Still shouldn’t be doing it while you drive. Anyone disagreeing please raise your hand so we may cut it off and forcefully prevent you from doing so, idiot.
Me flirting in text: “Your eyes sparkle like emeralds catching the first rays of dawn from the bottom of a crystal clear pool. Should I drown in them, my only regret would be that now heaven will hold no surprises.”
I think amber’s hair in panels 1 and 2 is a bit…unfilled (around the outlines). Sometimes I don’t say anything but this time it’s so glaring I can’t help but point it out.
It gets to be second nature after a while. I’ve recorrected Greg Knight’s back to Grey Knights at least three times today. It’s gotten to the point that a genuine keyboard is actually disorienting, because everything stays how I type it the first time, so when I go back to look for errors and can’t find any, I freeze up for a few seconds while I triple-check.
You’re right, that is third-person. Meaning, yeah, probably she is Amazi-Girl right now. I’m guessing she’s AG because AG is the one dating Danny, not Amber. Which means panel 3 is her being jealous of herself.
…
Amber has ISSUES.
In that sentence she refers to both Amber and Amazi-girl in third person. So either this is another persona – maybe UC or Bruce Wayne – or she just refers to herself tht way sometimes.
Like Yotomoe says, Amazi-girl doesn’t have rosy cheeks. The ability to shift blood away from her face is her superpower.
Since both Amber and AG are the same person, there’s the potential for confusion. Referring to both in third person removes any ambiguity, so I suspect that’s why Amber is doing it that way, not because she has an additional personality.
Maybe it’s just her referring to her personas so that danny doesn’t get confused. By referring to them in the third person, he knows what she’s talking about without any awkward confusion.
At least Amber is good at vidya games, Acrobatics, and is easy on the eyes. If she can manage to like DANNY then it shouldn’t be too hard to see your own virtues.
You know, the way the page loaded, the strip’s title appeared a few seconds before the strip itself, and for a moment, I was worried that it was going to be Dottie and Walky who popped up!
Given her comic book collection, her Amazi-gadgets, her costume, and her college fees, she probably can’t afford to buy a new phone everytime one comes out. I seem to recall that her laptop is also not new.
I have a slider and will keep it. I also have a fully operational flip phone for shades of Star Trek
The soft kybds along with autocorrect are too big a pita to mess with.
I have an Ereader, laptop, gaming PC, mp3, and tablet to do all the tech/game/music/gaming stuff I need to do.
My cell is reliable for texting, phone, alarm clock, calendar, memo, and maps (its not a smart phone but it pulls up places) when I want to go online with it. It never drops calls, and it always has full bars. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.
I had a smart phone for work. I had one just to have one. Not worth it. Just another $500 gotta have it for no reason except to have it item.
When I text I have to actually try extra hard to NOT use capital letters. It defaults to them at the beginning of all sentences and autocorrects for proper nouns.
I always text in capitals and with correct punctuation (and I also review my post before I hit “submit” to correct grammar and spelling). After almost 50 years of training in how to write it’s a hard habit to break.
Pretty much everyone I know uses full words, capitals, and punctuation when texting full sentences. This also includes twitter posts. The only people who don’t are politicians.
Um. He knows. She knows he knows. He knows she knows he knows. That’s what this whole conversation is about. Did you forget the part where Amazi-Girl’s mask fell off right in front of Danny and he was all “OMG AMBER?” and, uh, all of their interactions since?
Yah know…
At first I kinda wanted to see the porn.
Now I really don’t.
It’d be like watching relatives bone.
Also, Amber now looks totally different from Dorothy.
It might just be that I see em more, but I think the art might have evolved in a great way. Maybe.
Amber’s repression issues are starting to turn into full-on personality disassociation. Now she’s even relegating her feelings for Danny to Amazi-Girl? She may feel AG needs Danny more than she does. Or perhaps she’s concerned AG may be jealous?
I used to have a phone with a keyboard like Amber…
When I changed phones, I asked for another like that, but they were like “lol, we don’t carry those anymore, they’s so unfashionable.”
thank you for changing the slipshine ad image. before it looked like danny was somehow playing amazing-girl’s butt like a trumpet, through her pants. still kinda confused on that
So Amber would prefer her relationship with Danny to be, nominally, via Amazi-Girl. I’m guessing she…sees AG as less vulnerable, and/or she’s reluctant to commit fully to the relationship, or trust Danny fully. This feels safer for now.
