I mean he’s stuffed full of nuggets with packed bowels lying in his room in the dark in the middle of the day… That’s about as crashout as Walky can get
There’s been other times where she’s been right place, right time. Not as often as she thinks she is, true, but I think the commentariat is a bit prone to overlooking her good traits–there’s a bunch of folks who pretty much treat her like one of the strip’s villains.
Jennifer has always been a better person and friend than the comments give her credit for. Time skip where she was mostly mean to Asher of all people really turned sentiment against her. Asher and well Walky and based on recent Joyce backlash being mean to Walky is just a huge mistake in general.
No I totally agree, turns out I was misquoting what I thought I was quoting. The actual subtitle is “and for a first time it’s surprisingly not embarrassing or aggressively terrible.” Oops.
Laying down on someone’s bed with them while they’re going through a hard time is absolutely more than ‘acquaintanceship’. Jennifer is Walky’s friend, even if she sometimes wishes she wasn’t.
I actually had to think a minute to figure out what he wants to say. It seemed like he tried to say his metabolism works fast but is not made of steel and he thought that word meant something along those lines, but alright, he’s saying he’s going to make a lot of poop soon but not throw up. Throwing out those ten dollar words can get in the way of clear communication! But I guess that’s how he and Billie communicate, as two people with expansive vocabularies.
Walky’s rectum: That’s it! I demand Metabolism Reduction Clause! Enough with me handle this amount of shit.
Walky’s stomach: Ay!
Walky’s brain: Ay!
Walky’s guts: Ay!
Walky’s heart: Nay! It’s too much fat to me.
Walky’s liver: we got majority, proceeding with Reduction of Work. Good luck, lads!
For some reason this gives me the image of Goku trying to power up but instead of his muscles and energy field getting bigger, he just starts gaining weight like Weird Al in “Fat”
Okay but honestly I do think this was coming regardless of what just happened with Dorothy (although I’m sure it didn’t help). He’s had a breakdown coming for a hot minute, it was just a matter of what the inciting factor was gonna be
It’s still only been what, a couple weeks since Lucy dumped him and he kinda told off his parents? Bro’s been having a month, even if it’s not the worst that’s happened.
Man its been a second since Walky just fully vegged out.
Also I feel like he’s barely deflecting for once, like words aside its pretty hard to read this as anything other than an admission that he’s fully not okay.
Anyhow glad Billifer is there to help, maybe, hopefully hell also have the support of Sal somewhere later down the line once the news of just exactly what went down properly breaks to the rest of the friend group.
Like I know Sal knows Joyce and Dot were making out but I don’t actually think she knew Dot and Walky were an item at the time
Etymologically it means “tiny-souled”, and is the opposite of “magnanimous”. I can’t think of any other words in English descended from Latin pusillus.
Actually, nah, this is just about right. Walky having a negative reaction is actually a genuine consequence. And Billifer going to help him once she heard this was legit–hell, Billie KNOWING he’d need a little support after this–is just icing on the cake.
Walky having a negative reaction is especially a genuine consequence once Dorothy hears about it — she definitely has some tender feelings for him, regardless of the fact she’s not particularly great to him (slight understatement) in terms of how she handles their off/on relationship, and she’s likely to feel pretty awful about it in proportion to how badly she finds out he’s feeling.
Nope. Like every aspect of my life I had a lotta momentum at the start but slowly peterred out in the middle and fell off. I will absolutely get back to it though. I’m really proud of it.
Don’t remember if I said this when the full thing was posted, but the whole Billie/Walky thing was one excellent comic in all the right ways. I know it’s a joke, but I guess what I’m getting at is when I hear a voice actor I don’t wanna be aware I’m listening to someone acting. If you sound like a “guy on the internet” that means I am not convinced you’re a gristled scrap yard worker who has criminal connections.
That’s a fair criticism! There could be a variety of reasons behind it too – lack of experience, voice direction, recognizing the voice as A Guy You Know & being thrown off (I get this with SungWon Cho sometimes, including here, even though I genuinely think he’s good at his job).
I guess I bristled a little at the phrasing because voice actors nowadays pretty much have to be a guy on the internet to build a portfolio and get work (or at least it’s advantageous!).
