I just realized that my friend and I can actually use the cliche excuse of ‘we were young, it was college!’ for what happened a couple weeks ago.. HAHAHAH xD
rule 34 is general naughty material, rule 36 is a rule that changes depending on what list you are looking at. The only rules that are set in stone are 1, 2, 34, and 35. as far as i’m aware.
And still the cartoonist has not updated the title graphic! WHY HAVEN’T YOU UPDATED THE GRAPHIC, WILLIS!? YOU MUST INSTANTLY SUBMIT TO MY PSEUDO-ANONYMOUS DEMANDS!!!
Nah. The way I figure it, someone rings my doorbell early in the morning, and I’m not expecting them and up and dressed already, it’s either a close friend or family, in which case who cares how I’m dressed, or it’s a missionary or petitioner or something that I don’t really want to talk to, and I find they go away a lot faster when I answer the door in my underwear.
“Hi, have you heard the good… uh… um, your, uh, fly is… uh…”
“Yeah, and?”
“Uh, Jesus. Think about him. Bye.”
This actually happened to my brother with some Jehovah’s Witnesses. Saturday morning, he’d just taken a shower and answered the door in bathrobe and boxers. They were exhibited roughly the same level of disconcertment as in your dialogue there.
I dunno… the idea of waking up to find a random girl who Billie is not particularly fond of or at least friends with, bursting into her room uninvited to play “Motherly caregiver” comes off kinda creepy too.
The shower thing feels a bit out of character considering a previous comic showed Joyce terrified of going to the bathroom with other girls. Fortunately, I’m not one to go insane over continuity in favor of enjoying a funny joke.
(long story short, “I lol’d”)
When I slept on the upper bunk, I rarely jumped down like Billie’s doing there in panel 2. Sends a shock all the way up your knees. She’s a cheerleader though, guess she’s used to diving off of things… and into things (ba dum pish).
Accoutring ot Family Guy if you beat someone with a sock of Valencia Oranges, it doesn’t leave a mark, but gets the lesson across of who’s boss. Billie could look into that.
Willis, you just LOVE to tantalize your fans with possible homoerotic shiping, huh?
Sigh… again, I ask why does Joyce think that barging, uninvited into the bedroom of a perpetually angry and occasionally violent alcoholic is a good idea?
To be honest, I’m impressed by Billie’s self-control. Were I her, I’d be going off on Joyce, essentially telling her to get the hell out. I mean, what Joyce is doing is really unexceptable as far as dorm etiquette goes. She was never given permission to come into the room whenever she wanted. Billie isn’t her sibling. She’s her neighbor. Those are not the same thing.
At this point, I’m fairly certain Billie’s gone on auto-pilot. She’s been through so much shit for the past few days, the night before in particular, that Joyce is just the partially digested cherry on top of a massive, puke-frosted, bug-ridden shit cake.
It might also help that, though so obviously tainted with her infuriating naivite, Joyce’s good intentions in doing this actually appeal to Billie in some small way, in that there’s at least one person who isn’t out to cause her distress intentionally. Doesn’t make it MUCH better, but compared to waking up in and sneaking out of the closet of the girl who is out for your figurative blood, it becomes somewhat bearable.
She hasn’t gone though that much. I mean, let’s take a list. She’s been bullied by an authority figure, tripped over herself trying to figure out how to work with a peer twice, got turned down a job, swallowed her pride and got a job, and experienced mild rudeness from a neighbor. Also she slept terribly last night after some mild chemical abuse.
Sounds like a pretty standard 4 days to me. Just dancing on the broadway that is life.
I’m with Billie on this one.
I wanna be with Billie.
Only if you accept Joyce as your Shower Daddy!
Okay, we’re gonna do some praying. In the shower. Together.
Repeatedly crying out “Oh God” doesn’t count as praying!
It does in black churches!
*ahem*
“Oh, god! Ooooh goooOod!”
“All this and more can be yours. Inquire within.”
“With your penis”
“And a nickel”
And a feather!
We’re gonna do some praying. In the shower. With my penis.
Your Gravatar makes the above comment all the more worse…
Really? Shower buddies sounds like fun.
Suddenly I hear the uproar of a thousand ships launching from afar…
Going the other way.
…from giant catapults as they wizz through the air before they crash spectacularly, crushing the hopes and dreams of thousands of fans.
At least there will be massive fireballs. And flames.
I like fire.
