you not work? I hope I am not being rude by asking if you updated us on that earlier, I’ve been away from the comment boards for a while.

Time for Dina to mysteriously appear with a dose of prescription painkillers
That… may not be a great idea right now
yeah Dina already has her pain to deal with rn TT~TT
Dina has been taking care of Amber already. She’s not obligated to do so, but speaking from experience she might be doing this to not think about Becky right now.
Dina likes helping her friends

I mean, she is. That’s why she’s merely in a lot of pain and not screaming in agony, tbf. I don’t think you want to double up on pain meds when you already took one.
Wait, wasn’t she already on painkillers?
She needs a cuddle. A very gentle cuddle. Also, remember she’s strong enough to snap you in half.
A cuddle from a woman strong enough to snap me in half… Dammit, I’m supposed to be sleeping, but that’s the last thing on my mind now. 😳
See, he’s got to be the big spoon this time.
uh, he was a kitchen doctor, don’t make assumptions. That makes an ass out of u and mptions.
I like her shirt.
Yeah its a fun outfit. Which makes we wonder why she took her pants off. Seems an odd thing to do, especially in another persons room while dealing with a would that is not conductive to bending over to pull pants back on.
when you’re dealing with an injury of her caliber, pants are… more of a liability than an asset o3o
Backing up what NGPZ said above, going by what we can see of her wound, such as in this strip ( https://www.dumbingofage.com/2025/comic/book-16/01-not-so-smooth-criminals/civvies/ ) I’d say it definitely is an area that would be touched by the waistband. Although it is sealed with surgical glue, it’s still a very sensitive area.
Probably related to her saying she really, really needed to pee earlier, as a wild guess. Might not have been easy to get them back on.
You all make good points.
To make sexual shenanigans seem more plausible? Clothes on the floor?
Her shirt looks nice but seems ineffective…you shouldn’t be able to feel pain with that on.
That’s the part they don’t tell you about the star: you still feel it. The spikes, the fire, the koopa bites, the hammers… you feel them all.
I feel like this is a reference to something (other than Mario).
I want to say Wolverine has said something like this before, but it definitely feels like a reference I should recognize.
Feel familiar to me, and I’ve seen zero Wolverine movies (and just maybe one old X-men movie).
Amber here displaying more resilience to pain than I ever will. That lady’s a trooper. God bless ‘er.

Because, Amber might strongly prefer that AG did not get her into this much pain and difficulty today.
Oh man, poor Amber! Looks like she’s gripping her wound in the last panel.
She certainly hasn’t improved them, but neither would being caught by the cops.
Walky probably has Dina’s number or can get it easily. What he doesn’t have is the knowledge that Dina has drugs that could help Amber.
That I had not considered; maybe Dina will figure out that Amber is in Walky’s room somehow, and bring some pain meds.
Of course, the way these cops have been going, if they’d caught her still in her own bed, she probably could have just told them she had the flu and they’d have left her alone to rest.
I’m genuinely concerned that Amber might still wind up in the hospital
AMBER PLEASE SURVIVE THIS
I will admit that I have not been completely in love with the Keystone Cops routine. But as a mechanism to put these two in a room together (and to give Jennifer some well earned flowers), I like it.
I hate to suggest it but I kind of hope we get a time skip so Amber can recover.
“Consequences!”
Police raid that leads to nothing but rekindling a ship and confirming Jennifer’s belief that Sal’s Amazi-Gril
I don’t know that the whole raid is over yet.
True, but they seem to have addressed the two big dangers: finding the costume and finding the injured Amber herself.
Bit of tonal whiplash but I’ll take it over more police brutality ig
Amber, girlie…
Due to Comic Time I can only assume you’re playing Mario Kart World. It’s time to drop that shit and start playing Kirby Air Riders
the most important thing for amber to do right now is to start grinding city trial tbh
oooooo i been wondering where Dorothy’s doinker went!
how goes yur quest for burger? :9
*Takes furious notes on which games she should be guying next*
She should have done Dark Souls. Now THAT will keep you up from pure rage
Superman 64. She won’t sleep for days.
Spelunky, real lasting jaw breaker of a challenge
I have never heard of this title, which makes me suspect the horror contained within it is cosmic Lovecraftian in severity.
it’s a roguelike platformer thats like Indiana Jones meets the Binding of Isaac
Lovecraftian horror? I mean besides the Hell level, there’s one where you go inside a giant worm if that counts? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I suggest she plays something beautiful and relaxing.
Like DREDGE!
Yes, fish those abominations out of the New England sea.
I mean, if we want to go old school and have her frustration keeping her awake, she could always play some NES TMNT; just replay the underwater bombs stage over and over.
More or less than Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy? I have also heard things about your “friend” in The Last Guardian.
mission accomplished, passing out now
She needed to make sure no one called 911 or involved the authorities. Having done so she can pass out.
Walky is easy to update. Most people would have a jillion questions.
Genuinely one of his biggest strengths.
Get well soon, Amber.
Backtracking through the comments, the cops storming into the girls’ dorm and searching through closets without a search warrent (assuming they don’t have one)? Isn’t that grounds for a lawsuit?
The closets in the dorm rooms, or the closets in the public areas for cleaning supplies and such?
Very specifically individual room closets. We saw one such search.
judging by their behaviors they seem to have a warrant for the girls dorms at least since they entered the women’s dorms for searching but they have not been seen entering the men’s dorm rooms. If they actually have a warrant that could save them from being sued, I’ll be surprised.
Agreed, IANAL, but this feels like a really shaky emergency warrant at best, probably given by a judge on the take.
Plot twist: Carla gets sassed by the cops and pretends to be AmaziGirl because it is an easier way of confessing too her parents than telling them.
depends on the scope of the warrant. The probable cause in this case would be “A woman in a superhero outfit assaulted several police officers and was seen by witnesses going to Read Hall” and the search warrant would allow them to search that specific building for proof tying one student to Amazi-girl. as long as the cops doesnt punch them immediatly when they see the lipstick
Is it that one of them could help her deal with the situation, or is it that she was worried that if one of them (expecially Booster, but maybe Walky too) walked in on her lying passed out in their room with no context they could have called 911?
Both.
Both is good.
Hopefully Walky can take care of Amber for a little bit, or at least he can contact Dina so she can bring Amber some medicine or whatever.
Honestly, these last few scenes with Walky just made my heart quivery for him. Such a great guy! I can absolutely see how he could be easy to fall for….but maybe a bit challenging yet to stay in a relationship with.
Walky’s either going to panic about taking care of her or just pick up the switch and play Mario Kart.
There won’t be any in-between
Ok, but can Walky annoy the cops in such a way to sneak painkillers into his room undetected?
Failing to find anything, the cops are going away by themselves fairly soon.
Betcha Dina is already doing that.
The glue is holding really well, considering she hasn’t reopened any wounds in the process of climbing out of and into windows.
Ooh, smart on Ambers part. I have fibro, and a smooth playing video game you know well ESPECIALLY WITH GOOD MUSIC can be a reaaaaaaaly useful aid for that. Meds may help eventually, but for now, get the poor woman an ice pack.
Cut up, wait did one of the cops friggin shank her???
We do not know yet how she was injured. Only that it was seriously so.
she was shot I think, presumably by that sniper posted on the roof
If she’d been shot by a sniper rifle she would need more than a little tissue glue to hold her together.
She was not shot. https://www.dumbingofage.com/2025/comic/book-16/01-not-so-smooth-criminals/paraphernalia/
Pretty sure it was a stab wound. We didn’t hear anything about the doctor removing a bullet or there being an exit wound. We definitely know the sniper didn’t fire any shots.

