Hmmm, so both Joyce and Walky wind up recruiting more sensible people to help them.
I’m gonna bet on the dark horse outcome and say that at the end Dorothy and Lucy both get fed up with the bullshit, collaborate together, and create an awesome comic.
Real talk I just have been in the mood for drawin’ big honkin’ boobs and B-Jennifer is my go to in that regard. though I’d be up for takin’ a crack at other DOA gals too if y’all have a request
It’s funny Amber was who I originally wanted to draw, although I may have to do a flashback Amber cuz she’s kinda intense right now. Then again I could probably figure something out.
Awww cute! It really is commendable how you straight up remembered that Lucy and Jennifer live together as opposed to having randomly drawn them together. Well done
Why is Jennifer all sweaty? Not that there needs to be a reason.
You ask for requests? How about some Marcie & Malaya?
My logic is that Jen was wearing a jacket outside but then she walked into the dorms which have a lotta people and central heating and slowly started getting a bit hot until she made it to the room. Y’know to facilitate the jacket removal.
This continues being a beautiful meta loop, thank you.
So yeah, Dorothy the other known comics and cartoons afficionado is either going to be amazing at this or a shitshow.
… So uh. How about Jennifer deciding her only way into the paper is by drawing the exploits of Ronnie, Sassy Reporter and Superheroine, who gives you campus news with a side of superhero action and she just so happens to have a (tasteful, not at all transparently an attempt to appeal to the editor) cleavage window?
Has Joyce mentioned a title for her comic? Might I suggest “Fifty Shades of Gray”… ? Then, since Joe is no longer with us, let’s see which one of the cast has the heart to burst her bubble by telling her about the book of the same name.
I’m expecting the acceptance letter from Yale, Harvard or whatever Ivy League school it is to come up and for Dorothy to start getting really agitated at the thought that Joyce just sees her in terms of her political ambitions. Joyce doesn’t see her that way, of course but it’s the impression that Dorothy fears and Joyce has inadvertently reinforced the impression that it is currently choking their friendship and will ultimately ruin it.
Damn, if I had known the trick to getting the job you want was to introduce yourself that way I’d have introduced myself as “Future Spider-man” years ago
You know what they say..
Be the change you wish to see.
Don’t put off till tomorrow, what you can do today.
Spider-man it up now, before it’s too late.
Something tells me that this script session is going to rapidly go beyond a discussion of Joyce’s writing technique and into feelings. Most importantly, not just Julia and Doris’s feelings.
I think it’s pretty clear that Joyce has at least some romantic feelings for Dorothy that she either hasn’t fully recognized or is in deep denial over, and I really hope that she comes to a point where she’s able to confess her feelings to her. What’s less clear to me is whether Dorothy would feel the same way. She told Walky that she “loved Joyce”, but given that she was talking about how “love evolves” and how she would always love Walky in some way even if they broke up, it’s not entirely clear what “loving Joyce” means to her. She also told Danny the day after that exchange that as far as she could tell she was a zero on the Kinsey scale, though a) she acknowledged that her estimate might change and b) there’s a lot of stuff the Kinsey scale doesn’t take into account.
Considering Willis had already written and drawn the next few months worth of comics, I don’t think that’s very likely – which is good because I’m starting to root for Joyce too
I’m enjoying seeing Joyce’s comic strip idea, but I still kinda hope Walky gets it since he seems to need something sorta productive like this more than Joyce does.
walky was racing his sportscar along the highway when he veers into the other lane in the path of a monster truck…
suddenly miracuwoman swoops in on a jetpack and uses her super strength to push him out of the way. she yells “DERIVE YOUR INTEGRAL. NO REFUNDS!” into her megaphone before the truck hits her.
she’s fine cuz superpowers though
Joyce is responsible for Julia’s character, and Dorothy is responsible for Doris. I assume both of them will be a tiny bit autobiographical. So, how long will it take for them to realize that they are essentially writing a fan-fic of themselves?
Joyce’s art is surprisingly reminiscent of a student comic that actually ran in my school paper at ASU back in the early 2000s. Joe Bowen I think was the artist/writer.
I get the impression that Julia and Doris’s friendship basically couldn’t survive the chain of command. When Doris becomes president (and Julia’s commander-in-chief) they’ll not be able get over that formal distance and relationship.
I read it as just an awkward shoehorning of another reminder that Doris’ defining characteristic is that she’s going to be the President, but all of this is entirely possible.
