Yeah, thats what I get for coming so late and being so flacid and not ballsy enough… At least its not as sticky mess of a situation Billie is in, or Jacob wants to be…. Penis joke…
Do you just want the audience to hate Danny then, Willis? Is that your plan? Was Danny supposed to be the one that died in that car crash and Ruth was supposed to marry Billie? Have I figured it out, Willis?
I actually like Danny. It’s everybody else that paints him as a moron. Well he is dense, but likable characters have been dense. Really, it’s Willis ultimately controlling Danny’s image so if he really hated how Danny was originally portrayed in Roomies and has decided as payback to deal it on him with Dumbing of Age, what can I do about it. I’ll just have to try to like him with what I am given.
Danny’s actually much more likable in DoA than in Roomies. Which doesn’t make him likable but is a massive step up.
Granted, as far as I’ve read nobody is really likable in Roomies yet. The stories are somewhat interesting but it’s like it’s afraid of it’s own potential.
I like Joyce, in spite of disagreeing with her on everything she thinks and does. I like Sarah: I think she’s recovering from being hurt, and I sympathise. I quite like Dorothy and Walky. Joe I feel I don’t know all that well yet, but he seems
i hereby declare danny my favorite character. he’s a neat guy. doesn’t cause trouble, is a little dim, but is well meaning and honestly tries his best. danny is my new favorite character!
This just strengthens my feeling that Danny doesn’t think of Amazi-Girl as a real girl in a costume, he thinks of her as a character in a story. In a story, someone would be in trouble, and she would heroically rescue them. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Danny, Joe is moving on to better friends, I’m sorry you had to learn of it this way but at least you’ve got Amber until she raises her standards, right?
I had a friend in elementary school that I honestly thought was a dick, which I really didn’t like. However he was the only person at that school I could really call a friend I had at school so I hung out with him, and I still generally liked the guy. I assume it’s the same with Joe and Danny. They’re friends, but it doesn’t mean they have to like everything about them.
That would fit Danny, but I still don’t understand Joe. Seems like he’s the type that’d have a lot of friends. Unless he was totally different growing up.
I feel your pain so much. Ya, my name here, that’s my actual first name. It’s Lithuanian and it has a weird pronounciation ( Like the “r us” in ToysRus” You have to roll the “r” for it to sound right). No one that is not Lithuanian can pronounce it well, so I got kids calling me Arr-ass, emphasis on ass, in elementary school. That was not fun.
I’m currently torn between “I wish Jacob could get to be part of the storyline” and “I hope Jacob just keeps appearing in the background of comics being amazing hot for no reason”.
Honestly, I just don’t want him to get involved because SP!Jacob has a whole lot of shit going on that needs resolving and I don’t want it to happen too swiftly so he can be written out.
Same reason I’m fine with the sidelining of DOA!Roz, even though I like her more than her Walkyverse counterpart.
On the plus side, though; for an entire year, you are not allowed to create suspense via weekend breaks because, as per the agreement with Kickstarter, YOU GET NO WEEKEND BREAKS MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! >:D
Well Jacob has barely appeared in DoA. (Only 1 other strip assuming the tags are all correct.) I don’t think any of the other characters are as different in age as these two were in SP. SP-Joe is like 30- or even 40- something, whereas SP-Jacob is like 17 or so? Can’t think of anyone else whose age change that dramatically between strips. Maybe Leslie? Though I had some pretty young professors in school. I guess Robin might be a bit older than her SP-counterpart. But mostly they all seem to be with a few years of each other in both cases.
Sniffing glue =/= eating paste. Paste is non-toxic (which is why they let elementary students use it). Sniffing glue can be harmful or even fatal depending on type and dosage. Drugs’r’bad, m’kay?
I’d argue the converse. Walkyverse Danny got some fairly crap characterization leaving him bland next to Ruth, Joyce, Joe and even Howard. DoA Danny is slowly becoming Roomies era Walkyverse Joyce, who I’ve personally always detested (she grew on me later, after joining SEMME)
Yeah, Walkyverse Danny was pretty much the Generic Guy, who also had a tendency to be a major tool. DoA Danny is now shedding his Generic Guy status… leaving him a major tool.
Looks like Jacob’s about to get a speakin’ part!
That’s another fairly interesting thing about DoA — getting to see how characters who weren’t in Roomies or It’s Walky and who haven’t gotten flashbacks in Shortpacked were in their youth.
LOL
It always strikes me extremely strange how someone can put on a costume,.. be around people who know them and not be recognized by body language scent or speech,… it why I still laugh at an investigative reporter like lois lane,.,..
Outside of that:
this is getting good. How are they NOT going to be found by Firemen?
They probably don’t check every room. Though they could probably figure out which alarm was pulled easily enough, and from there it’s just a matter of noticing that one of the doors has been kicked in… Yeah, they should hide in another room if they’re smart.
I never ate paste.
