Not it is not awesome.
No, I’m with Joyce. It totally, totally is.
Its just so awesome. Im tearing up a bit at how awesome it is
I have to agree on the awesomeness at hand.
It’s sort of overwhelming, actually.
No two characters can make sweater-vests look so sexy.
“No two characters can make sweater-vests look so sexy.”
If Sweater vests contain sweater puppies, then you don’t have to do much more.
There are no bad looking Dumbing of Age characters, no matter what they’re wearing.
I dunno. Ryan looked pretty bad last I saw him.
That is only because we haven’t seen Walky in Pajama Jeans yet.
I have one word for you, and that word is Sal.
You’re right. It’s not awesome.
It’s SUPER awesome
Would it help if they changed their names to Hattie and Mattie?
How about Pepper and Ginger?
Sugar and Spice wouldn’t work, unless they got Amber or whoever to done a matching outfit and change her name to Everything Nice.
done = don. Typo. Sorry
How embarrassing, matching vests.
So cute! Just likea new couple~ <3
Yeeeeesss…All is proceeding exactly as I have forseen.
Dressing like a couple… Can PSL be far away?
I think not.
Incase having to go to church wasn’t enough to put a “just shoot me now” look On Dorothy’s face.
That, that is kind of frightening.
*Twilight Zone theme*
Submitted for your approval, Dorothy Keener. She thought she was just going to a normal morning service. Little did she know that when she walked through the chapel doors, she would enter–the Twilight Zone.
Dun dun dun!!! Deedle-deedle dun!
My screen locked onto that one comment, causing it to cascade all the way down the screen. It was mildly unnerving.
The only way it would be scarier is if it was Amber and Dorothy!
Also, I can’t find the piercing, augh.
Sierra has piercings in every typical piercing spot that is obscured by hair or clothes.
It’s the piercing scream going through Dorothy’s head when she noticed the matching sweater vests.
Anyone else notice that Joyce fills that vest out way better than Dorothy?
YES I have noticed that Joyce is bigger than Dotty.
WHAT THE DEUCE IS THAT PICTURE?!?!?!?! /where is it from?
It was an edit from a few months ago, I cannot recall exactly when.
As with “Wig”, looks like some strip titles got mixed up. Going by the URL, this one is “Change”.
Ok, am I the only one who noticed that we were just introduced to a new character?
There was? Well I be darned!
Unless the musical note is a new character you are mistaken. Sierra isn’t even a new appearance for this continuity. Though this is her first line as far as I can tell.
I say that the musical note deserves its own tag, it’s a very important character!
Has Sierra made an appearance in another continuity? I don’t recall seeing her in the previous series. Besides, I’m curious as to how she counterbalances Dotty.
So Dorothy’s roomie has a name nearly identical to a beverage Joyce does not prefer. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
I have no idea, I just assumed she was a member of the ultra sexy squad from It’s Walky!.
Sierra has actually appeared in one other comic, she just hasn’t said anything. And we didn’t know she was Dorothy’s roomie.
Oooooh…wait a minute…
At least she adds some more diversity. I hope she’s polynesian. Or darling that, just plain black.
Like hair dresser diva black. Not female samuel l jackson, we got one of those.
Does Sierra not deserve to be tagged?
Um, she IS tagged.
…and therefore IT! *RUNS*
Dorothy actually looks pretty good in a sweater vest.
Does anyone else notice or concerned, (with the exception of Billy) that everyone so far seems to be way too coherent at 8 am… on a Sunday, on campus that was rated the number 15 party school in the US by the Princeton review, within the first month of school. although there has only been five people may be just a fluke or I need too adjust my suspension disbelief. But the comic still great and i love the look on Dorthy’s face in panel three, its the perfect “I regret this decision immediately” look
You count 5 people.
1) Joyce, who has no reason NOT to be bright eyed and bushy tailed.
2) Dorothy, who knew well in advance that she would have to be up early on Sunday, and is known to only be at that school while she waits for her chance to transfer to an Ivy League school.
3) Sarah, who hates fun in all its forms (with the notable exception of the fun derived from being contrary)
4) Sierra, who is Dorothy’s roommate, and likely also knew, well in advance, that Dorothy would need to be up early.