There’s a specific vibe to it, like “I’m just A Guy™ and I own a microphone, now I will talk in my everyday voice that isn’t particularly distinct. I’m reading the words on the page in the tone that’s been indicated, but I’m not adding anything extra to it.” Not necessarily a pejorative or mark against the actor, but it’s almost never gonna be the voice you remember distinctly. Like a grilled chicken breast with salt and pepper, as a vocal performance.
Wh-Why wouldn’t I want to find the acting be believable enough for me to suspend my disbelief and forget they’re all people playing parts? I feel like that’s the whole point
It was great. I’m very intrigued by the story so far and the animation was excellent. Glitch has really been a refreshing studio for animators to get a platform. I hope they never get bought by some giant soulless corporation. Also it’s just nice to see more diversity in adult themes animation. We’ve slowly been experiencing a bit of a new breakout era in western animation for adults. Less comedic family guy knockoffs more actual imaginative storytelling.
I esp loved Frankie showing Schizotypal/Schizophrenic traits in a way that was pretty thoughtful, like legitimately I think the only other character I can think of that was Schizophrenic in a neutral/positive way was Sugar from Gray Folie’s Drop Out/Fresh Meat webcomics.
It’s not something I personally go through, but it’s always nice to see neuroatypical behaviors and people not be demonized or punished for having those experiences, esp the less easy to grasp or outwardly “scary” experiences.
Not familiar with the studio, but I like animation so I gave it a shot. In general the animation quality was extremely impressive, I was very unimpressed with the voice acting, and the show is halfway between being something I definitely want to watch and something that feels kinda… Young adult edgy if that makes sense? In terms of its writing and delivery. I’ll probably watch another couple episodes to see how it settles into itself, but the initial vibes don’t quite feel like they work for me. Which is a bummer bc it’s great to look at.
Great, yes, thank you, this is what I’ve been waiting to see. Kinda also wish she–and Sal–had been a little tougher on Dorothy & Joyce when they saw them, though. I know it would’ve been out of character for either of them to have a Sarah-level reaction, but give me *something*.
I speculate that if it hadn’t taken this long to get from the protest kiss to today’s strip (seriously, is it just the drama, or has the pace been particularly slow this chapter??) it would’ve headed off a lot of people’s complaining.
I think you hit the nail on the head – if more attention had been paid to getting to the telling and showing the boufriends’ reactions, then I think there would have been less disappointment and resentment over all of this. I definitely didn’t want to see sal or Jennifer chew them out though, as neither is a model citizen and I really dislike authorial or audience voice being implanted in random characters – it already felt pretty out of character for Sarah.
Tbh it seems very in character for Jennifer to chew someone else out for doing something she 100% would do in a heartbeat. Maybe that’s a misread on my part though. Jennifer isn’t a model citizen but that usually doesn’t stop her from high horsing. (I also thought it was in character for Sarah.)
Sarah’s boyfriends have cheated on her and/or were stolen by her younger sister, Liz. I think it was like 3 of them? So I think her saying Joe doesn’t deserve to be betrayed is actually extremely in character. Especially now that she has realized Joe isn’t just a lecherous douche canoe like he pretended he was in the first semester.
(I don’t agree that it makes Sarah hypocritical, I think this whole mini arc was just Sarah having the same reservations about Joe that Dorothy did but without the sublimated jealousy.) (But I do think it’s what Astariel means.)
It’s seemed like a catch-22 for Willis. People complained about not digging deeper into the protest, then people complained that pacing was slow and/or negative reactions weren’t instantaneous. Can’t please anyone, y’know?
Well, every single character should have teleported directly to Joyce and Dorothy and started berating them the moment their lips touched. Anything less is hack writing and #problematic.
It’s admittedly a catch-22 for Willis — at some point, the number of simultaneous important things happening in this comic, at least two of which had a much more negative/strident reaction from the fanbase than anticipated, has caused the pacing of the most recent storylines to feel very out of whack compared to previous storylines. The only way out is through, though — as someone who’s complained about the pacing, I nonetheless expect that we’ll eventually get to a point where there are a manageable amount of things happening simultaneously again such that parts of it don’t feel like a bit of a slog.