The walls separating the diverse metafictional realities are so bent that seepage is going through: Doris is alerting Joyce through Julia that her friendship with Dorothy may not survive after she transfers to Yale.
Once Dorothy gets the message (as she will, she’s so bright) a hole will be open to alternate universes and a dinosaur will come out of it, farted by a giant monkey.
Don’t burn through all your worldbuilding and backstory too fast, Joyce. You might have to make Julia start fighting aliens or something right after graduation if you’re not careful.
For extra pathos, have the invasion happen during Julia’s wedding to her college crush, Jonathan (Jacob expy) and her to be this stone-hearted warrior from then on. Then you can entertain yourself with Doris trying to find “the loving woman I once knew” inside humanity’s sword and shield.
Jacob can’t become Jonathan. Jonathan is the sibling Joyce hates. (He can’t share either other sibling’s name (not even Joss’s deadname), either, because that’d be weird.)
So what happens when Doris becomes the President? Do they get into giant mechas and go at each other because Doris betrayed the principles of Democracy or something?
But remember Joyce: even though NOW you’re thinking of Julia as the autobiographical character, when you do the reboot the autobio character will be the one who was obsessed with Julia romantically in the original!
Optimus Prime broke down and cried on the set of "Transformers" (2007) due to the extensive use of green screen filming. He reportedly said, "This is not why I became an actor."
“I’m just going to say it, shame on any of us who throws a trans child under the bus for thinking they’re going to get elected. That child deserves our support. Don’t worry about the pollsters calling it distractions, because we need to be the party of human dignity.”
Minnesota Star Tribune@startribune.com ⋅ 2d
Gov. Tim Walz is doubling down on trans rights — and criticizing members of his party who are retreating — at a time when the issue has become a political lightning rod nationally and back home in Minnesota.
they managed to get the arms and thighs to be different grays, which I wasn't sure they'd be able to do, the way the mold's set up
though maybe they're just producing a lot of extra thighs and/or arms in the wrong colors and throwing those away, i dunno
Dorothy will show you how it is done Joyce. Which makes me feel that Joyce will get the spot as comic writer.
Daisy: Joyce, why does your comic contain a 4000 word essay on income inequality?
Joyce: Because 4000 is all my co-writer could fit in the gutters between the panels…She has some really fine-tipped pens.
Mmm-mmm-mm.
That there are some fine tips on those there pens.
If Dorothy gets involved in this my head will explode at the distribution of work toward payment ratio!
hooray for Design by Committee
eventually both comics are handed off until they are drawn exclusively by Carla(‘s art automaton) and Mary
JoyDot teamup! Yay!
Did anyone have money on Joyce/Dorothy as a possible collab?
Maybe in a Slipshine.
heyo
I’ve never been big on girl-girl porn, but I might sign up for Joyce on Dorothy.
April Fool’s a few years ago.
Hmmm, so both Joyce and Walky wind up recruiting more sensible people to help them.
I’m gonna bet on the dark horse outcome and say that at the end Dorothy and Lucy both get fed up with the bullshit, collaborate together, and create an awesome comic.
“collab” ah is that what they’re calling it nowadays? :3
Ohhhh, this is gonna be hilarious.

I drew another thing. Starring Jen n Lucy who I DEFINITELY remembered are roommates.
Real talk I just have been in the mood for drawin’ big honkin’ boobs and B-Jennifer is my go to in that regard.
though I’d be up for takin’ a crack at other DOA gals too if y’all have a requestWife saw that, says to me “I’m so glad you don’t care about those”.
It’s a curse. I’m obsessed. Don’t be like me. And if you are like me, stop it.
https://www.girlswithslingshots.com/comic/gws-chaser-1560
Gosh, Jamie from GWS was a pretty big comic crush of mine back in the day. For…obvious reasons. It’s crazy to think that I’ve never drawn her.
1.) Lucy, c’mon, this is GOOD ADVICE. LISTEN TO JENNIFER. Even if you don’t have all her talent, what you got can win!
2.) I know it’s a basic answer but some Amber content is always nice, for a request
It’s funny Amber was who I originally wanted to draw, although I may have to do a flashback Amber cuz she’s kinda intense right now. Then again I could probably figure something out.
Oh, absolutely, flashback or “what if Walky and Amber worked out their issues and got their bone on” or something.
If you’re open to requests, might I suggest Ruth? She’s not especially stacked, though.
Draw NightGirl!
You’re finally back with more fanart? It’s been 84 years…..
