Ah, right, she did ask “How does this make you feel?” She can’t really say that Becky is incorrect about that.
And if it’s about Dina’s purpose in touching her, she says it’s consoling her about the jealousy, but then she’s also doing it in this context of using it as an example, where she actually expected the meaning of the touch to be misinterpreted.
Well, but the purpose in *asking* that was to illustrate that how the person interprets the gesture doesn’t necessarily match how it was intended. She is illustrating that “Here’s what you feel, and here’s how it differs from what I intended.” It’s not technically phrased exactly the way she means it, but it’s enough to convey her point.
Following this, I’ve realized that when NGPZ wrote seconded, they meant fourthed, and I eighthed, which _should_ make this 16thed, except it’s uncouth to second one’s own comment and now I’ve made a terrible mess of things.
The mathematical terminology depends on a number of factors, however. For instance, you seem to be assuming “seconded” is multiplicative, whereas I would argue that if one were to convert this particular bit of parliamentary procedure into math terms, it would be additive. You second someone’s motion to express support FOR the motion, as if two people agree there’s merit in the motion, others might as well and thus a vote is worth taking on the matter, it is essentially a second vote, with the person presenting the motion in the first place being the first vote, now that there’s two votes you take a full vote to see if there’s sufficient support for the motion to carry.
At which point the correction wouldn’t be that NGPZ fourthed, but rather Thirded, as they are providing the third vote in favor of the motion. However, that brings us to the second such quibble: Was NGPZ seconding Doctor_Who’s motion that Dina is the best character by several orders of magnitude, or StClair’s motion for agreement with Doctor_Who’s claim? Going a step further, either way StClair did not second Doctor_Who’s motion, merely agreed with the claim, which would suggest that if NGPZ was in fact seconding Doctor_Who’s motion, they WOULD be the second, as per procedure, at which point the proper next step would be to take the matter to vote.
(and yes, I understood the math joke was technically in reference to orders of magnitude, not necessarily suggesting seconding was supposed to be a doubling of the vote, but orders of magnitude ARE inherenly multiplicative and parliamentary procedure also doesn’t support orders of magnitude. Also, your joke was funny, this diatribe wasn’t intended to criticize or “correct” your joke, I just thought it would also be funny to run with it)
Careful, you might be tempting fate (i.e. Willis) by concentrating so much unambiguous fan love for Dina! Keep it up, and they’ll reveal that she’s actually secretly been in league with Asher’s family the whole time, or something.
To balance things out, allow me to announce that *I*, at least, actually DON’T like Dina! I think she’s bad! And evil! And that’s because…um…er…

I’m glad somebody actually will. Dorothy’s conviction that she can be patient enough to outlast Becky’s annoying rivalry is really getting on my nerves.
Some people say it is a friendly rivalry or Dorothy doesn’t mind, but if so Dorothy would participate in the joke. She’s literally said on-panel that her strategy was to be compassionate until Becky started acting like a genuine friend.
I mean dorothy’s role in the bit is to sandbag it. its like, the established mechanic. its been explicitley the joke the entire time, and especially so when dorothy achnowledged that she knew it was a bit on screen to becky and they both went ‘okay cool’ about it basically.
I am doing well, thank you for asking. I just finished submitting some applications for research technician jobs at one of the local colleges. They seem like great (and to be honest desperately needed) opportunities. I am pretty stressed prepping for the interviews I hope to get, but, ultimately, I am just glad to be moving towards my goals again. I was feeling really stagnant and trapped. How are you?
Glad to hear you’re moving towards your goals that much!
I’m currently in crunch time these days trying to earn enough for grocery cash, hoping I can make enough and build enough libraries to start getting the ball rolling on making a Dumbing of Age fan game again.
Folks around here, if possible, please lend me a little energy DBZ style for the latter? I could really use it honestly.
Fun fact, going by context, Joyce’s response, and what appears to be Becky putting her mittens around Joe’s hand in Joyce’s shoulder (for emphasis), this isn’t Becky calling out Joyce rubbing faces with Dorothy, this is Becky pointing out that the touch starvation angle is a way for Joyce to get “all up in this” with regards to touching Joe guilt-free.