Well, Amazi-Girl is the actual Amber. Nominal Amber is the creation of Blaine, a weak and scared girl who isn’t who Actual Amber wants to be. Actual Amber is Amazi-Girl because she’s strong, independent, and free. So, really, Nominal Amber is someone Amber loathes and considers the mask.
Interesting take, but I don’t really see it. In some way Amber admires herself as Amazi-Girl, but in some way I feel she detests that aspect of herself. Amber uses Amazi-Girl to channel all of the rage and violent outbursts she does not want in her primary personality – which is Amber. I don’t think she really sees Amazi-Girl as a full person.
This reminds of a webcomic called Kevin and Kell. It’s an old webcomic that has been going on since 1995. I’m not joking on the year, it’s a long comic.
Ayway there was a teen couple that actually could not talk normally for a year or two. They could only talk with their back to each other and IMing each other.
I don’t understand neither of them has proposed the obvious solution; Danny should just date BOTH Amber and Amazi-girl! That would fix things, would be a double stab to his ‘looser’ status, AND even be Joe approved!
There is already one person (one of the Rachels?) who suspects Amber and Amazigirl are the same person. I think the story of Danny dating both might be a threat to the secret identity. Maybe it could be the story they tell Joe, though, and say he is embarrassed about it and doesn’t want word getting around? Would Joe keep that secret?
Better Than Phones. . .
And for the second time on a comic Willis has posted today, I must say: Seconded.
Still shouldn’t be doing it while you drive. Anyone disagreeing please raise your hand so we may cut it off and forcefully prevent you from doing so, idiot.
I’ve definitely done what Amber does before. Sometimes the written word is just easier to deal with.
I totally agree.
Sometimes the best thing to describe what I think of something is a good old
or -_-. But I can’t do either of those IRL and I get frustrated.
I’m pretty sure you can smile in real life.
Unless you’re joking. I can’t tell without an emoticon.
-Sometimes the best thing to describe what I think of something is a good old
or -_-. But I can’t do either of those IRL and I get frustrated. “XD”-
-FTFH
It does give you more time to snark, yes.
Me flirting in text: “Your eyes sparkle like emeralds catching the first rays of dawn from the bottom of a crystal clear pool. Should I drown in them, my only regret would be that now heaven will hold no surprises.”
Me flirting in person: “Hurr hurr, Yer purdy.”
Golly you’re cute <- in person
My goodness, have the heavens lost a twinkling star? Your eyes are so bright… <- typical me in text/e-mail.
Now why do I have such a hard time tapping that eloquence without writing smut?
And now I imagine that as dialogue spoken by Harvey Korman and Slim Pickens.
Now this will end badly
Amber’s adorable identity crisis, on display in panel 3
Wa-oh, time to start looking at integrating those personalities before the things take a Fight Club turn.
That would actually be kind of awesome. Amber versus imaginary Brad Pitt in a parking garage. Oh you meant Amazi-Girl!…..still awesome.
Amazi-Girl vs. imaginary Brad Pitt would be even awesomer.
But Danny telling her that he “hasn’t been fucked like that since grade school” would just be weird.
Dorothy and Danny’s relationship got more sedate after a few years.
Either or. Danny dressed as Amazi-Girl fighting an imaginary Ethan (dressed as Brad Pitt) could also be a result.
I think amber’s hair in panels 1 and 2 is a bit…unfilled (around the outlines). Sometimes I don’t say anything but this time it’s so glaring I can’t help but point it out.
I think the lowlight of her hair happens to match the door behind her.
No. It’s not. And sorry. I mean Panels 2 and 3
…send all.
Let’s just communicate through text all the time.
Word.
Perhaps we could communicate through Powerpoint.
Morse code using the PowerPoint “screeching tires” noise.
Text is best!
With a keyboard, yeah. On a phone I’m too paranoid to just post without going over any auto correct fuck ups.
My phone has a real keyboard, and always will! Soft keyboards are the devil!
Those phone keyboards are sooo tiny.
Hush Dean, you don’t even know what MySpace is! Everyone knows Sam is the computer guy.
…Er, sorry, I have been watching too much Supernatural lately.
But yeah, my KB is about 3 3/4 inches (~9.5 cm) across, three rows, plenty big enough for me. Wouldn’t want to see my dad try to use it though.
