Yes, it were. That there’s supposed to be spelled g-o-a-n-i-n plus one o’ them lil things what tells you there’s a letter missin’. But keep tryin’, ‘n you goan get it riaght.
If I had a nickel for every time I was in a dorm room back in college and drank a shot from a glass pilfered from one of the dining halls…I’d have about three or four bucks. That still adds up to plenty of times waking up on the floor and wondering which dorm I was in and where my shirt went…the former always got a quick answer by standing up and smacking somebody in a bunk and recognizing which of my friends rolled over to glare at me with half opened bloodshot eyes, and the latter typically ended with something along the lines of “I think one of the girls left wearing it like a dress just before dawn.”
Side note @Kernanator: consider yourself a savior of literature. My college library once put out stacks and stacks of books labeled for being discarded and said anybody that wanted them could take them. I managed to carry off a little over a dozen. I donated most of them to my old high school but I’m pretty sure at least two are still amongst the small library that I have stored back in my dad’s attic…now I’m gonna have to go back there so I can remember which ones I kept (never did get around to reading them, but throwing away a good book oughta be a sin).
I think it’s been established Joe was debauching himself last night. Even super-heroines need a chance to get rid of some of their bauch from time to time.
I suspect it’s more a case of he was so desperate for the chance he sees in Joyce that Ethan’s willing to chuck everything for this chance to be ‘normal.’ Now he’s running like hell before Amber raises any of the questions Ethan’s trying not to ask himself.
That’s the way he rolls. Every panel of every strip is completely recolored (not counting stock backgrounds), even when the line art is copied and pasted.
I’d be cutting and pasting at least three layers simultaneously (line art, flats, shading), and that can be hell to line up perfectly, so it’s simpler for me to just color it three times.
Huh. I’d have thought you could just select the layers as a unit and then copy and reposition them together. Of course, I have no idea what software you’re using.
No disrespect, but this feels like a lazy holiday filler comic. Honestly, I’d rather you take a brief vacation than put out a series of filler shots. If other people disagree, I’m ok with that. I just like DOA when it’s operating at full capacity.
1) It is impossible to use the phrase “lazy” or “filler” in this context without being a huge dickwad. Don’t say “no disrespect” and then shit all over me.
2) I have a fucking four week buffer. This strip was drawn in November.
4) Do you want to see what I drew when I was marathoning a week of strips two days ago in order to keep a respectable buffer when I return home in January?
Wow, I think this is the first time Ive seen Dave lose his shit. Willis is one of the few webcomic artists with such a high work ethic, so Id recommend not getting on his case, especially during the holidays.
It was, in fact, Deli & Grill guy in the background who asked Ethan about his new friend, while Amber stands there smiling until she notices Ethan about to leave with glassware.
Deli & Grill Guy likes to take an active interest in his customers’ social lives. He considers it just another part of the excellent service that Deli & Grill provides.
Did you also read Rommies, It’s Walky!, and Joyce and Walky? A lot of these characters are ported over from these earlier strips (also amazing). Dumbing of Age (DoA) universe is alternate and or parallel to the original strip. If something doesn’t make sense it is probably a reference to the earlier continuum.
… Have a fun weekend!
PS When I first found “It’s Walky” I went to bed at about 5 am after an hour of having trouble focusing on the screen. Same thing happened with “Girl Genius”.
Yeah I haven’t seen the early strips which explains why i didn’t get some of the references. I just picked this up from questionable content and decided to try it out. I’ll be sure to check out those other comics though. Thanks!
QC is awesome too. Started reading it about the same time I started reading Willis’s stuff. OOTS (where my avatar is from) was my first regular webcomic.. it is wonderful. Oh wait.. XKCD. Ok, second webcomic. First with plot anyway. Welcome to the community!

I ship CerealxDinobot
I second this ship
Ethan’s a rebel.
Without a cause.
Oh, he has cause all right, at the moment, anyway.
Eeeeethan, you’ve got some ‘splainin to doooooo.
Ethan’s closet has a sliding glass door.
Which matches the glass panels.
No, it’s a revolving door.
He’s always coming and goning.
Mike Came and Left on your mom.
Is goning like boning, but with more gonads?
Err yeah… that right, it totally wasn’t a spelling error at all.
Yes, it were. That there’s supposed to be spelled g-o-a-n-i-n plus one o’ them lil things what tells you there’s a letter missin’. But keep tryin’, ‘n you goan get it riaght.
I used to steal the silverware from my college dining hall. I still have so many plates from that place.
We used to steal the trays. They made great improvised sleds when it snowed.
I have SO many books from my high school library.
I have so many books from schools I legit forgot to return. Most of them were marked to be discarded, though, so it’s mostly okay.
4 naughty kids added to the list.
Santa, you got one WEIRD gravatar.
Tried that once. Didn’t work cuz the snow was too powdery and we didn’t have a good hill.

Halt, criminal scum.
Evil Brand Condoms: Halt Criminal’s cum.
I’m not sure whether to praise you or punch you for that.
Amazigirl should go get him, it’s a shame no one knows who she is
I think it’s been established Joe was debauching himself last night. Even super-heroines need a chance to get rid of some of their bauch from time to time.
With the current storyline happening there, I think AmaziGirl is Leslie from Shortpacked
Given the month buffer on DoA!, that would be awesome. The planning! The timing!
Run, Ethan, run like your life depends on it!
/headdesk
Oh, Ethan.
He didn’t really think this through, did he?
I suspect it’s more a case of he was so desperate for the chance he sees in Joyce that Ethan’s willing to chuck everything for this chance to be ‘normal.’ Now he’s running like hell before Amber raises any of the questions Ethan’s trying not to ask himself.
Ethan – Being hardcore so you don’t have to.
i just went through every single comic…
Having a “Angriest Dog In The World” moment today, aren’t you, Willis?
NO ETHAN! The glassware! It can’t cross the seal!
If it does, the entire cafeteria will collapse on itself!
Ilsa…nooooooo!
If you look close, you can tell that Willis drew each Amber – no cutting and pasting. That’s commitment!
I think there was some cutting and pasting.
It looks like the outlines are identical in the second and third panel (but positioned slightly differently) but the coloring was redone in each one.
That’s the way he rolls. Every panel of every strip is completely recolored (not counting stock backgrounds), even when the line art is copied and pasted.
I have no idea why he does it this way.

3) Fuck you, asshole.
4) Do you want to see what I drew when I was marathoning a week of strips two days ago in order to keep a respectable buffer when I return home in January?
http://itswalky.tumblr.com/post/38241707102/of-course-the-day-i-need-to-marathon-a-week-of
Bam.
I came here to California with busted, achey hands because I was drawing shit like that for 48 hours straight.
That panel’s from a strip in mid-January, by the way.
I will cut you.
Mic drop
The “you” has been dropped from “DAMN YOU WILLIS!”
Now would you like some ointment for the wicked burn???
…

Oh no! Another brave soul has fallen. …

You just doomed the poor guy to a life of webcomic addiction. Why don’t you point him to OotS and erfwold too while you are at it?
