The blonde hair, nerdiness, and willingness to sleep with “JD” suggests Dorothy, but the neurosis, religious upbringing, and hesitance to curse suggest Joyce.
Sarah’s expression makes me think Joyce’s shipping of those two might actually be founded on something other than subtle racism.
Also, SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DRAW THAT.
I’ve never found him all that attractive (which is funny given my Gravatar). Granted that’s not really surprising seeing as he’s a character in a webcomic.
Yeah, I’ve never found him even noticeable, let alone hot. Personal preferences and all that. When he first appeared in Shortpacked I assumed he was so lusted after because he was the only available straight guy.
I don’t think it’s going to make a difference to Ethan. He doesn’t appear to have a crush on Jacob, he’s just responding to him as an attractive guy who’s living in the same room, and Jacob getting a girlfriend isn’t going to change that.
No, Joyce happened to be right, but shipped them for the wrong reasons. Notice no particular interest on Jacob’s part. Remember the complete inability of Joyce to give a reason the two fit.
I think it is a harmless thing and this is an intriguing story-line that explores more of Sarah. And in this case being right for the wrong reasons should detract from Joyce, but at the same time no credit there.

I think others would have understood it from the conversation they had when Joyce found out Walky would be sleeping over at Dorothy’s. They also had a conversation about lust and all.
But it’s hard to figure what Joyce would have gotten out of the conversations.
I don’t know why but I love this strip so much. It shows a normal college kids life talking with each others and sharing anecdotes. With DoA drama tag is in full gear recently this strip is pretty refreshing.
Because of that, you can relate to the characters and stories.
For long term continuity, overly dramatic and fantastic story lines can go off the rails without skillful writing and direction. It can still work, but on the other hand look at the end run of ER where they kept on trying to top the over blown drama of the previous week. Really, a tank? A helicopter crashing right there?
Here the only fantastic elements are Walky and Ethan being in shape in spite of being geek couch potatoes and Sarah’s nemesii eating at the dorm cafeterias in spite of otherwise acting like trust fund babies. Even that is somewhat in service to the story.
She is the best socialized of her home schooling group.
But as down as I’ve been on the character, I admit she is slowly changing. And she is realizing there is stuff to learn.
Hopefully it builds up to the point that one little Mike Gambit sets off cathartic growth.
Danny’s dream requires no agency – just that being in love was all that matters and he gets carried through.
Even his fantasy of dating superheroine and regular girl and finding out they are one and the same requires little agency. Though he actively avoided the opportunity.

And I’m not sure just what is up with Dorothy? Is she trying to stick a wedge between Joe and Jacob, using Danny? And if so, why? She can’t still be harboring feels for Danny. She trying to embarrass Joe? She doesn’t really like Joe all that well, so maybe.
Reminds me of my mother who always managed to tell these type of embarrassing stories of my childhood, to whoever would listen.

I expect she’ll have a double standard where she’ll accept Dorothy for it but not Joe, but we’ll see.
I think others would have understood it from the conversation they had when Joyce found out Walky would be sleeping over at Dorothy’s. They also had a conversation about lust and all.
But it’s hard to figure what Joyce would have gotten out of the conversations.
I don’t know why but I love this strip so much. It shows a normal college kids life talking with each others and sharing anecdotes. With DoA drama tag is in full gear recently this strip is pretty refreshing.
Because of that, you can relate to the characters and stories.
For long term continuity, overly dramatic and fantastic story lines can go off the rails without skillful writing and direction. It can still work, but on the other hand look at the end run of ER where they kept on trying to top the over blown drama of the previous week. Really, a tank? A helicopter crashing right there?
Here the only fantastic elements are Walky and Ethan being in shape in spite of being geek couch potatoes and Sarah’s nemesii eating at the dorm cafeterias in spite of otherwise acting like trust fund babies. Even that is somewhat in service to the story.
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dorothy smile that wide before.
See, Joyce, this is how non-crazy people interact.
She is the best socialized of her home schooling group.
But as down as I’ve been on the character, I admit she is slowly changing. And she is realizing there is stuff to learn.
Hopefully it builds up to the point that one little Mike Gambit sets off cathartic growth.

The smack is also limitless when it comes to Danny.
Interesting that even Joe talks about Danny having his virginity taken, like he has no agency or control. But he knows Danny very well.
I’ve got a feeling it went something like this, anyway.
Danny’s dream requires no agency – just that being in love was all that matters and he gets carried through.
Even his fantasy of dating superheroine and regular girl and finding out they are one and the same requires little agency. Though he actively avoided the opportunity.
Also, does Willis live on the West Coast or does he stay up til 3 am reading comments?

Hmm… Joe and Danny riding a “dragon.” Billie’s high school mascot was a dragon. My mind somehow made the leap that in the drawing Joe and Danny are “riding” Billie in that drawing.