Come to think of it, no one I know has ever actually eaten paste. Mostly because quite a few of us could read, and on the glue bottle it read “DO NOT EAT, YOU WILL DIE. THANK YOU AND BUY ANOTHER ONE OF OUR PRODUCTS!”
Most paste is non-toxic, especially the kind they let kids use in elementary school. (Maybe not high school…) You could down an entire bottle of Elmer’s without too much ill effect. Epoxy on the other hand…
I enjoy how Jacob is taking this rather blankly XD
Its cause hes trying to keep his cool while considering what Joe means by “eating paste.”
Danny! How dare you keep us from the lesbians. Shame on you!
Danny Wilcox Ruins everything.
God, fuck you Danny!
Damn you, Wilcox!
that explains soo much about both of them
What?! Is there something wrong with paste? I love paste!
Appropriate Gravatar for this statement
How much you wanna bet the paste Danny ate wasn’t nontoxic?
Wondering how Joe knows Jacob…
Maybe they just met just now perhaps?
Maybe. I’ve still got my money on “the other party in that threesome Joe couldn’t quite remember”, though.
He met him after the threesome with Ethan and Joyce. They didn’t realise Jacob was in the room until they were done.
They met at the “Tall, Dark, and Handsome Meetup group”, DUH!
More like Sex Addicts Anonymous?
[the one where they all exchange fistbumps, I guess]
Man paste?
Dirty. I like it.
I think in double entendres.
Gave me some fun mental images.
That must make a lot of things hard. Math would be easy though.
Hard: Giggity. Math: Huh?
Hopefully not in kindergarden though… even for Willis, that would be a dark turn.
I have to agree with you there, that might be just a tad too dark… and ickky.
And yet there will be porn made of it, thus is the way of the internet.
Dumbing of Age Babies: The Adult Version. O_O
DAMMIT PLASMA! I come here to arouse some laughter and see you’ve already sucked up all the attention! I’ve made such a boner!
You snooze, you lose!
Perhaps it’s a challenge? Is anyone strong enough to like Danny?
I actually like Danny. It’s everybody else that paints him as a moron. Well he is dense, but likable characters have been dense. Really, it’s Willis ultimately controlling Danny’s image so if he really hated how Danny was originally portrayed in Roomies and has decided as payback to deal it on him with Dumbing of Age, what can I do about it. Granted, as far as I’ve read nobody is really likable in Roomies yet. The stories are somewhat interesting but it’s like it’s afraid of it’s own potential.
I like Joe…almost moreso.
I like Joyce, in spite of disagreeing with her on everything she thinks and does. I like Sarah: I think she’s recovering from being hurt, and I sympathise. I quite like Dorothy and Walky. Joe I feel I don’t know all that well yet, but he seems
I don’t like either Danny or Ethan at all.
I like lots of people in DoA, it’s in Roomies where they aren’t really likable to me.
I know that you generally draw yourself with much darker hair, but is that a Willis-cameo in the green hoodie in the background of panel 2?
Kind of looks like this guy. Whoever that is.
The first thought I had was Rule 63 Joyce.
I thought that was one of Joyce’s MANY brothers.
It’s Shaggy from Scooby Doo. I’m guessing he’s visiting Velma rather than attending college as a student.
IIRC, we’ve been said that Joyce has just two brothers in this universe…
Truly Willis is the Hitchcock of Webcomics.
I wish my jaw was that square.
What are talking about, Hitchcock’s chin was as round as the moon!
I believe Willis was refering to the 2nd panel background guy wearing dark green.
I know, but still, it’s easy to pick on dead people, no guilt. Unless they died a horribly tragic death, which the joke relates to.
And as we all know, Hitchcock died when he stubbed his chin on the moon. Way to go Aras, real sensitive.
you know what? no. i will not stand for this.
i hereby declare danny my favorite character. he’s a neat guy. doesn’t cause trouble, is a little dim, but is well meaning and honestly tries his best. danny is my new favorite character!
… after dina…
Willis: “Just As Planned!”
What does Danny think Amazi-Girl would even do in a dorm fire aside from get arrested for getting in the way and endangering lives?
You assume Danny is even thinking.
How cute.
Well, he had to be doing something on the way over, he ran quite far.
Doesn’t running count as “something”?
He was thinking of the Amazi-Rack.
He, like many of us, has been sucked into its gravitational pull.
The daring fire rescue is a pretty standard superhero scenario.
Okay, seriously, why are Joe and Danny friends? Is it just inertia or what?
Because they were friends in Roomies? Granted, they had nothing in common and haven’t seemed to get along even then either. So I got nothing.
They both liked eating glue-paste, isn’t that enough of a bond?
I had a friend in elementary school that I honestly thought was a dick, which I really didn’t like. However he was the only person at that school I could really call a friend I had at school so I hung out with him, and I still generally liked the guy. I assume it’s the same with Joe and Danny. They’re friends, but it doesn’t mean they have to like everything about them.
That would fit Danny, but I still don’t understand Joe. Seems like he’s the type that’d have a lot of friends. Unless he was totally different growing up.