And Joyce’s response basically confirms that she is low-key aware.
Also can we give it up for how Dina and Joe interact historically, in which Joe is not all hot and bothered by contact with her? I think she’ll be a great teacher for this exercise in assuaging his fears.
Everyone in previous comment sections saying Carla is the best or Becky is the best, when the objective truth of the matter is that Dina is, and forever will be, the best.
Becky’s jealousy/immaturity can be a bit much sometimes, but strips like this one give me confidence in Dina’s ability to navigate that dynamic. Early in their relationship I was worried she’d get her heart broken as “the rebound”. And while heartbreak is still definitely possible, she’s definitely grown into the relationship in a big way.
It really is.Here Dina correctly identifies Becky’s Beckxiling of Dorothy as jealousy and proves she knows that Becky is carrying at least a small forever-torch for Joyce. And Becky, judging by her expression in panel four, understands that and feels bad, until Dina closes with ‘I was trying to support you and now I feel supported by your obvious continued attraction/attachment to me.’
But Dina didn’t ask what Becky thought she intended, she asked how it made Becky feel :S
I guess a part of it is I don’t understand what point Dina’s trying to make here. Yes, touches can have more than one interpretation, and that’s part of the whole premise of Joyce’s exercise! To prove that her perception of non-inherently-sexual touches is aligned with their intention.
While Becky’s answer about her own feelings was not strictly incorrect, it was vastly different from Dina’s intention. The point is that non-verbal communication like touch doesn’t have one strict interpretation. Dina, who is used to misinterpreting social cues, would understand this well.
#NotAllLesbians want to commit public indecency after a simple shoulder touch (through winter clothing), before anyone gets any ideas here. Willis is not trying to say that all gay women are so uncontrollably horny that they can’t wait to get indoors, stop saying that’s the narrative.
The narrative is clearly that all lesbians want to eat cooch in the snow. It’s refreshing! And the cold provides a brisk juxtaposition to the natural umami!!
It’s like the scene towards the end of season 3 of Community where they rescue the Dean, Jeff touches his shoulder, and he splooshes and then collapses.
yunno kinda related to this strip, kinda not but the whole “Touch starved” Joe actually makes sense.
Besides Danny he’s never really shown with any meaningful relationships at all? Its always been sex with him.
I wonder if his rampant horniness and sex crazy behaviour was more of a result of at least getting SOME form of intimacy from another person, even if it meant nothing and was mostly just a carnal night of good ol woopie.
Which makes Joyce who has unresolved christian guilt for even THINKING about sex probably the most interesting pairing for them both.
She clearly WANTS it but cant overlook her upbringing (and brainwashing lets not lie) over her desires. Its sinful, even if she doesnt prescribe to that thinking anymore its still there.
Which means in time (provided they stay together) That Joyce will be able to give Joe that soft intimacy that doesnt require sex, they can hug, hold hands, just exists next to each other, and Joe can help Joyce find enjoyment with sexual situations with him, in a way she won’t feel shamed or sinful in doing so.
Whats more the whole thing that happened with Sarah’s sister will likely colour how Joe approached Joyce in this, being in a similiar background especially in regards to sex, Joe can have the expectation that if hey start doing it theres a very good possibility shes going to want to stop before anything happens, and say what you will about Joe, he respects consent like gospel, which makes him a good person to help Joyce explore her sexuality safely.
Why would Dina be arrested? Are they in some Arabian country? That’s the only place I know of where the victim of sexual assault is considered the criminal…
Becky isn’t saying “I want to force myself on you in a sexual assault” she’s saying “you touching me makes me want to have passionate sex right here and now”
And Dina is saying she doesn’t plan on going to jail for public indeceny or lewd conduct or what have you
She’s probably thinking of public-indecency laws. Because she’ll be enthusiastically co-operating or it won’t happen. Becky respects Dina’s boundaries. Anyway Dina is not taking the “threat” seriously; that’s just Becky being over-the-top because she doesn’t have any other setting.
What part of Becky’s statement implies a lack of consent? What part of her interactions with Dina have ever seemed like she didn’t care a great deal about how Dina felt and whether she was enjoying their time together?
