I’m trying to imagine the sequence of events that lead to Joyce being allowed to touch the helmet. (Or was it, the helmet being slammed onto her head to close her in/shut her up?)
I would tend to lean to the “Helmet slammed on to shut her up.”
Or sal might still have that nice side we saw in the very early stories in the walkyverse.
I dunno know why, but everytime I imagine those three making out, I smile. Nothing but humor gets me to smile randomly like that. Ever. I sincerely think I like it a little TOO much. XD
Random sporadic bad fanfic piece by myself! Kind of platonic-ish though. Might write more later or something and might turn into shippy stuff later:
—
“Whose fault is that?” she asked, the question coming across more bitterly than she intended, somewhat ruining her earlier nonchalant act. She heard her brother say something about stamps within his cop-out of an excuse but she ignored him. It didn’t seem to be worth the effort.
From behind however she heard the Joyce girl make noises as she continued to play make believe, pretending she was riding her motorcycle after Sal had told her she could mess with the helmet but not the bike.
“Knock yourself out. Just don’t mess it up blue eyes, ya here?” she’d said. She wasn’t sure why, but the girl’s upset expression when she’d denied her the opportunity of touching her motorcycle annoyed her, resulting in that alternative offer. Sal would stick to her guns but she wasn’t made of stone, much as she’d like to have been.
However as Sal stopped for a second to stub out her cigarette on the pavement, she couldn’t help but smile a little.
She was a cute girl after all, almost endearing in her naivity and child-like wonderment. It was too early to tell and she didn’t really know her, but maybe she wouldn’t be too much of a pain to hang around with. She just needed someone to show her the ropes and a bit of the real world.
Who knew? It might be fun.
Maybe she’d have even more fun if she got to ride as a passenger.
—
I really like how Mr. Willis did the reflection off the helmet it makes it look like Joyce is smiling through the helmet. Well done good sir, well done…
I imagine Mike is nonplussed at the family drama — it’s a little much to learn about your roommate. Also, if Sal had been shipped off to a boarding school to curb wild tendencies, well, what if it HAD worked, and her addictions to nicotine and two wheeled performance vehicles were her only vices left? And postage hasn’t ridden much at all when you compare it to inflation (just ask my fountain pen penpalling friends — they’re hardcore!).
Hah, so Billie is human afterall… After all the “We don’t know each other here” and “We’re not in the same social circle” she too goes a bit sour when her ONLY friend (childhood or not) is there and NOT paying attention to her.
s: Ugh, I feel awful but I think I’ma take Sal’s side on this: Walky could probably put a bit ore effort…if he told his parents it was to write to his twin sister I’m sure they woulda spared him money for stamps, envelops, paper, etc…
I was thinking maybe they wouldn’t have computers/ technology/ etc. in Catholic school but then I realized as I read your comment that that’s the Amish (spelled right?) and I used to work in a church an my main job was to watch over kids as they were on the church’s computers!! Wow, my memory SUCKS.@_@
I think Joyce has become that character that I will ship with all the other girl characters. Or she will be. Billie, Sal. Who will be next for SS. Joyce femmeslash?
That’s actually a fairly awesome suggestion- she might be a teacher in this, (but since when has that stopped people), but Leslie is simply great in general. Plus the slightly-bitter-over-this woman who was messed around by her parents attitudes to her orientation and christianity, getting some closure from a spirited christian girl who needs a bit of a reality check in some areas but overall somehow grows on you and is way too hard to hate for long if you ever do?
I like. They both get something out of it.
-Looks to R and uhh… anyone else here who possibly writes fanfic or is thinking of doing so-
Actually now that I think on it, almost any female character shipped so far gets and gives something in return for Joyce (potentially). For Sal she can perhaps get some childlike fun or whatever- and protect Joyce while ‘showing her the ropes’ and how the world works. Leslie gets the christianity-issues closure and could open Joyce’s eyes to how her particular religion (or sect) can have some unfair stupid stuff and undergo growth from there. (Though I guess being with a girl in general, that could happen with Joyce.)
Billie is arguable of course but in a way her being a bongo and Joyce perhaps being ‘too nice’ (?) means they could meet somewhere in the middle. Possibly. Plus Billie does have some insecurities to work through.
Shipping the Billie/Joyce/Sal triangle has potential. (Sal would probably win). Having a threesome would be great though and the interactions would be hilarious.
I think overall so far, the idea of Sal/Joyce is my favourite. But Joyce would fit with a lot of girls actually.
Leslie/Joyce? Very interesting. Leslie grew up religious like Joyce did, they have that in common, but Leslie was able to come out and break out of the shell that her previous beliefs had enclosed her in. She could show Joyce the way, plus extra-hotness for it being a forbidden teacher/student relationship…
Since I’m not Catholic, I’m not sure on how much internet would be allowed into Catholic schools, even if you install those no-bypass filters which keep the “wretched hives of scum and villainy” out.