Joe keeps Danny around so he can talk shit about him with cooler friends.
Jacob, please stop staring into my soul, you’re making me blush.
Is this the beginnings of the USS Kerncob?
Man, you just reminded me of all the times I was called “Korn, Popkorn, Korn on the Kob, etc., by the neighborhood kids.
Which was pretty much all the times.
BEHOLD, KERN!
(Totz is a German name, pronounced like ‘totez’.)
Tater Tot, Tater Totz, Zachary Toast, Toad, etc… That’s what kids made out of my name…
Is your inner goddess blushing too?
My who-what-now? What are you talking about?
…But, probably yes.
…Oh my!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WahBH9sANg
Also, “my inner goddess” (and Charles Dance):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3POYx6IeeI
You’re welcome.
I really hope Joe and Jacob get more focus soon.
HIDE YOUR WOMEN! Double Js on the prowl!
But when are we gonna get our Sierra chapter!? She’s clearly the best character!
Is Joe’s shirt (“eyes up here ^”) supposed to be a note to self?
At least he wasn’t wearing a shirt like this:
/\
THE MAN
THE LEGEND
\/
Or that shirt with the married couple that says game over.
I’m actually wearing those boxers right now. It was an anniversary gift.
You tease! More Ruth and Billie! D:
On the plus side, though; for an entire year, you are not allowed to create suspense via weekend breaks because, as per the agreement with Kickstarter, YOU GET NO WEEKEND BREAKS MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! >:D
All my weekends now feature Danny.
Just Danny or Danny interacting with other characters?
Just Danny. Staring blankly. Into your soul. Like Jacob.
But Jacob is clearly looking sideways.
When Jacob stares into people’s souls, they get all hot and bothered.
When Danny stares into people’s souls, they just get bothered.
Danny staring into your soul is only better than faz staring into your soul. And Faz staring into your soul is worse than hell.
When I stare at people they just get hot.
Laser vision’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Oh Cyclops, you and your problems.
Actually, Cyclops fires force beams, they don’t actually give off heat.
Every weekend features two strips with Danny, running around the periphery of the plot, looking for Amazi-Girl.
You’ll see Sal and Jason about to get hot and heavy and Danny will just show up “HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN AMAZI-GIRL!?”
HELLO, I AM MISTER AMAZI-GIRL AND I AM LOOKING FOR THE AMAZI-GIRL HAS ANYONE SEEN THE AMAZI-GIRL WHERE IS AMAZI-GIRL?
Are you trying to make people regret giving you that Kickstarter money?
Damn you Willis! Truly you are the most wicked of men.
It’s not his fault. he needs our rage for sustenance
on that note…
DAMN YOU WILLIS!
Wait – isn’t Joe like, a good deal older than Jacob? How are they both in college at the same time? Or maybe that’s just in Shortpacked?
Yeah, the ages got changed around a bit for DOA.
Alternatively Jacob is a prodigy who skipped most of high school and also happens to be the world’s buffest fifteen year old.
…Are you noticing this now? It’s been kind of the whole premise of DoA since day one.
There is not public transportation, like buses in that college town?
He’d probably still be waiting at the bus stop. With Aslan.
Danny is in a major hurry, and the bus is neither expedient nor direct. And it’s not that far a run from downtown.
Go home, Danny, and take Amazi-Girl with you (but leave Amber, SHE’s cool.)
I thought it was mostly Willis who hated Danny.
Oh, it is. Everybody else here just joins in the hate, though.
I’m fairly sure I’ve hated Danny longer than Willis has.
DoA Danny isn’t as hateable as Walkyverse Danny, though.
But I still hates him, my precious. Stupid fat Wilcoxes.
Stop interrupting our Billie/Ruth story you dumbass!
I thought smelling glue was what you’re supposed to do in highshcool. I’ve beel living fooled my entire life.
Sniffing glue =/= eating paste. Paste is non-toxic (which is why they let elementary students use it). Sniffing glue can be harmful or even fatal depending on type and dosage. Drugs’r’bad, m’kay?
I don’t hate Danny, but I don’t like him either. He’s kind of a tool. Not as bad as Walkyverse!Danny, but still.
You guys keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
… who were interrupting our Sal/Jason story anyway, hnnnng.
Wow, I just noticed the smiley at the bottom of the page.
Looks like Jacob’s about to get a speakin’ part!
That’s another fairly interesting thing about DoA — getting to see how characters who weren’t in Roomies or It’s Walky and who haven’t gotten flashbacks in Shortpacked were in their youth.

Is paste still made from horses?
IT’S GLUE NOT PASTE JOE GET IT RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
Danny is not a tool…he’s just…really oblivious.
Aw damn, the comments section’s hatred of Danny is starting to bleed over. I need to fight that.
Really, I can’t dislike Danny. He’s pretty low on my rankings, but that’s not because of any negative traits. Most others are just great.

Why do Jacob’s lips look like hamburger buns? Damn it, now I’m hungry!
Good comic