5) Billie, who wanted to stay in bed.
I can understand Joyce and Dorthy being coherent, and ready but Sierra and Sarah being coherent is a bit odd i mean if Sarah hates fun being up at 7 am or 8 am actually since she was studying and dressed meaning she got up earlier i am not sure who Sierra is and i know nothing about her As i have only been reading Shortpacked and Dumbing of Age I assume she is from It’s Walky or Roomies, or Joyce and Walky or she was either shown or mentioned briefly earlier in the comic and I don’t remember her. But her being up and coherent i find personally odd even if she knew Dorthy had to get up there is no real reason for her to care to get dressed and answer the door unless she is going to church with them. From my experience from living in the dorms, it is rare to see someone up on a Sunday at least at this time less they are ending an all Night-er or going to church or coming back from a party.
im not so sure that sarah ever went to sleep in the first place. surliness is a 24 hour gig
I am fairly certain Sarah was awake for the sole purpose of overhearing Joyce and Billie discuss sticking things in holes.
Such is life as a punchline. Tiresome, and never any credit. And long line-ups to get bread each day. Or something. Punchlines have it tough.
It is kinda weird that Sierra is up and about and not at least looking more groggy, but the others are acting just about like I’d expect. (shrug)
Bekah, you have the best damn avatar ever
Huh. This is Dorothy’s roommate? I was expecting a much bigger reveal, with all the buildup.
Of course, if she turns into an awesome character, I have no complaints!
Wait what? when did that?-
…Oh, right, I guess Dorothy still feels responsible huh?
I love Joyce.
I was wondering why is so bad they match? until I remembered that only in lolita fashion that is considered a good thing XD
Sierra is really nice considering is so early on sunday XD
So it is bad form to wear matching clothes now days?
It’s usually a no-no to do things such as wear the same dress to a party. In this case, though, I believe it’s more a case of “I’m dressed just like her? People will think we think the same way.” Or a similar vein.
A similar vanity, at least.
Just wait until they get to church. EVERYO– nope, not gonna say it or Willis won’t do it. But, lol.
To be honest, on my graduation another girl and I turned out to have bought the same dress… and the only thing that worried me was that she looked better in it
Actually, it’s more a “I worked for hours on this (look/outfit), and this bitch just waltzes in here and steals my thunder!
Usually followed by both of you looking daggers at each other the rest of the night, because the bitch did do it on purpose just to show you up. But it looks better on you than it does that jealous skank.
I mean, uhm… I’ve never been in that situation. Really.
Joyce wears nothing but sweatervests. She had to know this would happen. I think she secretly wanted it to happen.
“Nothing but a sweatervest” could be pretty damn hot.
What’s going on with that girl’s neck?
She is secretly half-giraffe.
Sweater vests are awesome. That is all.
Especially when Joyce and Dorothy are the ones wearin’ ‘em. *whistles*
The PSL, it is a-growin’.
Not like that.
Although that could be interesting, too.
They are awesome as they can result in epic sweater pupspies and who doesn’t like sweater pups?
I always knew they were a couple.
It is awesome. I concur fully.
Aw, they look like twins.
You will be assimilated by the Sweater-Vests.
Resistance is noted and futile.
Correction: Resistance is FUZZY.
No, Resistance = Voltage divided by Current.
I’m going to smack you.
NOT with my penis.
With your femurs?
*gasp!* “Good LORD!!”
It actually is kinda cute. I guess despite their differences they have the same kind of fashion sense. Reserved.
I like sweater vests! They’re comfy and easy to wear!
*Pokemon battle ensues*
I was gonna post simply to moan that Joyce wasn’t in the header, but then when I hit comment, it changed. There’s tons now, when did this happen?
I just discovered this comic and spent the night reading it from the beginning. I like it. It’s adorable and reminds me of my kooky college years. =)
You keep using that word, Joyce. I do not think it means what you think it means.
It just feels right
Sierra is most definitely a cutie pie.
Ok … now I want the comic to focus on Sierra’s story.
“Oh, uh, hello Sierra”?