I was hoping that in this strip, Sal grabs Joyce and plants a kiss on her lips, then lets go of her. Joyce meanwhile completely taken aback, shocked, surprised, and a bit excited just collapses on the floor. Meanwhile, Sal proceeds to go to her class.
Dude! You can’t do that! Taking a helmet off someones motorcycle is equivalent to breaking & entering/theft – no different than if you did it to a car! Let’s have some proper motorcycle etiquette, please!
I’m willing to bet Sal stuck it on her head to shut her up, or let her try it on to be nice to her… we don’t know enough about Sal to know for sure… other than
i can really see a future mike x billie – in which he chips away at the ‘badass’ front shes put up, and reveals the insecurities that make her act like such a douche
also, i hope sal stays aloof/oblivious to joyce’s admiration (instead of being mean to her)
Joyce is adorable.
Also, can you smoke in classrooms?
Yes, if you’re talking purely about ability vs. permission…
Normally, no. But Sal can.
She could break through a window to let the smoke out if they complain.
She could break a wall to make a window that she would then break to let the smoke out. Because Sal is that awesome.
And she would do it with her nose.
Because Sal is that awesome.
You guys didn’t leave much space for others to go deeper.
her nose hair. because sal is that awesome
Actually, she would do it with YOUR nose,
Because Sal is that awesome.
(And somewhere, Chuck Norris is waving his hands frantically; “Hey! I’M awesome!”)
Every night, Chuck Norris, trembling in terror and anticipation, checks his closet for Sal.
What class is she taking? Auto mechanics?
Calculus
Pure badassery 101
She taught that course, what are you talking about?
I’m trying to imagine the sequence of events that lead to Joyce being allowed to touch the helmet. (Or was it, the helmet being slammed onto her head to close her in/shut her up?)
I’m guessing that Sal just is not mean enough to feel the need to deny her a chance to wear the helmet, but that might just be me being hopeful…
“Here, take care of mah helmet until after school.”
I would tend to lean to the “Helmet slammed on to shut her up.”
Or sal might still have that nice side we saw in the very early stories in the walkyverse.
Aw, Joyce looks so silly and cute in the last panel. ^^
No, Joyce, the bike is behind you…
GRAND THEFT MOTORCYCLE!
My thoughts exactly. Joyce, you CAN see out of the helmet…
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
VAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Femurs?
No its
Summary of DoA so far:
Femurs
FAAAAAAAAACEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL
VAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Get it in order…
Oh, goddess of light and love…Joyce is adorable.
(And this isn’t helping my budding desire to ‘ship Joyce/Sal)
And Billie. Don’t forget Billie.
I dunno know why, but everytime I imagine those three making out, I smile. Nothing but humor gets me to smile randomly like that. Ever. I sincerely think I like it a little TOO much. XD
…. Best… Ship… EVAR!
Must now worship this. And /r/ R to write such.
DAMN YOU!!!!
BTW, that’s because you beat me to the avatar.
Agreed! Sal could be all amused and offer to let Joyce rid the motorcycle, and things could go from there.
I’m not writing anymore fanfic though. I’ve got too much going on irl.
ride not rid, guh, tired, interview tomorrow early AM then work in the afternoon/evening, gotta find all of my printed out resumes and the like. x.X

Five years and she’s got a heavy, southern drawl.
Hawt.
That’s not Joyce!
That’s the Head Alien, disguised as Joyce!
Can’t unsee!
Joyce is the only character who looks happy in this strip. And you can’t even see her face. VROOOOOM!
Walky doesn’t seem to be too upset at his sister’s lack of communication.
But you’re right. Everyone’s eyebrows (‘cept for Walky and Joyce, whose eyebrows we cannot see) are 180 degrees!
And now Joyce is going to be late to class and hated by her math teacher for the rest of the school year
You don’t get hated by your teacher for being late on the first day in college. Everyone is late on the first day.
I was hated by my chem teacher because I was late on the first day…
I really like how Mr. Willis did the reflection off the helmet it makes it look like Joyce is smiling through the helmet. Well done good sir, well done…
Joyce is secretly a rebel….. varrrooom!
Sal is bitter. Billie is bitter. Walky feels guilty. Mike is lurkin. Joyce is rebelling against The Man.
DRAMAAAAAAA!!!
In the FAAAAAAACE!
This is what happens when Robin pulls Drama Tags in toy stores.
She unwittingly unleashed some Serious Business in the DoA-verse!
The Drama Tag has some creepy multi-dimensionnal mojo going on. Like the Walky Multiverse version of Vector Sigma or the Matrix o.o
Or maybe Mike’s sheer prescence just makes people angry. Must be the pheromone.
Vroom…vroom…i miss my bike
On the plus side, Joyce is adorable.
Say it with me here: DAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW.
In the FAAAAACE!
Varoooooooooooooooooom!
Pouty Billie is Pouty.
Joyce however, is ADORABLE. I can imagine the goofy grin she has her face right now.
I imagine her lips are puckered, making the VROOM sounds.
