Well seeing as last year, I got a commission via Kickstarter of Joyce, Sal and Amber making out, and the year before I got one of Joyce and Dotty making out…heck YEAH I’d love to see Joyce/Dina that badly!
I am now worried that Mike is perfectly fine, that whole thing was a misdirect, and that Willis is about to kill Becky for real.
Like, the narrative elements fit alarmingly well. He puts out that he broke a rule then drops Mike off a stairway with no further info. He makes us think for ages that Mike is dead. He teases us with Mike being dead a few days ago. He then has Becky joke about dying… and then has a bullet hit her through the window. They rush her to the ER, but can’t save her. Meanwhile, Mike is sitting in an ER bed eating jello or something with bandages on his head.
Like… I’m seriously scared that I have just guessed the next week worth of comics.
I really don’t want to be right about this.
Please let me not be right about this.
You are right… They are going to kill JOYCE!! And since her character is self-referential… Willis also died in college… HE’S BEEN A GHOST THIS WHOLE TIME!!!
Killing her now would in Toedad’s mind send her soul to hell: he needs to reprogramme her to be somebody else* (and probably grow her haircut out) before she’s “allowed” to die.
*She “needs” to be straight, obedient, unquestioning, etc and these things are basically the polar opposite to being Becky.
It’s quite unlikely that Toedad tries to kill her outright without trying to abduct her first. Blaine shooting Amber and blaming it on Toedad, sure, he wants her ff his budget any way it takes.
I’m so happy at how unmistakable the love between these two is just from Becky’s face, and also that Joyce is 100% onto Becky’s masking/avoidance behavior
That escalated quickly. Seriously. I didn’t expect this to go this far. Well, now Joyce has to have sex with a woman that believes in evolution. Not sure if Dina wants to have sex with a creationist.
Joyce and I are kin in this regard. It’s a ridiculous promise. In the long term, it’d of course be evidently ridiculous and Dina would not be in a happy relationship. But Joyce absolutely means it. And in the long term, if Becky did die from this, Joyce would absolutely make it a personal mission to look out for Dina and make sure she’s happy and okay.
And actually, that is the spirit of the bible rule they are quoting. The idea that the widow is looked after and not alone. The marrying and sex and having children part is optional, but the “left behind partners need to be cared for“ is still up to date!
Also, just really happy my comments aren’t disappearing into “awaiting moderation” anymore. For a while none of my posts would never appear and I had no idea why.
I remember something like that happened to me once, and the reason for it was that I kept capitalizing random letters in my email to get a different DoA character as my avatar. Apparently if you do that too much, it stops allowing your comments through. Of course, that was before I started using this Twilight Sparkle image as my avatar.
“In accordance with the Bible, should I fall you must mate with my wife till you produce offspring.”
“But….. lesbians?”
“Yea… its going to take a while. Get to work.”
According to a number of recent research papers, we may have already reached peak Joyce-face, and the world urgently needs to transition to other sources of face such as Becky.
SWEETJOYCE: “BECKY YOU STAY ALIVE AND DON’T PUT ME IN THAT POSITION I DON’T EVEN LIKE DINA AND SHE HATES ME AND I WOULDN’T EVEN….” (Begins to backspace)
R M MacIntyre (vote desanto 4 everyone): “Okay, so you don’t like Dina but girl-on-girl sexytimes doesn’t bother you?”
In Joyce’s room, Dorothy starts worrying about the pinpoint-size of Joyce’s pupils.
I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?
One of my favorite moments from Nobel Prize history:
The Nobel Committee couldn’t reach Stanford professor Paul Milgrom to let him know that he had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics, so his fellow winner, Robert Wilson, went over to his house in the middle of the night to wake him up!
today in #9chickweedlane i learned that i, too, would stop referring to "aunt xiulan" as such and swap to just "xiulan" now that you're marrying her son
be pretty weird otherwise
"sending the dogs" and "releasing the hounds" should have very similar definitions, and yet they are very much different
but it'd be funny if mary here were thanking them for releasing the hounds
i guess for some reason i wanted to read more about the shfigurarts wicked figures and, of course, OF COURSE, there is fandom beef with any figuarts release that isn't an anime character, of course
A thing that probably seems weird now. We didn’t know Vader had a mechanical hand till 1983. We didn’t know (for sure) that he had mechanical legs until 2005.
