Were Amber to actually look at him she’d probably know who he was, but in the time honored tradition of comic book superheroes he has absolutely no idea who she is.

I’m betting if Amber wouldn’t care one way or another. I mean, aside from super-heroics, she seems to only care about video games right now. 😛

I use mine to play GBA, GG, and NES emulators on it. Some phones like the Cliq for example actually has a D-Pad on it. Mine unfortunately does not ._.

        January 7, 2011 at 12:29 am | #

I’ve played mario kart DS. The touch screen shows the map, and has no controls whatsoever. Tapping the touchscreen switches it between just a line map, ala every other mario kart, or a detailed map focused around the player’s character.
Diddy kong racing had controls on the touch screen though, but I don’t see how any of this is relevant in the slightest since her hands would have to be in a different position for it to work in the slightest.

          January 7, 2011 at 12:31 am | #

also, just a tidbit, but the detailed map is really helpful when your opponet uses the squid icon, which shoots ink on the top screen. You can still use the bottom screen to drive accurately without hitting obstacles.

Honestly, most of the good DS games, IMHO, use the buttons more than the touch screen.

Touch screen-based games stand out more. That is, if the touch screen is appropriate for the game, it can be pure magic, but if it’s not, it just feels like a cheap gimmick. Button-based games, OTOH, are just, you know… games.

I’d say no control scheme is inherently bad, except for the ones that assume that people have two right hands.

No, see, he was doing this thing called “making a sacrifice for the one you love.” And when one is young, one can quite easily make such sacrifices, considering them nothing and having full faith they will be rewarded for it. Danny is just pissed because it all blew up in his face, and is being a tad sarcastic with his external monologue. Being pissed after being dumped by someone who has, in hindsight, obviously never taken being with you quite as seriously as you took being with them, is quite normal, not “wrong.” Were Danny acting like everything was just fine and dandy, -then- something would be wrong. =P

But he was expecting her to sacrifice everything to be with him as well. It’s perfectly fine to make sacrifices, but it’s wrong to try to make others sacrifice for your own sake.

If you’re the only one making all the sacrifices it’s not a relationship, it’s a walk over. You can’t expect big sacrifices from someone, and you making a sacrifice does not entitle you to make demands but compromise has to be a two way thing.

It was a college she chose, and going from what the other commenter’s have said a transfer to Yale wouldn’t have happened quickly. A big sacrifice from him in order to knock two years off the amount of time you’ve got to do a distance relationship for which could help you stay together long term seems worth it.

True, but Danny’s a real romantic so far, so he was probably like “OUR LOVE IS SO GREAT THAT SHE SHALL STAY AND WE SHALL BE HAPPY FOREVER!” He wouldn’t think that she was making a sacrifice, he was just thinking that she would realize that going to a different college is a mistake.

Exactly. This has been the point of his mistake. He really wanted to keep being with her, and in his desperation, made some bad choices. It’s not “wrong”, as GBH was saying – it’s part of growing up. Recognizing what you did wrong, learning from it, and not doing it again. Let’s hope Danny-boy can get enough distance from the situation to get the needed perspective.

He just needs to learn that humans aren’t really worth the time. This is something everyone eventually learns. Social interaction is by far the most insincere act any lifeform on this planet uses. The entire purpose is not to actually meet nice people and form social bonds, but rather develop defense mechanisms and use mimicry to increase the chances of survival for one’s genes.

Danny would have far better success if he simply took his roommate’s advice (though not to the sexual direction, as one does not know who has picked up what at college). A little excessive dating and healthy disregard for the value of human life goes a long way.

Kinda spooky, but I just overheard some kids at school talking about the same thing that just happened to Danny happening to a friend of theirs. Followed his girlfriend to college, was warned by another of his friends that it wasn’t gonna work out, guy denies it, then girl breaks up with him. I was like, “I’m having Deja Vu. o.o”

I majored in CS at Purdue; it’s not at all a good CS school. It’s got a good engineering department, but mediocre CS.

GREEEETINGS FROM THE FUTURE. Here’s a tidbit to which I might make you all familiar:

Amber would have been much better off if she’d followed his advice.
