I think this brings up a much bigger question: Why are there no DOA/SP! paper dolls? And a super special Batman paperdoll with all his ridiculous only-for-toy-purposes gadgets?
While going through some reeeally old stuff during our move, I found a Sal paper doll that dated from my high school years. It’s funny, because it includes all these tiny shirts and a baseball cap that’s the size of Texas. Oh, proportions.
I say white blouse, orange and pink sweater vest because it’s the first outfit I think of when I imagine Joyce, but the teal shirt with the argyle sweater vest is my favorite. For the record.
I’m skeptical. Current poll leaders (at 1,199 votes) are:
– the outfit she’s wearing in the republished image
– the outfit in the today’s comic (full disclosure: my choice!)
which accounts for over 50%.
I kind of expected those to be the most popular anyway. The orange-and-blue was popular before it was even used in the comic. If painting stripes on the statues isn’t cost effective, I’ll probably end up going that route.
Which is all well and good, I suppose. My point (which I didn’t really get across clearly) was that the poll slants to the uninformed, myself included. I like those two top picks, but if there was any deeper significance to the different outfits, I’d never have known before voting.
If she knew she were going to have a figurine made of her, she’d probably dress up for the occasion … it’d also make it waaaay cuter when sending her on “dates” with the Ninja Turtles and Transformers figurines.
I picked the orange blouse & brown vestcoat because it’s closest to the SEMME outfit, but I would SO buy the dress from the date. That’s the dress she was wearing in my favorite print.

Where did Hollywood go so wrong? I thought movies were supposed to be an escape from reality, a chance to put your worries aside and not have to think about any underlying ideas or concepts. Well, not anymore.

It's not a new argument, of course, but Chesterton dismissed it effectively in 1908.
"You will hear everlastingly... this argument that the rich man cannot be bribed. The fact is, of course, that the rich man is bribed; he has been bribed already. That is why he is a rich man."

wilbur, savvy enough to know he's in a comic strip but still not a great actor, awkwardly lifts a muffin up into frame so that we, the audience, understand that he has a muffin right now, which is very important narratively, but he's not really selling it well as an organic, human action

I’d buy it, but the thought of Joyce in anything but her SEMME outfit seems so alien (lower-case “a”) to me!
(just make sure she has her Trademark triangle grin)
Do you really think I’d leave off the grin?
What about the OG sweater vest hawtness?! http://www.shortpacked.com/limitedprints/strawpaper.jpg
DoA Joyce would be afraid to leave her room with a skirt that short. Also, believe she’s going to Hell.
Or, the pink shortsleeve and vest combo would look good with a navy blue skirt. SKIRT, SKIRT, SKIRT, SKIRT!
Hearty agreement here.
What about that dress from her date? Or are you saving that for a variant?
Orange blouse, blue sweatervest.
There is no other choice.
Dress from the date. Book it. Done.
I also third (or whatever number this winds up being) for the date dress. That was phenomenal.
While date dress is a close second for me, I would have to go with SEMME attire.
Seconded.
I’d prefer SEMME attire, personally. Even though I first found these comics through DoA, I’m a huge fan of that version of the universe.
SEMME outfit. no contest.
A G-string.
How do you know she’s not wearing that under all the outfits.
Yellow dress, period.
I say white blouse, orange and pink sweater vest because it’s the first outfit I think of when I imagine Joyce, but the teal shirt with the argyle sweater vest is my favorite. For the record.
I’m glad someone else liked the teal/argyle. I really like it, but my wife is all ARGLEBARGLE about that one.

I feel sort of bad that now I’m hoping stripes won’t be cost-effective.

‘Nother vote for the yellow dress!
If she knew she were going to have a figurine made of her, she’d probably dress up for the occasion … it’d also make it waaaay cuter when sending her on “dates” with the Ninja Turtles and Transformers figurines.
She should wear a lobster costume.
ALL
THE DRESS FROM THE DATE!!!
i had to shout, he wanted hear me otherwise. why would we want soemthing we have no perverse sexual lust over?
wouldn’t* hear
Sorry, but ANY figure of Joyce will inspire PSL, regardless of what she’s wearing. She could be wearing NOTHING and still inspire PSL!
Er, wait…
her in a chastity belt would kind of give the wrong idea, wouldnt it… hmm.
SEMME outfit please!
I picked the orange blouse & brown vestcoat because it’s closest to the SEMME outfit, but I would SO buy the dress from the date. That’s the dress she was wearing in my favorite print.
I might even buy two!
The SEMME Outfit would be for me, I´d buy them right away. Got in love with her and that outfit during It’s Walky
Yellow dress please pretty please with sugar and a strawberry on top!