The fun part is that I’m pretty sure this isn’t unguarded Walky. It’s another mask he’s wearing over the other one because Billie knows him too well to fall for the obfuscating stupidity.
I’m pretty sure Walky’s come out at least twice already, but no one noticed because Walky coming out is indistinguishable from Walky joking about coming out. He’s going to have to start actually frenching dudes before anyone’ll take it seriously, and even then some people will just figure he’s really dedicated to his humor.
Good point, if he’s been out the entire time but nobody noticed, would it even still technically be a coming out? (Something about a tree falling vs Walky frenching a dude in the woods…)
Hey Walky, a number of DoA fans want D & J punished for their ‘sins’. If you died, they would feel really guilty. That’d be punishment for them. So, how about it? I mean, crap for you, but, you know, satisfying for those with a morality complex.
No? Not into the whole God will punish you thing? Well, good for you. And esp. for bribing Willis with those 13 nuggets not to visit consequences on *you* for the other 237.
Or, this didn’t come out of nowhere and has been lampshades by just about every character, including sal and walky, on a regular basis. Most likely, Sal has no idea that Dotty didn’t break up with Walky first, and possibly didn’t even know they were back together given it’s been 4 days and she’s been very occupied between Danny, Looking Cool, and probably derby.
This potential ship might not have been on my radar. Walky has always been a good friend, even if Jennifer never acknowledged it. That kind of friendship makes a solid foundation for a romantic partner. Walky would be good for her. And even if this stays a platonic, non-rule 34 sibling relationship, it would still be the healthiest relationship Jennifer has ever been/will ever be in.
Does Walky count as a friend, or family though? Billie/Jennifer treats him more like he’s her younger brother than just a friend, and Walky treats Billie/Jennifer like his sister just like Sal.
Billie/Jen and Sal have referenced being siblings too, and the Walkertons being Billie’s real parents. The Billingsworths never had time for her, so she mostly grew up like an unofficial adopted child in her friend’s family.
Because “sibling coded” isn’t a phrase I’ve ever heard from anyone but some wingnut trying to declare someones ship or fanfiction literally illegal because shipping or writing about two fictional characters who are “sibling coded” (but who unlike Walky and Jennifer have never actually even said they view each other as siblings) is the same as shipping or writing about two fictional characters who are actually siblings.
And since shipping or writing about two fictional characters who are actually siblings is shipping or writing about incest that’s the same as real incest and the person who ships or writes about them should be harassed and/or arrested.
And no, this isn’t a straw man argument. There are people who want those who ship the wrong characters or write the wrong fiction literally arrested and I have never before today heard the term “sibling coded” or for that matter “minor coded” (which they would say about Dina) from anyone other than them.
In short I don’t know where you picked the term up, but people get mad when you use it because it’s a dog whistle largely associated with some very unpleasant people and using it makes people think you’re one of them.
Saying that they see each other as siblings has canonical support and lacks the baggage of “sibling coded”. Although it should also be remembered that it’s not unknown for people who see themselves as siblings but who are not in fact related in any way to change their minds about that.
Describing things as “xyz-coded” existed in academia long before anti-shippers, and is an obvious enough use of language that many people would have thought of it independently.
Anti-shippers are still deranged, though. Just block the tags that squick you and move on, it’s why tagging exists. Maybe things would be less stupid if social media algos didn’t try to force random users we didn’t follow into feeds, not those users’ fault the platform is poorly designed though.
They’re just close childhood friends. The closest they ever go is “like a sibling to me,” but that doesn’t make them actually related or anything.
Honestly, with how awful Walky’s past relationship with his biological sister was and his current relationship with his parents are, Jenny being the one to always have his back at this point might make them *closer* than normal family members! Always having each other’s back, always keeping the other’s best interests in mind~! It’s almost enough to make you wonder, hm!
