Actually no, that’s not a shortpacked comic. I actually saw that as an ad for this site on a different webcomic. I think it might be a rejected comic idea that Willis did or one he just did for an advertisement.
Yes, of course. In this universe they try to be more discrete about their inclinations, and so they’re purposefully walking off in separate directions, trying to act as if they’re not hooking up for some hot pre-marital hanky-panky later.
I think all college campuses are designed using non-Euclidean geometry. We had a staircase we called the ‘M.C. Escher Memorial Staircase’ – it had an odd hidden switchback to it that meant it was about two flights longer than it looked like from the top or bottom.
All I know is that if you drop a super bouncy-ball made in the 1950’s (The Space Age) down the stairwell shaft from the 11th floor of the RLM building at the University of Texas, it will bounce back up to the 9th floor, but if you do the same with a bouncy-ball made in the 1990’s (The Grunge Era) it will only reach the 6th, maaayyybe 7th floor. Sounds like proof enough to me.
The University of Texas is a prime example! No matter where you are or where you’re going, your destination is always uphill. It’s like the hills shift around you.
Meanwhile, Baylor has a system of mostly unnavigated tunnels, canals, and such under campus and is rumored to have a room resembling black and white patterned hallway in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It serves no purpose.
OH SWEET! No Danny/ Joyce at all! Nice! (No Danny/Sal would be nice, too, but thats not my main concern atm…I actually wanna see Amber and Danny give a relationship a try just to know how they would suit each other.)
Huh…INTERESTING…I love this, hes a bumbling idiot when Dorothy arrives but back to normal when shes outta eye-sight/ear-shot! (Which makes me wonder if he took notes during class or missed something important hes going to have to ask Joyce about, causing them to have to spend more time together…)
Oh, no no, I didn’t mean THIS SPECIFIC class session, I meant in the future if he goes Ga Ga eye’d for Dorothy every class and doesn’t take notes and such.
I’ll always be a fan of Joyce x Walky, and find their relationship in this universe refreshing as opposed to the main Walkyverse where Walky was crushing on Joyce from day 1 (their romance was still complicated and awesome despite the immediate love, Go Willis!) and I kinda hope Dorothy develops something and it becomes a sort of rivalry (because they’re both good people and honestly every love rivalry I’ve seen is a good person vs. a bad person…Willis is a talented writer as well as artist, so if he decided they go down that path it will be an epic love story without cheesiness or gush and if not there will be an alternative just as good.)
I don’t know; sure I can see the pairing with her looking like Dorothy and having helped him out, but I’m too much a fan of Amber/Mike to accept other relations for them.
That’s kind of sad. I half expected them to become best friends right off the bat. But then again it took a LOOOONG time for them to even meet in the first plot line.

Last panel, 4th row, has a house that is uphill both ways. Interesting design, and Walky is exactly the sort of person to pick a dorm with a fire pole.
It’s funny, actually. I think it’s pretty interesting how this Walky sort of has the two extremes. I was just thinking “Hang on, Walky is openly savvy in this universe, that’s odd”, and then a girl he likes shows up and he’s a blithering idiot.
This could make a for an interesting experiment. Testing how social skils and intellect can lower and raise up when you add and remove Dorothy from Walky’s presence.
I’m guessing this is going to be one of those unrequited love stories and then ends up with Walky finally moving on after years of embarassment, at which point Dorothy realized that she likes him, but it’s too late.
Unless that already happened in the original comics, because if so then Willis will probably do something different. But again, I haven’t read them all yet.
Something about Joyce calling out somebody as ‘defective’ seems…strange and yet, satisfying. She’s probably just jealous she’s not the one to break his mind.
today in #9chickweedlane i learned we have to be shown children learning and relearning what sex is, for Reasons, even though they already clearly know and have prepared nuanced questions about it!
also that Gran must hate, if she's still alive, how Old Juliette is the same but with gray hair
one of my favorite things is when a commenter explodes WHEN DO THESE CHARACTERS GET THERAPY but directed towards a character who canonically has a regular therapist

btw if you're one of those rando bluesky weirdos who doesn't know me but sees me in the wild being sarcastic and don't know i'm being sarcastic because you haven't taken like 30 seconds to, like, maybe look at my user profile or something, keep walking, you're not going to score internet points here
Here's an entertaining cite at the bottom of the first page