Can I startz shipping now PLEEEEEEEZ????????
Wait, am I missing something? Why is Dorothy going to church again?
Dorothy feels kind of responsible for what happened to Joyce, so a few strips back, she asked Joyce if there was anything she could do to make it up to her. And this is what Joyce requested.
Yeah, but knowing Dorothy’s beliefs, Joyce is still asking her to betray those beliefs, thinking that she will “see the light”. That’s close-minded and selfish on her part. Doesn’t sit well with me, no matter how guilty Dorothy feels.
Unless the church service turns out to be truly inspirational for Dotty, the Status Quo will be maintained.
Joyce isn’t asking her to “betray” her beliefs, she’s asking her to go to church. Is Joyce hoping Dorothy will accept Jesus into her heart? Certainly. Will she do everything she can to make sure Dorothy forsakes her godless heathen ways, particularly if it results in wacky hilarity? I would not be the least bit surprised. But Joyce is kind, and she cares about other people’s feelings. I expect her motives are not entirely unselfish, but at the same time, I don’t think she’s made an unreasonable request.
And as an atheist, shouldn’t Dorothy know better than to make promises out of guilt? She kinda set herself up there!
Thing is, Victor, and I’m speaking as a strong atheist here, you don’t “betray” a belief that there is no god. There’s no structure, no dogma, no concept of blasphemy. Sure, what Joyce is asking might be mildly inconsiderate of Dorothy’s feelings, but she’s not asking anybody to “betray” anything.
Well, I think Joyce is trying to help Dorothy in her own way. It could be seen as insensitve, but I’m sure her intentions are good.
I doubt they’re 100% pure. If her high school youth group was anything like mine, she’s probably got it drilled into her head that good Christians lead people to Christ. Lead an atheist to Christ, you get to feel good about yourself! Joyce cares about other people, but I’m familiar with this mentality–I expect she also wants to believe she’s a good Christian.
Huh, that must be standard Church-wearing attire.
It’s a uniform. It’s kind of like working in a fast food restaurant.
Do we get to watch them churn the lemonade?
And Dorothy was fine until she realized she was wearing green into an orange establishment. Riots have broken out over that sort of thing.
(I’m not kidding.)
Ha! *Cue Irish music*
Sierra isn’t going with them? Talk about a missed opportunity.
…staying home to shove objects in her holes.
…which would be an even worse opportunity to waste.
Sorry about this comment folks, you all can just ignore it.
I’m just curious as to what my avatar on THIS comic is. (On the Shortpacked! page it was some little girl reading a book, and I went through the whole archive there and can’t remember where she’s from)
Probably one of the Super Book kids.
A part of me is tempted to say Sierra is Tootsi from Squadron 48, but her hair looks a bit different. (though it’s following the same one eye cover pattern as shown here: http://www.walkypedia.com/index.php/File:Squad48.jpg I cannot remember if that hair behavior was consistent in all of her appearances in IW!)
Though I suppose the more relevant question is: What are Sierra’s thoughts on footware?
Huh. I was wondering who my avatar was supposed to be. And now I know.
…My life no longer has a purpose.
Is Dorothy just going to church to make Joyce feel good? B/c I thought she was an Atheist
She said she would do anything to make up for taking Joyce to the party where she got drugged. Joyce asked her to come to church. A promise is a promise.
Okay, so I haven’t read EVERYTHING that Willis has created, but I don’t recognize Sierra. Is she a per-existing character or someone new that Willis created?
And honestly, Dorthy should have have seen this coming . After all, I think we’ve only seen a handful of times where Joyce has not worn a sweater vest.
See my hypothesis a few posts above. If I had any guess on it being an old Walkyverse character, it’d be Tootsi from Squad 48.
So you think maybe Willis renamed her, or perhaps “Tootsi” is a nickname?
Not a rename so much as a reveal. =P
I just absolutely adore Joyce in the 2nd panel…
Two hot girls in sweater vests….. BOOYA!!
There is a probably a porno with that name.
Two girls one vest?
“Joooooyce! We can’t BOTH show up to God’s party wearing the same outfit! He’ll think we’re uncool!”
Why was she staring at Joyce’s junk?