Danny just wants to hug that bosom.
Who doesn’t ?
I do. Billie’s still top of that list, though.
But Joyce has already called dibs on those pair.
Joyce’s ass has called dibs on my foot!
Uh, I read that as “Higgs bosom”.
Now type “kiss”.
This.
Why type when you can ASCII:
(っ’з’)っ
So cute, Plas!
That is so not remotely ascii. it is unicode.
Details schmetails!
Unicode:
So what character did you use for the hands? My ASCII chart didn’t have it.
っ is a Japanese character.
tsu? It’s hiragana, right? I studied it in the ’80’s..
awesome
what confuses me is why/how the 3 is smaller and in a different font. It even looks the same in the source view, and there are no style tags on it…
Nevermind, it is “cyrillic small letter ze”
That would just be ASC-Ing for it.
Eyy?
Anybody?
Honestly? They can’t just Whisper to eachother? Is there even anyone in the Hallway?
And Just a Guess, Somebody is going to borrow Dan’s Phone later and see this Conversation.
Whispering looks suspicious. DS Texting just looks like a pair of nerds being, well, nerds.
no offense to danny but who the heck would wanna borrow his phone
Offense to Danny, NOBODY.
Danny will lend his DS to Billie again. Billie and Amber will begin a torrid online affair, neither knowing who the other is.
That will be billie’s roomate. Sal.
I prefer to talk thru 3DS
Which looking back on it, probably not the best idea to broadcast the secret that your in a relationship with a super hero
Text is too unsecure.
Communicate via eye blinking in Attic Greek using Cyrillic Morse Code.
“So you and Amber have to be careful”
She’s referring to herself in the third person? Is she in Amazi girl persona mindset right now?
You’re right, that is third-person. Meaning, yeah, probably she is Amazi-Girl right now. I’m guessing she’s AG because AG is the one dating Danny, not Amber. Which means panel 3 is her being jealous of herself.
…
Amber has ISSUES.
You silly people. Amazi-girl never BLUSHES. Duh.
But… she’s not blushing now, either.
Except she is.
Maybe Amber is Amazi-girl whenever she’s online?
Amber (Bruce Wayne) is the mask.
Matches O’Malone
Since both Amber and AG are the same person, there’s the potential for confusion. Referring to both in third person removes any ambiguity, so I suspect that’s why Amber is doing it that way, not because she has an additional personality.
Maybe it’s just her referring to her personas so that danny doesn’t get confused. By referring to them in the third person, he knows what she’s talking about without any awkward confusion.
Amber has a long way to go before she likes Amber.
Typing on the 3DS is still too loud. Communicate telepathically.
Oh wait, those are cell phones, whoops.
Amber still has one of those slider phones? Thought they’re passe by now.
Though thinking about it, she’s probably awesome enough to upgrade the damn thing.
Given her comic book collection, her Amazi-gadgets, her costume, and her college fees, she probably can’t afford to buy a new phone everytime one comes out. I seem to recall that her laptop is also not new.
*is also on Team Text-Don’t-Talk*
Gravatar love!!! Is this a character from another strip or something?
I think it’s from one of those online avatar-maker apps.
I wish I got notis for comments via Gravatar.
I used FaceQ: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.miantan.myoface&hl=en
Dear Lord, what fossil is Amber using?
foolish complicated humans
Is that a… sarcasm tag?
It’s a sarcasm _end_ tag. He’s saying ‘Ok, Let’s stop being sarcastic now.’
He’s asking whether she’s being sarcastic about “being able to talk with him”, since the whole point of this conversation is that they can’t.
I have a slider and will keep it. I also have a fully operational flip phone for shades of Star Trek
The soft kybds along with autocorrect are too big a pita to mess with.

WOW, young people who use capitals and punctuation marks in texting!
When I text I have to actually try extra hard to NOT use capital letters. It defaults to them at the beginning of all sentences and autocorrects for proper nouns.
Software programmers are silently plotting to educate us.
More like plotting to end the need for education.
So this is how I’m reminded of Roy singing “Another Brick in the Wall” in an episode of The IT Crowd.
I always text in capitals and with correct punctuation (and I also review my post before I hit “submit” to correct grammar and spelling). After almost 50 years of training in how to write it’s a hard habit to break.