I mean they don’t really like each other, they never really have. Mostly because they resemble each other too much. Walky exists to antagonize and without the traumatic and stressful bonds that were forged in SEELE, it’s just kind of “God I can’t STAND them, they’re so immature and childish and antagonistic and rude” and if you’re their friend you sigh and look up in the air and go “YEAH THEY GOT SOME NERVE”
Okay, so, Dorothy broke up with Walky, conclusively, again. Dorothy has yet to be told that Joe is okay with sharing Joyce. Does this lead Dorothy to attempt to get Walky back with her for a weird messy polycule and he realizes just how shitty and unfair this has been to go through for literally his entire college years and just go “no”? I feel like it’s not impossible.
Walky’s definitely upset now, but I’m not sure this is really any different that reactions to his previous breakups. Maybe a little more intense, thus needing more nuggets, but still more of “I lost the girl I didn’t really deserve” than “I don’t deserve to be treated like this”.
I’d like to see some of the latter. Maybe not take Jennifer’s advice on how to get back at someone who dumped you, but at least not try to make it easier for her, like he did last time. And basically just give up on being friends with her, at least for now.
I think this was him pushing the emotions down and kicking the can down the road on reacting because he still doesn’t do emotions good
we might get the real reaction tomorrow. or sometime in the future anyway.
He may not be curt or harsh with Dorothy, but I expect in no uncertain terms that she’s gonna try the whole, ‘Hey guess this means we could try again’ or she may look to him in a moment of comfort when her and Joyce have their first fight.
And he may just say ‘no’ in a funny way or drop his demeanor and hit her with some cutting words.
I don’t have any difficultly seeing Dorothy trying to go back to Walky when/if she and Joyce have a big fight or any troubles, I don’t know that I see any kind of polycule forming for two reasons:
1) Joyce doesn’t like Walky. Like, at all. Enough so that I suspect strongly she’d object to Dorothy even being in a hinge relationship with both of them.
2) Dorothy, whether she realizes she’s doing it or not, has been basically using Walky as Emergency Dick (in case of relationship woes, break glass!) every since she broke up with him the first time, and I suspect she’ll only actually consider wanting him back if she has troubles with Joyce.
It’s clear she DOES have some tender feelings for him. It’s equally clear that those feelings are conflicted with a lot of her other issues in a way that’s detrimental to their overall interactions.
Honestly I’m pretty sure reason 1 also applies to Dorothy and Joe, which is why I anticipate this going spectacularly badly. Everyone involved is going to realize why Joyce, while loveable, has the emotional intelligence of a horny teenager who’s never thought about relationships beyond a child’s notion of “some day I’ll get married.”
Dorothy and Joe have worked out their issues, remember him checking in on her and starting this whole ball rolling? I think they’ll be fine. Joe is trying to be better.
a sausage huh?
happy Oktoberfest, Walky! XD
I feel like this strip should’ve been titled “Pusillanimous”
…Or possibly even Book 16: It’s Expedient, Not Pusillanimous.
Yes yes yes yes yes this is exactly what I wanted
Walky is taking it too well! I want a crashout! I. NEED. CONSEQUENCES!/s
For anyone who wasn’t half garbage disposal, 237 McNuggets would BE a crashout.
Also, pretty sure that’s 13 McNuggets unaccounted for. I shudder to think where they might turn up.
They already made their exit.
Fully-automatic style, 10 McNuggets per second.
Pew-pew-pew-pew-pew!
Maybe he opted to just leave them in the box as a way to recoup his energy after he has to void the others?
He seems to have them in the box and stored under his pillow for later.
Billie is about to wring those consequences out of him, trust
Hot? 🧐
I mean he’s stuffed full of nuggets with packed bowels lying in his room in the dark in the middle of the day… That’s about as crashout as Walky can get
I mean…self-harm via eating yourself sick feels like consequences.
Jennifer Performs A Friendship
“and it’s surprisingly not terrible?”
The actual subtitle is “and for a first time it’s surprisingly not embarrassing or aggressively terrible.” Oops.
she’s pretty great when she’s not twisting herself into figurative knots trying to be The Cool Kid.
good title
Jennifer performs a non-hostile long-term acquaintance.