I just found my new avatar!
Never mind, Rust_Unicorn got to it first.
I changed my mind (and enjoy talking to myself).
i broke your line of self talking
But I was just about to have a third crazy personality join the discussion. And maybe even add a 4th (making it a orgy of talking to myself).
That was a total combo-breaker
Very nice, but I’m gonna stick with mine for now until something more epic comes along.
I also like to change my mind at a moment’s notice. Because Emo! Robin is awesome.
I think I’m going to go annoy other people now.
Joyce is completely adorable. xD
Billie is clearly the most angry about Joyce getting to wear the PrissHelmet.
This is why I’m so fond of Joyce! xD
Hah, so Billie is human afterall… After all the “We don’t know each other here” and “We’re not in the same social circle” she too goes a bit sour when her ONLY friend (childhood or not) is there and NOT paying attention to her.

Darn avvi trouble! :s
“if he told his parents it was to write to his twin sister I’m sure they woulda spared him money for stamps, envelops, paper, etc…”
Or he could’ve just sent her an email. These days, postage prices are just about the lamest imaginable excuse for not staying in touch.
That is the whole point. That it’s a lame excuse.
*facepalm* D’oh! Theres that, too!
I was thinking maybe they wouldn’t have computers/ technology/ etc. in Catholic school but then I realized as I read your comment that that’s the Amish (spelled right?) and I used to work in a church an my main job was to watch over kids as they were on the church’s computers!! Ha ha! Walky’s shoelaces!
I think Joyce has become that character that I will ship with all the other girl characters. Or she will be. Billie, Sal. Who will be next for SS. Joyce femmeslash?
Leslie! Ship Joyce with Leslie.

Fanfic writers! AWAY!
-Disappears-

Duh.
Looks at post
…
Dear GOD do I blather on.
This folks, is a very real real danger in shipping.
I so want to write it now!
lol, postage…no internets in the new walkyverse?
Since I’m not Catholic, I’m not sure on how much internet would be allowed into Catholic schools, even if you install those no-bypass filters which keep the “wretched hives of scum and villainy” out.
Uh, yes, this could be genuinely funny, but in actuality it looks as if Joyce tried to grab the wheel but missed?
Considering the bike’s behind her at a right angle, methinkest not.
I was hoping that in this strip, Sal grabs Joyce and plants a kiss on her lips, then lets go of her. Joyce meanwhile completely taken aback, shocked, surprised, and a bit excited just collapses on the floor. Meanwhile, Sal proceeds to go to her class.
Must now /r/ Willis to draw that. That would be so amazingly hot/cute.
Joyce = Awwwwwww….
Dude! You can’t do that! Taking a helmet off someones motorcycle is equivalent to breaking & entering/theft – no different than if you did it to a car! Let’s have some proper motorcycle etiquette, please!
I’m willing to bet Sal stuck it on her head to shut her up, or let her try it on to be nice to her… we don’t know enough about Sal to know for sure… other than
*SPOILERS*
She held up two stores…
Sal realizes that she, too, has the ability to write letters, yes? Or use a phone? Or send an email in this oh-so-advanced technological era of ours.
ALSO I love Walky’s untied shoelaces.
So Walky didn’t bother to talk to Sal the whole time she was away? That’s kinda harsh.
Oh Joyce… thank you for taking an awkward moment and replacing it with adorableness.
Awwwwwww…. Joyce is pulling something I’d expect form my infant brother. How cuuuuuuute.
Did I fix my avatar finally? I do believe yes.
Dammit!
If I remember right, back in Roomies, Joyce met Danny in a math class. Hmm… food for thought.
D= NO.
‘Ai know what you’re gettin’ at an’ NO, GEWD LORD ‘N HEAVEN PLEASE NO.
I detest Danny plain-as-a-glass-of-milk! He’d jus’ lead Joyce on!!
Please don’t do it, Mr. Willis!
i can really see a future mike x billie – in which he chips away at the ‘badass’ front shes put up, and reveals the insecurities that make her act like such a douche
also, i hope sal stays aloof/oblivious to joyce’s admiration (instead of being mean to her)
“Rising cost of postage”? I take it this universe doesn’t have email and/or the Internet?
That would make DoA’s Twitter be all phone-based, I guess . . .
And would make for an AWESOME “subtle” commentary on the influence of the sucess of the Internet on modern society. O_O
It does, actually. Amber’s seen carrying a laptop earlier, and Joyce, Joyce’s parents, and Becky talk about facebook and the internet at the start.
sweet mr. jebus Joyce is cute O.O
i was gonna say “it would make more sense for your to be ON the motorcycle” but thought that was mean since she is so cute :3
I think that the motorcycle helmet fits her head very nicely. No hat hair.
Well well that’s a nice looking bunch of gentlemen we got going here :p
How does she know they have the same class?
Oh Joyce. XD This is why I love you.
i never got the accents till now 0-0
Joyce makes me smile.
vroom vrrooooooom
so perfect