Except in the 4th panel, which is probably an approximation for Willis’ use of smaller font.
(Damn, Amber is cute.)
I’m fairly fastidious about using actual English text in my texts, but then, I’m hardly what most would consider “the young” at this point.
Some of us youngsters do it too. Mostly the bookworms.
Pretty much everyone I know uses full words, capitals, and punctuation when texting full sentences. This also includes twitter posts. The only people who don’t are politicians.
I USE CAPITALS!!! AND PUCTUATION!!! HOW DARE YOU CRITISISE THE TEXTING OF THE YOUTH!!!
Obligatory pointing out too much of a good thing.
Noooo paper trail PAPER TRAIL GUYS
I mean, text trail, but still – Peter Parker should probably not send MJ texts about Spiderman.
Danny, just tell her that you know (or at least strongly suspect) that she is Amazi-Girl and that you like her in either incarnation.
Um. He knows. She knows he knows. He knows she knows he knows. That’s what this whole conversation is about. Did you forget the part where Amazi-Girl’s mask fell off right in front of Danny and he was all “OMG AMBER?” and, uh, all of their interactions since?
Also, her text in today’s last panel.
Yah know…
At first I kinda wanted to see the porn.
Now I really don’t.
It’d be like watching relatives bone.
Also, Amber now looks totally different from Dorothy.
It might just be that I see em more, but I think the art might have evolved in a great way. Maybe.
At least they’re not typing “How R U”? and such.
Danny is a UBB expert by now.
Is she still talking/texting in third person?
Amber’s repression issues are starting to turn into full-on personality disassociation. Now she’s even relegating her feelings for Danny to Amazi-Girl? She may feel AG needs Danny more than she does. Or perhaps she’s concerned AG may be jealous?
Obviously, Danny just needs to suggest a threesome to sort this all out.
(I haven’t read the porn, so for all I know that’s part of it, but…)
It…kinda is, metaphorically.
…maybe I’m totally missing something, but Danny’s suggestion doesn’t seem like a bad one.
It’s a good suggestion. Amber’s just still crazy and compartmentalising her personality.
Oh, you couldn’t have a better set up for drama than this. It’s just falling into laps everywhere.
I used to have a phone with a keyboard like Amber…
When I changed phones, I asked for another like that, but they were like “lol, we don’t carry those anymore, they’s so unfashionable.”
Ok… I miss my keyboard.
I feel your pain. This miserable shitbrick of a touchscreen sabotages me at every turn.
There is no way this can’t end badly.
thank you for changing the slipshine ad image. before it looked like danny was somehow playing amazing-girl’s butt like a trumpet, through her pants. still kinda confused on that
Makin’ fart noises by blowing up against her buttcheek.
Truly there is no classier form of foreplay.
Joe is looking and thinking “Is that their idea of sex?”
Poor Danny, Amazi-Girl is going to kill him when she finds out he’s sleeping with Amber.
So Amber would prefer her relationship with Danny to be, nominally, via Amazi-Girl. I’m guessing she…sees AG as less vulnerable, and/or she’s reluctant to commit fully to the relationship, or trust Danny fully. This feels safer for now.
And, like, with Danny ripe for a sexual identity crisis, let’s hope this works.

This reply was for Charles Phipps.
I’m so indecisive about whether this or EthDan is my DoA OTP
Go with the Amber/Amazi-Girl/Danny/Ethan OT4.
What about Mike?
Good point. But what do we call it, then? Ambmazannythan?
This reminds of a webcomic called Kevin and Kell. It’s an old webcomic that has been going on since 1995. I’m not joking on the year, it’s a long comic.
Ayway there was a teen couple that actually could not talk normally for a year or two. They could only talk with their back to each other and IMing each other.
That is actually most of the K&K couples =I
I don’t understand neither of them has proposed the obvious solution; Danny should just date BOTH Amber and Amazi-girl! That would fix things, would be a double stab to his ‘looser’ status, AND even be Joe approved!
You’re assuming Joe-approved is a good thing.
(It’s really not)
There is already one person (one of the Rachels?) who suspects Amber and Amazigirl are the same person. I think the story of Danny dating both might be a threat to the secret identity. Maybe it could be the story they tell Joe, though, and say he is embarrassed about it and doesn’t want word getting around? Would Joe keep that secret?
Ooo this is a shitty situation. And a big, huge Red Flag for Danny.