Not sure I’d go as far as “friendship”, but… it could get there, in time. I’m willing to be proven wrong. ^^
Laying down on someone’s bed with them while they’re going through a hard time is absolutely more than ‘acquaintanceship’. Jennifer is Walky’s friend, even if she sometimes wishes she wasn’t.
with a little bit of “adopted sibling”.
kind of like Becky.
AYYYYYYYYY
I wish that was still up on Imgur, do you have another place that particular fancomic was posted?
Seconded, it was pretty great.
YAY! they’re bonding! ^-^
Man we got kissing AND consequences, in a row. Truly trying to make everyone happy
well he ain’t failing english class, at least!
Your mom ain’t failing English class
I think you meant
You’are Mom’s is are not dident falling Anglish clash,
Mom fail English? That’s unpossible!
you’re more optimistic about her than I am
You have to do the work and turn it in to pass.
confounds!
its the turning it in that’s the tricky part
shows he’s been hanging out with Jason
Walky fail English? That’s unpossible!
Don’t trust incoming nugget shits.
IU’s plumbing faces its greatest challenge yet.
this ongoing bit is thrilling, i can’t wait for the new variation every day, please never stop <3
it’ll be like an allied bombing run on german positions
in the dorm toilet
devastation across the university’s industrial plant by which i mean plumbing
a true test of IU infrastructure
god speed, you crazy bastard, god speed
Well, that made me snort-laugh. Thanks.
Walky’s rectum: That’s it! I demand Metabolism Reduction Clause! Enough with me handle this amount of shit.
Walky’s stomach: Ay!
Walky’s brain: Ay!
Walky’s guts: Ay!
Walky’s heart: Nay! It’s too much fat to me.
Walky’s liver: we got majority, proceeding with Reduction of Work. Good luck, lads!
Yay
Jennifer knows how to be good to Walky only when it counts and absolutely needs to be.
I’d say she always knows, just doesn’t feel the need because reasons.
She’s practically a sibling from what I recall, so it makes sense to be fair
That rare sisterly moment we don’t get to see often.
What about the other 13? Does Walky actually have a McNugget limit?
I believe the bulk box of nugs is sold in boxes of 40, so there’d only be three unaccounted for…
Fifty. McNuggets.
That is a deep cut. You have a fantastic memory.
Shrinkflation is a bongo? 😀
yes
That’s as many as five tens.
And that’s terrible!
the joke is that he discovered that limit and is trying to break it to increase the power level of his already super saiyan metabolism XD
For some reason this gives me the image of Goku trying to power up but instead of his muscles and energy field getting bigger, he just starts gaining weight like Weird Al in “Fat”
Which part of him goes blonde for thatone?
Given how it looks in Dragonball when people power up, this ties in nicely with the “incoming McNugget shit” thread.
also the three minutes of continuous screaming.
In his pockets for later.
holy funk 237 ?
In a row?
Knowing Walky, most likely yes.
I had some greasy food recently and suddenly had the urge to shit while I was making my way home.
My ass didn’t make it.
RIP soldier
Jennifer and Walky need a moment, I think it’s been a while since these two have seen each other without some level of animosity.
Walky’s coping well with this, as we can all see!
It’s been like…a week, I think.
It’s been exactly one week.
If Walky barfed on Jennifer they’d be even.
I think Walky needs to barf on Ruth. It’s the circle of barf.
I too am flabbergasted by Walky’s sudden exhibition of lexicographical virtuosity.
left apoplectic over the befuddlement of this happenstance
Word 😌
Man its been a second since Walky just fully vegged out.
Also I feel like he’s barely deflecting for once, like words aside its pretty hard to read this as anything other than an admission that he’s fully not okay.
Anyhow glad Billifer is there to help, maybe, hopefully hell also have the support of Sal somewhere later down the line once the news of just exactly what went down properly breaks to the rest of the friend group.
Like I know Sal knows Joyce and Dot were making out but I don’t actually think she knew Dot and Walky were an item at the time
Laying in his bed in darkness unmoving and doing nothing not having even eaten all of the nuggets he got is definitely a sign that he’s doing great
He’s fine!