Where did Hollywood go so wrong? I thought movies were supposed to be an escape from reality, a chance to put your worries aside and not have to think about any underlying ideas or concepts. Well, not anymore.
theonion.com/you-can...
It's not a new argument, of course, but Chesterton dismissed it effectively in 1908.
"You will hear everlastingly... this argument that the rich man cannot be bribed. The fact is, of course, that the rich man is bribed; he has been bribed already. That is why he is a rich man."

Hawley dismisses Trump lining his pockets with his memecoin: "Listen, I think nobody believes that Donald Trump can be bought. I mean, what does Donald Trump need more money for?"
wilbur, savvy enough to know he's in a comic strip but still not a great actor, awkwardly lifts a muffin up into frame so that we, the audience, understand that he has a muffin right now, which is very important narratively, but he's not really selling it well as an organic, human action
Kettle, you so BLACK!
That’s racist.
Er, wait, what’s up with your icon? X.x Did I miss a comic or something?
Could be Willis added it as a gravatar just to mess with us… yet again.
But Joebo’s always been seen using a personal gravatar.
Guess it’ll be tomorrow’s page and Willis uploaded it prematurely.
I hope for Maggie’s sake that’s not the norm.
See Ethan’s shirt? It’s from Shortpacked! Can’t tell you which comic, though from the hair and glasses, post-makeover.
(Whyyyy do I notice these things?)
Actually no, that’s not a shortpacked comic. I actually saw that as an ad for this site on a different webcomic. I think it might be a rejected comic idea that Willis did or one he just did for an advertisement.
Stole it from a banner ad on QC’s page.
Jen’s referring to the expression:
“The pot calling the kettle black”
Hmm maybe we could come up with a less racially loaded expression to say the same thing. “The cocaine calling the snow white”?
HOW BLACK IS-wait. Don’t answer that.
Yay Escher reference!
And just like that, he’s back. Walky, never change.
Unless it’s into a bumbling idiot like we saw before, that was hilarious.
“I GIVE HIM TO YOU!”
Okay, “I GIVE IT TO YOU” was pretty damn funny. Every time Walky sees Dorothy, he should totally break out a variant of that phrase.
Or “PLEASE ACCEPT THIS!”
Hn. Kinda figured Roz and Joe would leave together, not seperately.
They’re going to be meeting up secretly later.
Yes, of course. In this universe they try to be more discrete about their inclinations, and so they’re purposefully walking off in separate directions, trying to act as if they’re not hooking up for some hot pre-marital hanky-panky later.
Maybe in this universe, Roz isn’t a slutty, manipulative bongo, but instead a decent person.
…or maybe she’s gay in this universe.
or both!
That wouldn’t stop Joe from at least wanting to watch.
Speaking of which, are we going to see Daisy in DOA?
…For a minute there, I thought you meant Daisy from the Mario games.
And now I’m Leslie, asking if another lesbian character from the Walkyverse is going to be on DOA. Hilarious

Fact: college campuses are built on a different plane of reality.

This is why I’m glad I go to college in the city. It’s all flatland.
What city would that be?
Chicago.
OH SWEET! No Danny/ Joyce at all! Nice! (No Danny/Sal would be nice, too, but thats not my main concern atm…I actually wanna see Amber and Danny give a relationship a try just to know how they would suit each other.)