So you’re saying that US has an entire culture built around it? Because honor killings aren’t a Bad Things Happening that most people disagree with, they are an integral and enforced part of the culture. Like some of the Middle Eastern countries having it enshrined in law codex to execute gay people at worst and imprison them at best.
Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia. The kingdom does not have codified criminal laws.[10] According to the country’s interpretation of sharia, a married man who commits sodomy, or a non-Muslim who engages in sodomy with a Muslim, can be stoned to death.[14] There are unconfirmed reports that two cross-dressing Pakistani nationals were killed by Saudi authorities in 2017, which Saudi officials have denied.[10] Verified executions occurred in 2019.[16][17] Homosexuality in Saudi Arabia is proven by four eyewitnesses who have seen the penetration, or a self confession; if these conditions are not met they can not be stoned but can be given discretionary punishments like lashing and imprisonment.[18]
Sure. It just baffles me that people from such a heavily left-leaning community are so hellbent on swinging for a culture that makes your most conservative people look liberal by comparison.
When I point out that sexual assault victims aren’t only arrested in Arab countries, it happens, for example, in the US too. You take that as a prompt to say other bad things only happen in Middle Eastern countries. And those other bad things happen in the US too.
I hope you can actually recognize your bigotry and work on it.
Yeah I think there was misunderstanding. I actually wasn’t referring to that part, I was referring to your “casual racism” pointed at “Are they in some Arabian country?”. Basically I was saying your point doesn’t make sense because that Is reality and not some kind of untrue stereotype.
Woulda been a lot more useful to say those things, instead of a two-word quip that didn’t clarify anything at all. It would still be a bad point, but at least it would be coherent.
You’re a bigot making a bad faith argument, because the Plaa said “only place it happens is in some Arabian country”, I showed it happens in the US. You don’t care that my point makes sense. You just like being a bigot. And you shouldn’t. You don’t have to be one.
These characters could say “How do you feel about ordering Chinese takeout for dinner tonight?” and at least one person would act like that meant they’d ordered a massive feast, charged it to the one being asked, only ordered food that person didn’t like, and then ate the entire thing in front of them.
I’d probably look over, raise an eyebrow at most, and continue with my day. Like, it’s not that hard to not be affected by somebody yelling for two seconds.
Can’t forget those dirty fence-fucker centrists. Can’t be bothered to pick a side in any scenario, but they’ll sure never shut the fuck up about not having anything to say about anything.
Look, I just don’t think people need to raise their voices and use potty language when they’re being beaten by our increasingly militarised police force. If they’d done a peaceful protest instead of quietly sitting on a public bench and holding a piece of paper, they’d have all their bones still.
Man, that was an exceptionally *fast* example of Godwin’s Law.
Remind me of literally any Nazis in the comic? Y’can’t, because even the worst of the bad parents in the story aren’t Nazis.
Some of them are mob stooges, some of them reactionary Christian Conservative, but none of them are Nazis.
Incidentally, I wasn’t actually referring to background side character #937, but rather to the cast members… And Becky has been awful basically ever since the election campaign storyline terminated.
Where almost all of the characters have demonstrably grown as people? She’s getting worse as a person.
Honestly, I’m pretty sure that if I was walking along and heard a teenage girl in the middle of a gaggle of other teenagers abruptly scream, “I WANNA THROW YOU DOWN INTO THE SNOW AND SLAM MY FACE INTO YOUR COOCH”, my day would be VASTLY improved.
…ok, wait, it suddenly occurs to me how that comment might be very uncharitably misinterpreted. To be clear: my day would not be improved because I think I would be the recipient of said teenage cooch-slamming. I just mean that I like seeing random strangers be weird and loudly passionate about things in public. It makes the world seem like a much more open and permissive place!
Why is that a surprise? She was raised in a home that treated her like a person, allowed her to experience life and chase her passions, and loved her. Becky was raised in a religious prison cell and not allowed to experience anything her church and father didn’t directly approve of.
I’d have called Dina being more mature from a mile away.