Oof. I thought I was well-read, but I had to look that one up!
pusillanimous – adjective
pu·sil·lan·i·mous
: lacking courage and resolution : marked by contemptible timidity
Etymologically it means “tiny-souled”, and is the opposite of “magnanimous”. I can’t think of any other words in English descended from Latin pusillus.
Ah nuts, I thought I knew it but I was wrong. I had it confused with pugnacious.
allegedly- though i haven’t bothered to drill down- the insult “pussy” is a diminutive of this word, and not a slur on the noble vagina
Long story short: nope, utter nonsense. https://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=24012
But the horseshit etymology is definitely how Walky knows it.
And here I thought you were a Rutles fan
“You’re so… pusillanimous, oh yeah. Nature’s calling, an’ I mus’ go there” Walky too, soon!
Ah, but do you know perfervid, puissant, and multiple pantheistic solipsism?
Yep, I’v e got a big… a lage… a huge… um, that word that means you know a lot of words.
I also am a sesquipedalian.
“Perfervid” is a new one for me, but I’ve heard the others. Heinlein thanks you for remembering him!
Poor Walky. Guy deserves a nice day.
📘 so, that’s like, what, 5 chickens worth?
how long til we get a McNugget Sausage… also I won’t check how many is the world record, lah.
How much is a McNugget? Is it about thirty grammes?
Wikipedia to the rescue! McNuggets average 16.2 grammes. Walky has eaten nearly four kilos of breading, grease, and reconstituted chicken slurry.
That’s potentially 3-5 chickens worth of meat depending on size
How much slurry?
how much do you want, love?
Team Consequence on the wrong end of the monkey’s paw
Sometimes I wish I still had Walky’s metabolism, though even then I don’t envy his digestive tract right now.
hmmmm
YEEEEES!!!! your prophecy unfolds!!! >:D
I headcanon this is trans girl Walky. Because i can.
Aww, that’s so adorable!
And very well drawn.
Hehe it was the first page of a NSFW comic I need to get back around to.
Oh yeah, did you ever finish fully coloring that?
Nope. Like every aspect of my life I had a lotta momentum at the start but slowly peterred out in the middle and fell off. I will absolutely get back to it though. I’m really proud of it.
It was nsfw, but the peter fell off?
Fine work.
Don’t remember if I said this when the full thing was posted, but the whole Billie/Walky thing was one excellent comic in all the right ways. It was sexy, it was sweet, it looked good, and most importantly, the character dialogue was really spot on. I’d love to see the whole sequece fully realised like that first strip.
(The fact that Walky and Billie are two of my favourites in DoA probably counts for a lot here too.)
Do you still have a link to the whole thing? I know it’s not colored of course.
Not yet but the heavy demand makes me feel like I should make one :3
This is cute.
Hey who else here had watched knights of Guinevere today?
Its good to see Dana Terrace make a show fueled by spite towards Disney and the way they treated her
The pilot was really good, looking forward to more
It was good. Very Dana Terrace. It’s shocking how high the quality of animation is regularly put out by Glitch.
Some of the voice acting was a little…mehhh though. Not bad but very “guy on the internet”-y.
I’ve got some news for you about voice actors!
I don’t see why you gotta be convinced of that. I also don’t even get what “giy from the internet” is supposed to mean here.
I just don’t relate to that felling, is all.,
The feeling of not wanting to hear the actor’s fish tank in the background in a cartoon?
I guess? It’s just not something i care about.
The animation is great, the music is phenomenal, and I’m very grabbed by the story. And I love Frankie.
Me, and it was wonderful!!! (When Disney meets Evangelion)
Very sick and cool pilot!
It’s not something I personally go through, but it’s always nice to see neuroatypical behaviors and people not be demonized or punished for having those experiences, esp the less easy to grasp or outwardly “scary” experiences.
augh wait looking back should clarify I meant that I don’t personally have schizotypal/schizophrenic symptoms, mm still very neuroatypical LOL
Always blows my mind when she chooses to be kind. This version of her needs more time on the page.
No Cmasta, the Navy can’t afford anymore ships
Billie should fuck Wally for fun.
Ah, so my guess on bsky about the next comic being him in the bathroom wasn’t actually far off
Yes good.
Still pretty hypocritical considering she tried to make it happen quite recently.