Optimus Prime's appearance at the end of GIJOE #140 is extremely funny to me, because the penciler (Chris Batista) definitely knows "what Optimus Prime looks like" while the colorist definitely doesn't.
*comment section is typing*
*furiously*
it’s tough, do i want joyce/dina *that* badly??
… I’d be willing to support wacky hijinks where Becky’s death is faked for, oh, say, a week or so.
A week IRL, or a week in comic?
Those are VERY different things.
Yes
Well seeing as last year, I got a commission via Kickstarter of Joyce, Sal and Amber making out, and the year before I got one of Joyce and Dotty making out…heck YEAH I’d love to see Joyce/Dina that badly!
This is what alternate timelines are for!
I suggest we name that pairing “Dice”.
No, “Dice” is plural. When there’s only one pairing, it’s “Die”. As in, “I would Die for this ship.”
“Dice” is also singular. Source: I said so.
Sorry- no dice.
[Dr. Evil finger quotes]
“Typing”
ONEHANDED 100
Pfft. How long do you think it’ll be before Joyce remembers that the rule is that the brother is supposed to sire children by his dead brother’s wife?
This can be adapted for modern times. Joyce and Dina can adopt together, or there is insemination.
Can you imagine the resulting Joyce-a-saur children?
Yeah, they’d be dino-mite.
At last, Dina’s plan becomes clear.
“if i’m married to her, she HAS to believe in evolution”
She’ll sneak it into the wedding vows.
You misspelled ‘evilution’
I have launched a new ship.
It is a real menage.
… I ship it.
After the way Menage a 3 ended, I don’t want to get my hopes up.
Didi was a plot tumor on the level of the Uchiha, my god.
Remember Kiley?
Lol, this is a great one
Pfft.
Seriously, though, glad Joyce told her.
levirate marriage more like GAYviRIGHTS marriage
Comments like this are why this comic needs an upvote system.
Its in the bible, ya gotta do it Joyce lol
We have the story of Onan to guide us.
awww gosh they’re such good friends
Anyone else notice the open window behind Becky?
It’s not open, that’s just how the window frame is designed.
(Unless you’re referring to the curtains and not the glass pane, that is.))
… I suddenly have a very, very bad feeling about this.
I am now worried that Mike is perfectly fine, that whole thing was a misdirect, and that Willis is about to kill Becky for real.

I really don’t want to be right about this.
Please let me not be right about this.
Given that the Sinister Sires are explicitly targeting Joyce, I don’t think you’re right about this.
You are right… They are going to kill JOYCE!! And since her character is self-referential… Willis also died in college… HE’S BEEN A GHOST THIS WHOLE TIME!!!
Sweet zombi Willis!
Your username needs acknowledgement.
Since there is an upcoming interview on national TV, it is a dramatic necessity that whatever happens happens during the interview.
That is the most awful kind of plot protection ever.
Except Amber was talking to Mike a few comics ago, and appeared undamaged.
I’m not completely sure I would describe Amber as undamaged. Incredibly awesome, yes. (Maybe even amazing) Undamaged, not so much.
Pretty sure that was “ghost in your head Mike”. His lack of shading was a subtle tell.
Also he suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and disappeared just as quickly.
It’s quite unlikely that Toedad tries to kill her outright without trying to abduct her first. Blaine shooting Amber and blaming it on Toedad, sure, he wants her ff his budget any way it takes.
Not only did I notice the window, I noticed the very sinister bush lurking outside.
The apartment is on the second story, so those are trees. At least that makes it more difficult to get an angle on the picture window from the ground.

This is, in fact, how best friends talk about serious issues. Love their dynamic.
That slipshine’s gonna come with some mixed feelings
I’m so happy at how unmistakable the love between these two is just from Becky’s face, and also that Joyce is 100% onto Becky’s masking/avoidance behavior
Also the sadistic glee in the last panel
god i love becky
Saaame.
lol Joyce realized she really walked herself into that one huh
Huh, so that’s how Becky handles when you point out her coping mechanisms.
She jumps to a non serious conversation and makes you feel uncomfortable.
Escalating the goof to distract from feels? Sure thing.
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2020/comic/book-10/02-to-remind-you-of-my-love/facedown-2/
I see I wasn’t the only one who noticed. XD I was also impressed by how well Joyce knows Becky to have been able to see through that.
It’s hard to focus on that when part of my mind is visualizing reluctant Joyce/Dina sexytimes though.