There are very few intro freshman level classes that need you to take notes on the first day.
Oh, no no, I didn’t mean THIS SPECIFIC class session, I meant in the future if he goes Ga Ga eye’d for Dorothy every class and doesn’t take notes and such.
Just because it’s not happening now doesn’t mean anything
Give them time.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF—- This is true, Amber x Mike is pretty awesome! D: *considers rethinking her position* hmm…
Wait, are Joyce and Walky buddies now or do they just happen to be standing next to each other?
They didn’t show much liking for each other as of yet.
That’s kind of sad. I half expected them to become best friends right off the bat. But then again it took a LOOOONG time for them to even meet in the first plot line.
Walky’s eye’s in panel 2 are giving me the creeps.
http://www.viruscomix.com/page533.html
Last panel, 4th row, has a house that is uphill both ways. Interesting design, and Walky is exactly the sort of person to pick a dorm with a fire pole.
Could Galasso be the Counselor Dorothy must see? >->
Better yet, Conquest.
It’s funny, actually. I think it’s pretty interesting how this Walky sort of has the two extremes. I was just thinking “Hang on, Walky is openly savvy in this universe, that’s odd”, and then a girl he likes shows up and he’s a blithering idiot.
I’d just like to mention that I’m reading a comic posted in the future, because, by my clock, it’s still 11:50 on Monday. Just saying.
I have to go to work and back uphill both ways. It starts downhill, but ends uphill, so by the time you’re tired it’s uphill.
Is that Roz? This does not bode well.
AAA! WHY AM I HER! WHY AM I HER!!!
*snicker*
What’s wrong with Joyce? Am I missing something here?
and yet it still sounds like a joyce’ish thing to say
I think he was just surprised. Had settled on a Gravatar, grown to love it, and then been parted.
Ever noticed how Walky looks like a Bulbasaur when Dorothy is around? lol
“Walky-Saur! Walky! Walky!”*
*Translated as “Coooooool I’m a Pokemon!”
What type would Walky be?
This could make a for an interesting experiment. Testing how social skils and intellect can lower and raise up when you add and remove Dorothy from Walky’s presence.
I’m guessing this is going to be one of those unrequited love stories and then ends up with Walky finally moving on after years of embarassment, at which point Dorothy realized that she likes him, but it’s too late.
Unless that already happened in the original comics, because if so then Willis will probably do something different. But again, I haven’t read them all yet.
That is basically what happened with Walky and Joyce
Yeah…as Aesir said, its kinda already been done.. D:
But I’m sure what will happen will be just as good! o:
Why isn’t Panel 2 Walky an avatar? It should totally be an avatar.
Lolz for Walky now finding his tongue.
Something about Joyce calling out somebody as ‘defective’ seems…strange and yet, satisfying. She’s probably just jealous she’s not the one to break his mind.
Are we bringing that phrase back now? I thought it died in the 80’s or 90’s…
I may or may not also be experimenting with gravatars during this trip down the threads…
My college campus was the same way. Except it was in West Virginia, so it was uphill both ways in the snow.
Pretty sure Indiana gets snow, too (at least, it did when I was a kid.) It’ll be years before we get to winter at this rate, though.
indiana gets snow, ice, hail, tornadoes, below 0 degrees and above 90, it should be called the crazy weather state.
Just another reason I’m glad I’m going to school here in the flat lands of Illinois.
There are a few Escher paintings I think would make for great housing.
I love it when he’s like O _ O
Walky’s gonna hurt his lip, biting it for hours like that.
I love how his lovestruckness just wears off, like it’s a drug or something.
Aha! Finally dug in the archive and found the source…
(The place I work is a lot like that as well, and it hasn’t got any better since the recent rebuild…)
WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION, WALKY?! WHAT, YOUR PARENTS NOT GIVE YOU ENOUGH EXURSIZE AS A KID!?
Man, I just started to read Dumbing of Age, and I can’t help to wonder why the fuck I didn’t start reading it earlier.
I’m also surprised the comments here don’t use disqus, like over on Shortpacked!.
The look on Walky’s face (or should I say FAAAAAAACE!) in the second panel is hilarious.
I love these two together and will never stop.
If they don’t end up together in 10 years I will be sore in the booty region.