It’s literally not hypocritical to think Joe doesn’t DESERVE to be cheated on but Raidah does deserve it. It’s rude but it’s not hypocritical.
I’m pretty sure Astariel means this:
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2023/comic/book-14/01-everybodys-looking-for-nothing/unlock/
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2023/comic/book-14/01-everybodys-looking-for-nothing/entice/
What, did you want to make sure to leave “pusillanimous” open as an option for a *future* comic, Willis?
Everything is fine, nothing is the matter.
Do you think Walky learned those big words to impress Dorothy? Part of me wants to say no.
Nah.
I think what we’re seeing here (in the dark, no less) is who Walky is completely unguarded and without a metric wall of playing the idiot.
The fun part is that I’m pretty sure this isn’t unguarded Walky. It’s another mask he’s wearing over the other one because Billie knows him too well to fall for the obfuscating stupidity.
Walky’s smart. Like objectively.
Like “gets free gay pizza” smart.
The theft might’ve even been a ruse (would have been much less surprised by him coming out bi than Dorothy.)
But yes, this is a man who was able to get high grades through sheer brains alone for most of his life.
Joyce, dancing on Walky’s grave: AHHH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
I wonder if Sal was okay with Dorothy cheating on Walky because she absolutely hates them together and thinks her brother should be with someone else.
What a smart boy, I have no idea what he just said
Wait a sec, the strip when he bought the nuggets says it was Sunday. Isn’t Chick-fil-A closed on Sundays?
Walky’s a McDonald’s man.
Walky specifically refers to them as McNuggets here, the McDonalds brand of chicken nuggets, and you can specifically see the McDonalds logo in the background of the strip where he got them: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2025/comic/book-16/01-not-so-smooth-criminals/akindofchurch/

Good ol’ Jennifer. It’s so rare these two’s psuedo-sibling relationship turns friendly/supportive, and it’s life fuel when it happens.
Billie and Walky being good siblings to each other is one of my favorite things
This potential ship might not have been on my radar. Walky has always been a good friend, even if Jennifer never acknowledged it. That kind of friendship makes a solid foundation for a romantic partner. Walky would be good for her. And even if this stays a platonic, non-rule 34 sibling relationship, it would still be the healthiest relationship Jennifer has ever been/will ever be in.
Despite everything else she might be, I have to admit, Jennifer IS a good friend.
Does Walky count as a friend, or family though? Billie/Jennifer treats him more like he’s her younger brother than just a friend, and Walky treats Billie/Jennifer like his sister just like Sal.
I think it’s pretty clear they’re sibling coded but people get mad if you say that apparently.
I’m sure they themselves would be the most furious to hear them referred to as such
Too bad for them!
Walky has said it explicitly: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2020/comic/book-11/02-look-straight-ahead/comicstrip/
This is true. Billie does seem to resent it.
I don’t even think that’s the only time, honestly. I’m pretty sure there was another but I can’t remember when.
Here’s another:
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2011/comic/book-2/01-pajama-jeans/gross/
Here’s when they first met: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2022/comic/book-12/04-dont-stop-billie-ving/buttbuttbus/
yeah, I remember, I was there
How many hours since Walky found out? And why am I expecting a line of girls outside his room already?
I have bad news about your future metabolism, Walky…
Yeah especially since in this universe he doesn’t have any alien superpowers!
I was like that.
Until about my mid-late 20’s.
/sigh
a nugget sausage would be pretty gross
Makes Joyce’s reaction extra shitty in context.
Dotty doesn’t like Joe, she didn’t go out of her way to mock him and laugh at his misfortune.
I think it’s Walky’s reaction that’s going to be extra shitty.
But yeah, that was definitely a low point for Joyce.
I feel like it’s not impossible.
she got dragged out of the room halfway through breaking up with him while joyce laughed at him, making it even worse than just breaking up
And Dorothy said nothing about it.
I kind of hope so.
Dorothy and Joe have worked out their issues, remember him checking in on her and starting this whole ball rolling? I think they’ll be fine. Joe is trying to be better.
*hugs my baby boy* look at what you did dorothy, you broke it
it’s got anxiety