THESE TWO OH MY GOSH
Becky, that’s not how levirate marriage works….
Until now.
Maaaybe that’s how a LESBIAN levirate marriage works… you don’t know!!
Security won’t be able to stop Toedad because they can’t believe someone who looks like that actually exists.
They would shoot him thinking he is an alien monster.
I thought that is what Semme is for with all the skull n Dagger stuff.
So if Joyce dies, Becky has to do sexytimes to Dorothy?
… I ship it.
It’s biblical
Or if Dina dies, then Sarah and Becky… 80
That escalated quickly. Seriously. I didn’t expect this to go this far. Well, now Joyce has to have sex with a woman that believes in evolution. Not sure if Dina wants to have sex with a creationist.
Given Dina’s past interactions with Joyce, she definitely does not.
…. unless it’s a hatefuck. But I don’t think that’s Dina’s thing. Or Joyce’s.
Onan thought reproductive sex with his brother’s widow was optional. Look what happened to him.
Of course, that was before I started using this Twilight Sparkle image as my avatar.
and a very dapper Twilight Sparkle it is.
Aha, then that’s probably what happens to my comments over on the itswalky-site. I didn’t understand why they never showed up.
I needed this laugh today
Best strip ever.
“Ok. Please don’t die.”
Becky’s smile in the third…. and the fourth… and in every panel is life.
“In accordance with the Bible, should I fall you must mate with my wife till you produce offspring.”
“But….. lesbians?”
“Yea… its going to take a while. Get to work.”
I sure hope that if said sex ever were to happen, that it would involve dinosaurs in some way, shape or form.
Perhaps being performed atop of Fuckface II, the giant plushy thingy.
I’m pretty sure if Joyce turns out to be interested in women as well as men, the woman she’d most likely want to do sexytimes with is Dorothy.
I would agree, but for the purposes of this strip, it’s a 90% funny 10% heartwarming gag, and I love it.
Now that is the BEST bible interpretation i ever heard.
We missed out on some pretty good Joyce-faces in the last panel.
On the other hand we got a great Becky-face, o all is well.
According to a number of recent research papers, we may have already reached peak Joyce-face, and the world urgently needs to transition to other sources of face such as Becky.
“also, you’d have to do dinosaur stuff with her”
“Joyce is typing in all caps”
“I’D RATHER DO THE SEX”
SWEETJOYCE: “BECKY YOU STAY ALIVE AND DON’T PUT ME IN THAT POSITION I DON’T EVEN LIKE DINA AND SHE HATES ME AND I WOULDN’T EVEN….” (Begins to backspace)
R M MacIntyre (vote desanto 4 everyone): “Okay, so you don’t like Dina but girl-on-girl sexytimes doesn’t bother you?”
In Joyce’s room, Dorothy starts worrying about the pinpoint-size of Joyce’s pupils.
Ben: stroke? Or concussion?
Yes
We’ll never know the four paragraphs of incoherent ravings that Joyce types and then deleted.
No, but we can guess…
BECKY PLS DON’T DIE^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D
BUT THAT’S A SI^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D
YOU’RE SUCH A BIT^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D
OK
You forgot
BUT WHAT ABOUT DORO^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D^D
BECKY YOU ABSOLUTE MADLASS ♡
Five perfect facial expressions.
PLEASE LET US SEE THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TEXTING LOL
I’m really looking forward to Joyce trying to explain to Dorothy what has made her face go so burning red.
Glowing Sssooo hotly in the infrared range that the curtains burst into flames? Yeah, Dorothy would want to know about that.
Domme Becky! *melt
Indirect threesome (not)
Toedad: “I’M HERE TO DO EVIL THIN…”
Joyce and Dina: “THE HECK YOU WILL!!! WE ARE NOW EVEN MORE MOTIVaTED TO KEEP BECKY ALIVE UNTIL SHE’S 103!”
BLESS THEM
I love Becky. She care about Dina’s future happiness ♡.
But then what will happen to Dorothy and the kids???
Ugged hot chicks… Will get Becky’s attention right away.
Not entirely different from unugged hot chicks
Joyce and Becky’s friendship is so nice. They just get each other.
But Sarah is also Joyce’s sister, and offered to let the Saruyamas adopt her. Doesnt’ that make Dina and Joyce sisters too?
Wait, no, that would make Dina and Becky sisters too, and we can’t have that. Sisterhood must be non-transitive.
