You DO know you could just save your favorite Sal image, then upload it as your permanent avatar on the Gravatar site, yes?

You can even clip your own from the comic that isn’t one of the general options and upload it and now people think it’s part of the rotation because you clipped it from the comic ^_^
Or you can choose whichever default avatar looks most like you, and edit it in MS Paint for a kinda Willis-style version of your face, and then upload *that* to the Gravatar website.
(it was many years ago, I have glasses now and am a better artist than I was then. But that’s okay, close enough.)
You can look at the last time you did grav roulette, assuming you do them in a reproducible order, or leave hints in the comment text what your capitalization was.
Or even a picture from some other webcomic, or your favorite anime.

More seriously, I think there’s been a role reversal, or at least a change in their dynamic. Joyce feels the amount of helpingness between them has been tragically uneven. And now she’s helping not because she’s obligated, but because she can and Dorothy needs it. She’s tucked her in after she drifted to sleep, that’s symbolic. Joyce is a mom friend now too.
Fingers crossed!

You would think that everything would be fine, for the moment perhaps, but we know that Dorothy has to be honest sooner or later. Leaving that aside, they cannot deny that
Dorothy looks very beautiful in these panels
In my head;
Dorothy doesn’t have the nightmare tonight, and locks in, consciously or unconsciously, that being near Joyce reassures her and keeps the nightmare away. She keeps ‘nodding off’ next to Joyce for the rest of the year, and once they’re no longer in the dorms and now in a house that Joyce, Joe, Sarah, Carla, Walky, and Sal are renting together, Joyce twigs onto “Is Dorothy narcoleptic?” and frog-marches her to a sleep specialist in a mirror of how Dorothy frog-marched her to the ophthalmologist.
Whatever I may feel about Dorothy not telling Joyce about her problems is erased by Joyce’s unconditional caring about her friend. I have been out-unconditioned by a fictional character.
That’s really cute, but I beg of you, put the glasses somewhere less risky

It’s very insightful and sweet that Joyce has enough emotional intelligence to see Dorothy is struggling, give her some problems to fix, and subtly comfort her about things she can’t control. Joyce can be devious in her own way and fixing the problem so they Dotty doesn’t even know she did anything is so smart.

One time in middle school a teacher got pissed at me for reading a book in my lap, so she grabbed the book and violently slammed it down on the desk, partially brnding my glasses. They blamed me because I was “reading wrong”.
I’ve heard, and experienced, some real horror stories regarding teachers but “reading wrong” both tracks with that and yet is entirely novel.