I keep wondering about Bonnie (Becky’s mom) suiciding. Was it because she accepted Becky’s sexuality, and Ross couldn’t or wouldn’t? I have to think it was, given his bitter remark at the hospital about how Becky destroyed the family.
Truthfully it does seem odd that Becky hasn’t renounced her old church, given its very apparent attitude towards LBGQT. Then again, given it was all she was given as a kid, I suppose it makes some sense.
I always assumed she ended it because of depression or possibly realizing her whole world was a lie and couldn’t pivot to the alternative that life without magic sky wizard could be worth living, or even maybe that Thumbdad abused her secretly, but now that you are mentioning this, it is making me think you might have something there…
off topic, I read an article about how a lot of the newspaper conglomerates dropped practically all of the comic strips made by women. Does anyone know if Olivia Jaimes (Nancy) has something like a patreon?
It’s interesting I think that Becky probably positions herself as much more knowledgeable than Joyce when it comes to relationships and all. And I do think she is at certain points half a step ahead (she at least knew or at least acknowledged bi people existed during their tiff when Joyce got weird about Ruth dating a guy). But the gap in knowledge is really a lot smaller than she thinks.
Girl: you were raised in the same church and home school group.
Poor girl. She’s a bit fucked in the head. Thank (science?) for Dina.
Dina isn’t worried, because knows that she would thrive in prison. She’d shank any b*tch who tries to mess with her, and be universally feared and respected as Queen of the Cell Block within the first week. But it would interfere with her education in science if it happened right now, which is unacceptable. So she’ll just have to wait until she has her degree.
Most states in the US now have public indecency laws – the described act, regardless of consuality, would constitue a crime (often, but not always, a misdemeanor).
However, public indecency of *many* sorts may very well land you on the “sexual offender” list, which usually lasts a *very* long time. If a minor is somehow involved, even tangentially, things will get very bad very fast.
Let’s be careful out there.
Joe’s been respectful and *asked* Joyce a couple pages ago and she accepted it; they’re allowed to touch each other and he’s trying to change himself since he likes her so much.
I know Becky’s jealous of like EVERYTHING related to Joyce but Dina subverting that so Joyce can, you know, enjoy herself for a second with Joe in non-sexual touching, is like the best thing ever.
“I’m just going to say it, shame on any of us who throws a trans child under the bus for thinking they’re going to get elected. That child deserves our support. Don’t worry about the pollsters calling it distractions, because we need to be the party of human dignity.”
Minnesota Star Tribune@startribune.com ⋅ 18h
Gov. Tim Walz is doubling down on trans rights — and criticizing members of his party who are retreating — at a time when the issue has become a political lightning rod nationally and back home in Minnesota.
they managed to get the arms and thighs to be different grays, which I wasn't sure they'd be able to do, the way the mold's set up
though maybe they're just producing a lot of extra thighs and/or arms in the wrong colors and throwing those away, i dunno
Cops are overgrown children cosplaying War, with all the rest of us forced into their stupid, childish game without our consent, consuming vast funds from the public treasury and ruining lives by the hundreds of thousands.

Dina, her feelings are ALWAYS correct, even if they aren’t what you intend
(and are massively appreciative of)
Ah, right, she did ask “How does this make you feel?” She can’t really say that Becky is incorrect about that.

So much less sad than other universe Dina.
You got THE TOUCH…
You got THE POWER!!!!
YEEEEAAAAAH!!!
Ok, but which one is Optimus Prime?
Dina is clearly Grimlock.
Just as clearly, Mike is/was Prime in this scenario.
The real question is which one is Hot Rod/Rodimus? Joyce, Joe and Danny would all be viable candidates…
I’d say Danny is Hot Rod, and also I think Ethan is Ultra Magnus. (Which brings up a few… ideas… for some Transformers slashfic for Amber.)
Dina continues to be the best character by several orders of magnitude.
Agreed.
Seconded!
Indeed, seconding is the next order of magnitude in binary. However to hit “several orders” we’ll have to go a bit further:
Fourthed!
…
Following this, I’ve realized that when NGPZ wrote seconded, they meant fourthed, and I eighthed, which _should_ make this 16thed, except it’s uncouth to second one’s own comment and now I’ve made a terrible mess of things.