I like stuff blowing up but I don’t like people blowing up.
And cannons fired from ships that wished to see their opposing ship sunk.
Billie, whatever you do, DON’T DROP THE SOAP!
That’s a disturbing image.
Joyce loves it when Billie wears lather. ^_^
Now that is a disturbing image. *cringe*
That’s pretty ironic reaction, considering who your avatar is this time.
i’m not into leather.
Lather, not leather.
Ooooohhhhhhh…….
Then ignore my previous two comments.
If her soap is Imperial Leather then it works for both.
(I found that so confusing growing up)
I always figured that Imperial Leather was a misprint that never was corrected, Imperial Lather makes way more sense.
Bickendan is correct, I did not misspell leather, I MEANT LATHER.
lath·er
1. A foam formed by soap or detergent agitated in water, as in washing or shaving.
Mkvenner, that’s more like it. ^_^
Great! Now I can’t stop picturing Billie naked
Aizat, you say that like it’s a bad thing.
Actually, it’s a good thing.
Yes, it’s a very good thing.
Not to me! I have a very fucked up mind.
Joyce, you’re not making your case any better =/
Then again, Billie DID just come out of the closet…
Too strong, too strong! Play it smooth, you’ll get a date!
Looks like Joyce harbors a little PSL of her own…
Now I’m harbouring some PSL, damn you Joyce, DAMN YOU!
Billie came out of the closet just in time for college experimentation
No college experience is truely complete without experimenting with lesbainism.
Especially if you are male.
College is a great time for men to experiment with lesbianism before they settle into boring old heterosexuality when they go out in the real world.
Yeah, I should totally do that!
Score some of that hot scissoring action while you still can.
I don’t care if I have a penis, I will make it work!
I just realized that my friend and I can actually use the cliche excuse of ‘we were young, it was college!’ for what happened a couple weeks ago.. HAHAHAH xD
If Billie explained what that implies, would Joyce break again?
maybe not?
Billie could use that moment to escape….
…or laugh her @ss off! Oh, wait, no, that’d be me laughing. ^_^
Now there’s a print that Willis could make some money off of.
Why does that seem more disturbing with my new avatar than back when I had Sal?
Cause you’re smiling instead of grimacing.
…and she’s back into the closet.
now with re-enforced dead-locks.
And a deadlock seal.’
…You know just in case someone has a sonic screwdriver on them.
She has the sonic screwdriver in there with her. It can get lonely all alone in the closet.
WOW, the sonic screwdriver really CAN do anything, including Rule 36.
That’s Rule 34
Ceiling monkey is watching you.
A sonic screwdriver as a character works as Rule 34, pictures of people ‘getting their rocks off’ with sonic screwdrivers is Rule 36.
rule 34 is general naughty material, rule 36 is a rule that changes depending on what list you are looking at. The only rules that are set in stone are 1, 2, 34, and 35. as far as i’m aware.
Rule 36 is:
If it exists, someone has a fetish for it. No exceptions
What Mkvenner just said.
And a barricade. Just in case if someone managed to open the deadlock seal and the deadlock.
Well anything can be overcome with right amount and placement of plastic explosive.
Well, with proper tamping, yes.
But let’s say that Deadlock just happens to not want to stay closed.
And yes, I simply had to post because the word deadlock was used.
And Billie passes Dorothy in the tag count!
I am way too obsessed with this “race.”
And still the cartoonist has not updated the title graphic! WHY HAVEN’T YOU UPDATED THE GRAPHIC, WILLIS!? YOU MUST INSTANTLY SUBMIT TO MY PSEUDO-ANONYMOUS DEMANDS!!!
Relax, man. It’s just the title graphic. No need to bring torches and pitchforks.
Aww but it’s fun watching them get worked up over nothing.
Yet.
It also could be that Willis is biding his time.
Two more appearances and Billie pulls even with Joe.
Shower buddies? Man, Joyce is sure subtle.
Oh Joyce, you’ll be ready for your Gender Studies pre-req in no time.
The avatar adds so much to this.
Oh, hey, and I’m not Walky anymore, which just makes it even better.
Hahaha, agreed!
Joyce… WHAT.
No. No level of naïveté can explain that. That’s a Freudian slip right there.
DoA Joyce is gayer than DoA Ethan.
That’s a possibility.
