This may be the DOA strip I relate to most. Any arguments me and my girlfriend have ever had start out reasoned and intelligent like two adults talking, then end up as two little kids bickering.
Know that scene from the first TMNT movie where Donatello and Casey Jones come up with immature insults for each other (like “Elf Lips”) alphabetically? We are basically that.
I must sa, nerdy of me thouh it be, I like how Danny mentioned it oing supercritical (the state where a reactor is unstable and oin to meltdown) rathe than just critical (the state where its generating more energy than is being used to run it).
hahaha and here I was trying to figure out what it meant for maturity to be in a simultaneous gas/liquid state (which might say something about my specialization).
Technically, “critical” is when a reaction produces as much energy (or fuel depending on the context) as it needs to continue. “Supercritical” is when it produces more energy than it needs, and “subcritical” is when it produces less energy than it needs. In this case, the maturity reaction is unstable.
I’m not sure how maturity reactions are supposed to progress, but it’s possible that, upon entering a room full of Dorothy and Danny, Walky’s maturity caused the room to go supercritical, exhaust it’s immediate maturity supply, and reverse into an immaturity reaction.

Panel 3 gives me a lot of hope for Dorothy. Maybe she’ll tell Danny if she had been honest they could ended things on better terms and even be really good friends by now. *fingers crossed*
Then Danny can be like, “Sorry I was smothering you. Being as enamored with you as I was, I should have known what your priorities were and supported you more.”
Friendship hug, Danny waves as Dorothy leaves with Walky with a smile on his face and his heart considerably more healed.
“Danny, I’m sorry I wasn’t honest about why I dumped you. It wasn’t that I’ll be leaving for another college soon, or even because you annoyed my in that moment by implying you wanted me to give up my dreams. I was actually already planning to dump you, and the reason for it was that you’re a simpering codependent wimp with no backbone and no plans for your life. Though on reflection I find that I like Walky when I can push him around and he’s got fewer plans than the shoes I’m trying to borrow, so the really truth of it is even simpler: I don’t find you sexy anymore. Sorry. Um, so does that make you happier now?”

John Redcorn was pretty much the only contemporary Native representation I had in comedy growing up. Probably the funniest Native character in cartoon history and a lot of that was on Jonathan Joss' pitch perfect rezzy uncle performance. RIP to one of the best to ever do it.