It’s a good thing that Becky removed Dorothy from the scene to make room for Dina.

YIPPPEEEEE!!!!! 🥰🦖

I mean, I probably should’ve guessed it was a thing, but now I know.
It’s basically the anniversary of the original games release in japan
Gamefreak uses it to announce bigger projects

Dina didn’t say no, so it is a possibility.
Dumbing of Age Book 14: A Narrative That Absolves You of Guilt

Dumbing of Age Book 14: I wanna throw you down in the snow an’ slam my face into your cooch
Figured I was too late to make that comment myself.
Dina continues to be the best and we are all blessed for having her.
Dang, Dina absolutely nailing it in every panel today.
Ironically, by refusing to.
Nailing Becky in almost every panel, too
Dina is very wise
Fuck yeah Dina calling out Becky’s bullshit in the most adorable way possible and wildly improving the situation!
(Also my brain automatically created Panel 2.5, “Faz perceives all such touches as sexual.”)
nice callback
Top of the callback charts, right there.
Faz has made a chart illustrating this callback’s position.
Right? Dina is so on point here
As always 🥰
I’m glad somebody actually will. Dorothy’s conviction that she can be patient enough to outlast Becky’s annoying rivalry is really getting on my nerves.

I don’t think Dorothy is as upset about it as you.
She never is. They never are, any of them.
And frankly, how dare they? Don’t they know they’re supposed to react to everything someone does as if it’s an intentional attack?
They should all be going to red all the time, like Walky in the Walkyverse.
If I were in any situation at all, I’d be immediately angry and probably violent about it. That’s not a personality problem, right?
Just ask yourself, What Would Dorothy Do?
Yeah, because she doesn’t have to real a daily comic strip with no punch line every time it happens.
None of us have to do that, either.
Babes, that IS the punchline. You just don’t like the joke.
Excellent job, Dina!
Hey, I can see Dina’s breath.
Which means I can assume she has not been assimilated by the Thing.
*actually, Childs’ breath is visible, it’s just that the resolution or whatever is poor, so people think he’s not breathing.*
Butts of jealousy.
That day shall not be today!
Is it just me or is something off with the noses today
One’s for showing!
One’s for blowing!
XD
I noticed that as well. Looking back at some recent strips, I think Dina’s nose is a bit longer than usual (thought still as sharp).
Also, behold with wonder: NGPZ has returned. Hi!
She gotz here a Hunter x Hunter nose!
Hehehe, I’ve been reading the comments but not replying.
Been busy with coding and stuff. At least I can enjoy Pokemon Day today! How you?

Joe’s skin color and Joyce’s hair color are so close, I thought his hand was her hair when this was a preview panel.
Isn’t that Becky’s hand on Joye’s shoulder?
Nope! Becks got mittens on.

And Joyce’s response basically confirms that she is low-key aware.
Also can we give it up for how Dina and Joe interact historically, in which Joe is not all hot and bothered by contact with her? I think she’ll be a great teacher for this exercise in assuaging his fears.
There was that one time Dina verbally explored a clinical examination of Joe and both he and Becky were blushing afterwards.
Liz, not Becky.
Ya, I know! But if I’m remembering correctly, they’ve had totally unbothered physical contact just from causal interactions, so there’s foundation.
It’s not Dina’s touch that gets Joe hot and bothered.
she would do science to him
Everyone in previous comment sections saying Carla is the best or Becky is the best, when the objective truth of the matter is that Dina is, and forever will be, the best.
Dina, the Most Sufferable in a sea of insufferableness.
I mean we don’t have to say it when isn’t on screen, it is a tacitly accepted fact.
Ye, I always thought she was just the default favorite. My all-time favorite shall always be Joyce tho!
Oh thank fucking god for Dina
When the student of science is ready, their mistress will appear
Damn, Dina, what a class act maneuver.
Dina demonstrates how Becky is far more likely than Joyce to interpret even the slightest touch as sexual.
I’m a little confused. How can Becky’s answer here be incorrect? She was asked how the touch makes her feel and answered (very) honestly?
Booster uses they/them pronouns. That’s the best I got.