So…you’re saying that deep down, Joyce wants to be “shower buddies” with her family? I’ll admit that would be Freudian, but…
I don’t think that was brought up…
Second panel, last sentence.
I meant the combination of the thoughts.
“Maw and Paw were brotha ‘n’ sista, didn’t ‘fect me none.”
“Son, if she ain’t good enough for her own kin, she ain’t good enough for you!”
Because DoA Ethan is straight, right?
::is shot::
I’ll be shower buddies with Joyce. Or Billie. Or both.
Definitely Billie. Could even suffer Joyce for the opportunity.
I’d prefer Ruth.
If I remember the last time Joyce had a shower, she put on about a dozen layers of clothes…could this be in fact…
Anti-Joyce?
You mean her Id.
That reminds me of a piece of fan-art I once saw that had Joyce and Anti-Joyce totally making out.
Someone needs to update that with IW Joyce, Anti-Joyce, and DoA Joyce having some sort of three-way interaction.
when Leslie said they we’re all in woman studies because they were all lesbians… she may have been on to something
There could be a Credit or even a Distinction grade for Joyce if she keeps it up.
And if she plays her cards right, a Religion column might show up in the newspaper soon…
But only if she adds Chest Windows to her clothing.
Joyce would not do that, I think.
anti-joyce would!
Anti-joyce = Id.
I think you’re taking people to literal, Aizat.
True enough, but at the same time, it provides new ops for comedic material.
I like taking people to literal. It made my life more interesting.
I can get behind the best-case scenario this line of thought implies!
Damn it Willis, I’m above this kind of temptation, but the rest of your fans are weak-minded fools!
I became the only member of my family to always sleep in my day-clothes.
Why?
“What if somebody rings the doorbell and it’s early in the morning? You HAVE to be dressed so you can answer it!”
Oh God…insert the voice of J.D. and Dr. Cox into the final panel. FanTAStic.
They hopeful smoochey face Joyce is making when talks about being shower buddies. Just. Gah. XD
Can’t unhear. Or unsee, for that matter. I don’t know why, but the idea of J.D. as Joyce is hilarious.
HAHAHHAHAHAH YESSSS! That just made this my favorite panel EVER.
This Joyce/Billie Ship must be the size of the Titanic, I’m half expecting an ‘iceberg’ to hit anytime now.
The only thing that trumps it for me(which sadly doesn’t get many moments to be teased) is Billie/Walky.
Walky IS the iceberg. An iceberg covered in Nachitos.
The analogy sort of breaks down at this point.
It’s just a case of figuring out which side he’ll go for?
But what a GLORIOUS analogy it is. So who is singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ in this analogy?
Beef.
I was going to say Dina, but your answer was better.
Bovinae.
Just hope that there’s no talking mice, rapping dogs or talking dolphins and magic moonbeams on this ship.
You also seen the animated versions of Titanic or at least the NC reviews about them, I take it.
Yes I do. Seriously, who in their right mind would change a tragic accident into a children’s movie with a nonsensical premise?
The same sort of people who thought that Dante’s Divine Comedy would be an ideal subject for a children’s book.
And a video game.
What’s next? A game about the Hindenburg disaster? I apologize if this is a tasteless joke.
That or 9/11 The Musical.
Shower buddies are the best kind of buddies!
It’s better than Sects Buddies.
But sect buddies get to enjoy drinking refreshing Kool-Aid together.
No! Don’t drink the Kool-Aid!
Yeah, its for intravenous injection :P.
Man, the last panel is a great Foxtrot style panel AND gives me…images…to…think of…
Sorry, I drifted there…
“And if you convert to Christianity, we can also be Sects Buddies!”
WATCH OUT BILLIE, IT’S A TRACT!
Talk about perfect timing…
I’m all in favor of bringing up this meme for every time Joyce appears.
“Likes a tract.”
Geez I hate coming this late into the comment. Especially on such a great one… All the best jokes have already been made!
DAMN YOU WILLIS AND YOUR SOFTBALL JOKES! DAMN YOU IN THE FAAAAAAACE!
Thats the type of joke I refer to as “low hanging fruit”.
Is making a “I have low hanging fruit with my penis” comment the appropriate response here?
In this universe, penis is always the appropriate response.
(ignore avatar).
It would be if that comment invovled your mom.
I used my low hanging fruit to bang your mom. For a nickel.
You guys are awesome hahahaha.
Joyce is so cute! Taking care of Billie like that. But the shower thing is a touch creepy.