the best kind of resistance on their FAAAAAAAAAACE! 😛
I was thinking “you know if she was shot or stabbed then she’s probably gotta be using a ton of muscle to climb like that, there’s no way she wouldn’t be about to collapse and-” then I saw the words getting smaller and larger and her expression crumpled and I thought “oh there it is.”
Mario Kart? Not Donkey Kong Bananza? I’ve lost respect for Amber. Don’t trust 80 dollar Switch 2 launch titles.
She could still be playing Mario Kart 8, Switch 2 is backwards compatible so theres no reason for her to get rid of it
She didn’t spend the money.

I just noticed Amber is still saying “apparently” Amazi-Girl did X or Y. I thought they were communicating again?
I think they are but she’s not exactly in peak condition atm. Amazi-girl is probably still very much knocked out otherwise she’d have taken over to do the window climbing stuff.
We’ve seen no evidence of communication since the incident.
Well, that’s disturbing. Of course, we haven’t seen a lot of her and she’s been in bad shape the whole time, so it might not mean anything.
“no passive resistence on their faces”
So, Walky was doing PASSIVE resistence, yesterday, right??
Yes, definitionally I’d say so. Shielding a target of the police through misdirection and non-violent means would definitely count as passive resistance. Not all of us can knee a cop in the face… but all of us can adopt the “if you see something no you didn’t” attitude
More like ASS-ive resistance, eh?! (I’ll see myself out.)
poor amber : (
outside of carla and jocelyne amber is totally my favorite character, shes a system like me! shes nerdy! she is rly strong! yaaaay
Last panel were the reason I was worried about her in last 7 pages. She’s clearly not good; or high or dizzle because her wounds.
we don’t nearly give Walky enough credit, of course he was aware something was up lol
…oh that looks painful. Hopefully nothing opened up again
Did anybody really not give Walky credit for realising that Amber in his room and a cop prowling the halls meant something was up, which is why he weirded out the cop to go away? Because honestly, that is a disturbing amount of credit to not give someone.
Willis can really get me to even ship the het as a hard sell huh. Someone get her some painkillers and maybe some extra superglue.
No, you’re right.
I think Ray is saying Kim and Ron are the “superhero and goofyguy dynamic”, and this the opossum-trash-creature version of that, but yeah, I can see the syntax isn’t clear if you’re not familar enough with the characters to know she definitely isn’t.
Here for the reference to the Takeuchi-Togashi union reference, the stars in my eyes were nothing less than studded when I found out about that.
Jeepers.
Indeed.
Zoinks.
Now’s Walky’s chance to get a Nintendo system! When she wakes up he can just say the cops took it as evidence!
Amber’s upgraded to a Switch 2, huh.
I assume the sliding timeline means that when the Switch 2 came out in real like her Switch 1 morphed into a Switch 2, just like her 3ds morphed into a Switch when the Switch 1 came out irl
I still think Amazi-Girl didn’t go far enough with her rampage. Zero fatalities? Where are the stakes?
thats what separates her from being just a vigilante, she doesnt kill, just like batman doesnt use guns