Specifically it’s that Dina had not intended it to be a sexual touch, hence her point.
To prove that her perception of non-inherently-sexual touches is aligned with their intention.
that makes the null hypothesis incorrect.
I refuse your reality
The narrative is clearly that all lesbians want to eat cooch in the snow. It’s refreshing! And the cold provides a brisk juxtaposition to the natural umami!!
Did you just describe vaginas as fishy.
I can’t tell if you’re doing a bit, but none of those words mean “fishy”.
Fish is umami » umami is fishy.
lots of things are umami that are not fish.
Man, I love eating tomatoes for their fish-like flavor.
Look, it’s close enough for Jamie’s joke to work. S-K’s remark is pretty bold, too.
Also, potatoes are starchy, which is different from umami, actually. Except fried potatoes, I guess.
Oh, wait… you mean the red ones that are not potatoes.
It’s like the scene towards the end of season 3 of Community where they rescue the Dean, Jeff touches his shoulder, and he splooshes and then collapses.
Most of Becky and Dina’s interactions have that energy.
I love when Dinah showcases a level of awareness that she normally doesn’t.
I love when Dinah sings about the circus bear.
I wonder if Dina saw Joyce intending to non-sexually hug Dorothy, but being interpreted as sexual by Dorothy and Becky and Joe.
Dina got Becky to make a face that suggested a negative emotion. I think that earns her a merit badge or something.
Joe this entire time
o.o
“You can’t just give the game away, Becky! That’s like rule one of Sneaky Ninja Harlotry, or Sex Positivity like Roz calls it!”
She looks so grumpy for having her devious scheme exposed.
yunno kinda related to this strip, kinda not but the whole “Touch starved” Joe actually makes sense.
Sexual indecency
Becky isn’t saying “I want to force myself on you in a sexual assault” she’s saying “you touching me makes me want to have passionate sex right here and now”
And Dina is saying she doesn’t plan on going to jail for public indeceny or lewd conduct or what have you
The expression Dina is making has this “I’d love to but sadly it would be a terrible idea.”
Are you doing it on purpose?
What part of Becky’s statement implies a lack of consent? What part of her interactions with Dina have ever seemed like she didn’t care a great deal about how Dina felt and whether she was enjoying their time together?
Essentially: You good over there?
I see your casual racism. this is america
this is america
Honor killings
Oh, then I guess it doesn’t happen here. Bad things can only happen in one place, after all.
No, actually. I’m not saying that. The biggest clue was how I didn’t say that.
More racist tropes.
this is america
Also I’m not American so those links are meaningless to me.
You’re getting way too worked up about a simple thing, and it’s getting really silly at this point. Maybe tone it down with the anti-Arab stuff, too.
Sure. It just baffles me that people from such a heavily left-leaning community are so hellbent on swinging for a culture that makes your most conservative people look liberal by comparison.
bigot pretends to be baffled while making bad faith arguments and spouting bigotry.
What part of me talking about the insitutionalized persecution of gays and women in Muslim countries is not true?
Ah, nevermind, it’s not like I’d be a target anyway. I’m conceding I’m a terrible bigot and I’m backing out
When I point out that sexual assault victims aren’t only arrested in Arab countries, it happens, for example, in the US too.
@Taffy You are certainly right, I do have my issues with communication.
As everyone knows, asking for consent is a threat of assault. Clearly.
These characters could say “How do you feel about ordering Chinese takeout for dinner tonight?” and at least one person would act like that meant they’d ordered a massive feast, charged it to the one being asked, only ordered food that person didn’t like, and then ate the entire thing in front of them.
And Becky continues to demonstrate exactly why she is my 100% least favorite, and by far the most obnoxious, character around.
Imagine just being a random bystander when she starts shouting her head off…
I’d probably look over, raise an eyebrow at most, and continue with my day. Like, it’s not that hard to not be affected by somebody yelling for two seconds.