Unless joyces dresses like this.
http://www.dumbingofage.com/2010/comic/book-1/02-uphill-from-here/shower/

(long story short, “I lol’d”)
Clearly dinner with Dorothy has worked wonders.
Which leads to this question: Did something happen with/between Joyce and Dotty?
DRAMA BUTTON
Perhaps she made herself a shower-buddy last time she lathered up, and said buddy got her more comfortable with the situation?
So if we ever see Dotty and/or Joyce blush when they spot each other, that would provide all the shipping fuel we need.
Shower buddies.
I… I must DRAW this.
DOO EET.
I have FAAAAAAITH in you!
“Shower buddies?” *snerk* Joyce clearly does not realize how homoerotic she sounds there.
Or Does She?
Her Id does.

When I slept on the upper bunk, I rarely jumped down like Billie’s doing there in panel 2. Sends a shock all the way up your knees. She’s a cheerleader though, guess she’s used to diving off of things… and into things (ba dum pish).
Man the decks, all ships are a-go!
Poor, poor naive Joyce. If only she understood what horrendous things her words have caused.
That’s how I’d react to someone wanting to be my “Shower Buddy”.
Of course, “shower buddy” means something completely different to men.
No, I think it means just about the same thing either way. Just not if you’re Joyce.
Ok, maybe it’s not “completely” different. But there are some subtle (or possibly not so subtle) differences between the two.
Great, now I’m starting to sound like a connoisseur of prison rape.
Are you?
Yet another case of an avatar adding that little something extra!
I think you have to have first-hand knowledge of something to be a connoisseur, so I’m not.
It’s not exactly a field I wish to study.
Shower buddies.
I dreamed this day would come.
I’d be her shower buddy if you know what i mean
This is the first time I have ever actually seen Billie’s Asian half.
Asian half?
Is that like Two-Face? Or Two-Boob?
Nock it off.
Why? That joke was made back around the last time Joyce was shown taking a shower.
I believe she is refering to Billies eyes without the glasses.
I must admit that, Willis’s drawing style aside, they do look kinda Asian, moreso in panel 4.
Billie, honey, violence is acceptable at this point. Really, it’s okay.
Just make sure she’s breathing when you’re done.
If you need tips just contact either Aubrey or Pee-Jee.
Accoutring ot Family Guy if you beat someone with a sock of Valencia Oranges, it doesn’t leave a mark, but gets the lesson across of who’s boss. Billie could look into that.
All I take from this comic is Joyce and Billie being “Shower Buddies”
No, Joyce! You’re encouraging the shippers!
Sounds like Joyce wants to ‘pop in’…
Warning: Billie/Joyce shippers with weak hearts may wish to skip this episode.
These comments are the greatest comments ever. I want to hug them and squeeze them and name them George!
Looney Toons are the bestest ever!
“I will call them Squishy, and they will be mine, and they will be my Squishies.”
David. Limited print. David, are you listening? LIMITED PRINT. Even if it’s limited just to ME.
100 quid a print.
Joyce’s face in the last panel scares me…
I know the “shower buddies” line is distracting me majorly, but did Joyce just channel Horschack in that last panel?
shower buddies are forever
Where is the fanfiction of this? I demand fanfiction of this.
I second the motion for JoycexBillie fanfiction!
All in favor say “Aye”
Aye
Aye-Aye!
And why is the rum always gone.
We had to make room for the jar of dirt.
got to follow roberts rules of order here
Am I the only one to imagine last panel Joyce thusting her hips as she says SHOWER BUDDIES?
Not anymore, you’re not.
You had to do that, don’t you?
But of cause I did. >:)
Willis, you just LOVE to tantalize your fans with possible homoerotic shiping, huh?
Sigh… again, I ask why does Joyce think that barging, uninvited into the bedroom of a perpetually angry and occasionally violent alcoholic is a good idea?

Also she slept terribly last night after some mild chemical abuse.
Sounds like a pretty standard 4 days to me. Just dancing on the broadway that is life.
Wait, “figurative”?
pronounced “Buckets O-“
OH MY GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER MOUTH?
She’s a duck now. It’s cool. Don’t worry about it. Don’t say anything if you don’t wanna be offensive to the duckpeople.
Reminds me of Doraemon for some reason.
Good natured naive characters.Sometimes I want to hug them, other times I want to strangle them. This is mostly the latter