YOU KNOW WHO ELSE MAKES RANDOM BYSTANDERS UNCOMFORTABLE
MOTHERFUCKING NAZIS THAT’S WHO
Communists too
yeah but that’s cuz everyone knows they ought to be communists so it causes them cognitive dissonance when they meet one
Can’t forget those dirty fence-fucker centrists. Can’t be bothered to pick a side in any scenario, but they’ll sure never shut the fuck up about not having anything to say about anything.
reactionary centrists really do think doing half the number of ethnic cleansings the far-right wants is finding good middle ground.
Extremes are bad! The Everyone Gets a Kitten party is as bad as the Face-Eating Leopards party! i’m very smart and rational!
Look, I just don’t think people need to raise their voices and use potty language when they’re being beaten by our increasingly militarised police force. If they’d done a peaceful protest instead of quietly sitting on a public bench and holding a piece of paper, they’d have all their bones still.
I hate these filthy neutrals, kiff. With enemies, you know where you stand, but with neutrals? Who knows! It sickens me.
How do you feel about Mike?
A college student talking about sex on a college campus, oh my! how nefarious.
Talk about sex all you want.
Don’t be obnoxious in public.
There’s a difference between the two.
This is exactly why she’s one of my favorites, she’s fun as fuck
Eh, I don’t have to imagine it. I live in a big city and regularly walk places. Overhearing the most wild shit is normal.
Oh yeah, right, it’s Indiana. Pretty sure public face-in-cootch is a felony there.
Pretty sure public-face-in-cootch is illegal all over the place. Sex acts in public are kind of generally frowned on by the law.
Accurate
Kudos to them really. Not all asexual/allo couple works well like that even if they are mature adults.
Coming to the conclusion that of the Dina-Becky couple, Dina is the more mature one. People are full of surprises.
Not 100% sure but didn’t she have depression and Ross didn’t believe in any form of therapy besides pray it away?
I always assumed she ended it because of depression or possibly realizing her whole world was a lie and couldn’t pivot to the alternative that life without magic sky wizard could be worth living, or even maybe that Thumbdad abused her secretly, but now that you are mentioning this, it is making me think you might have something there…
Dina was always a super mature character?
Well, she IS the oldest one in their friend group, besides Sarah.
Dina was behind the cop car door the whole time
off topic, I read an article about how a lot of the newspaper conglomerates dropped practically all of the comic strips made by women. Does anyone know if Olivia Jaimes (Nancy) has something like a patreon?
A nice reminder that Joe and Joyce aren’t the only adorable dorks in love in this strip.
I mean, yeah, being starved of touch doesn’t mean you would then gorge on touching/being touched like it’s a touch buffet.
But today IS Tueday
I would and have
It’s interesting I think that Becky probably positions herself as much more knowledgeable than Joyce when it comes to relationships and all.
Thank (science?) for Dina.
exhibitionism? okay
getting arrested during naughty times? okay
having previously scheduled events interrupted? absolutely not
I love the implication that Dina wouldn’t mind getting arrested for this assuming it wouldn’t interrupt her other activities
She could always pull Megamind and break out with her scientific knowledge
I’d believe she considered Megamind an inspiration, but this far into her education she may as well have the paper to frame on her cell wall
She’s incredibly good at opsec. No one will ever notice that she, in fact, wants to throw Dina on the giant dinosaur plushie
I missed these two
Same
Most states in the US now have public indecency laws – the described act, regardless of consuality, would constitue a crime (often, but not always, a misdemeanor).
However, public indecency of *many* sorts may very well land you on the “sexual offender” list, which usually lasts a *very* long time. If a minor is somehow involved, even tangentially, things will get very bad very fast.
Let’s be careful out there.
Thank god for Dina.
Joe’s been respectful and *asked* Joyce a couple pages ago and she accepted it; they’re allowed to touch each other and he’s trying to change himself since he likes her so much.
I know Becky’s jealous of like EVERYTHING related to Joyce but Dina subverting that so Joyce can, you know, enjoy herself for a second with Joe in non-sexual touching, is like the best thing ever.
yes, Becky is the one jealous of Joe here. Yes. Becky.
Becky, the one suggesting Joyce get all up on that large mountain of man. Is the one. Policing Joe. Becky is doing that.
Not sure if Becky’s statment will be the next title of the next book.
Let hope so
i love becky
Dina continues to be the best