I did one of Robin like 4 days ago too
https://imgur.com/a/QgoXQbK (NSFW). Don’t get used to it. I’m just doing it so people will compliment me.
I hope its working, thats very good.
It is now :3
That does seem to have been drawn directly from one Leslie’s daydreams.
Awww cute! It really is commendable how you straight up remembered that Lucy and Jennifer live together as opposed to having randomly drawn them together. Well done
Why is Jennifer all sweaty? Not that there needs to be a reason.

My logic is that Jen was wearing a jacket outside but then she walked into the dorms which have a lotta people and central heating and slowly started getting a bit hot until she made it to the room. Y’know to facilitate the jacket removal.
Nicely done, and definitely cute. I forgot Lucy and Jennifer are roommates.
Gonna upvote it in advance even though I’m at work and some of your best stuff is NSFW.
Let Lucy Say Golly
*plays The Grateful Dead’s “Touch of Grey” on the hacked Muzak*
Always thought that Julia Grey
Was kind OP anyway
That was all I had to say, hope
It’s all right
that was easy!
I think Jen’s attention is too focused on her no good very bad plan to hook up her boss with her ex
She’s got (probably) all week. That gives us time for the Daisy-Ruth hookup to be an immediate disaster and Jennifer to reassess.
Has Joyce mentioned a title for her comic? Might I suggest “Fifty Shades of Gray”… ? Then, since Joe is no longer with us, let’s see which one of the cast has the heart to burst her bubble by telling her about the book of the same name.
…Joe is still alive, last I checked.
You’re right … I meant Mike.
Oh, you checked, did you?
:marks in another roman numeral on Joe’s “Done” tracker:
Take it from Willis, Joyce: the best way to start a comic is with a poop joke.
Not only that, the next-to-last panel of the first strip of this comic has no dialog.
Love the detail of the anime side mouths.
10/10; would read for the next 20 years.
Dorothy is going in!
Here we go.
Question is, is she gonna go around the front, or over the top?
Always go over the top.
There is only one you. You are a unique individual, and no one else can be you. So you should always be yourself.
Unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman.
Bold of you to assume I can’t be myself and be Batman.
But does Spider-Man get paid for being Spider-Man? Therefore, it’s not a job! QED.
He gets paid to take pictures of himself being Spider-Man. I think that would qualify him being Spider-Man as his job, albeit in a roundabout way.
Unfortunately that won’t get you the superhero gig, but instead the Spider equivalent to a cat lady
well Joyce, the issue’s clear… you forgot the panel without words
It’s the lesbian kiss.
*reads it as Gravyverse* welp that’s what it is to me for the rest of time.
Something tells me that this script session is going to rapidly go beyond a discussion of Joyce’s writing technique and into feelings. Most importantly, not just Julia and Doris’s feelings.
Their clearly platonic feelings, of course.
Confession: I voted Walky in the poll and I regret it like hell. Willis, never stop dunking on Roomies. This is amazing.
Too late – if Walky gets the job, we all know who to blame
I didn’t even notice there was a poll about it.
I kinda hope Willis doesn’t actually go by the poll’s results. Walky seems to be winning there, and that’s a travesty.
Considering Willis had already written and drawn the next few months worth of comics, I don’t think that’s very likely – which is good because I’m starting to root for Joyce too
I don’t think these polls are used for determining major story beats
I’m enjoying seeing Joyce’s comic strip idea, but I still kinda hope Walky gets it since he seems to need something sorta productive like this more than Joyce does.
I voted walky because I’m always rooting for that cheeseball. I regret nothing, I hope he gets the job.
Me, the pedantic fool: “Shouldn’t it not be ‘Grayverse’, but rather named after a character who has yet to be introduced into the comic?
“Also, why do I hear the sound of a truck backing up behind me?”
walky was racing his sportscar along the highway when he veers into the other lane in the path of a monster truck…
suddenly miracuwoman swoops in on a jetpack and uses her super strength to push him out of the way. she yells “DERIVE YOUR INTEGRAL. NO REFUNDS!” into her megaphone before the truck hits her.
she’s fine cuz superpowers though
people ask miracuwoman what she meant to say and she’s like “idk, i couldn’t think of anything. but it sounded cool, right?”
This is really building anticipation for Walky’s comic about the guy who every day he farts and rides a T-Rex.
JOYCE: “Where’s your comic, Walky?”
WALKY: “I… I still haven’t finished the first strip.”
JOYCE: “What? Dorothy and I are plotting out season 2 of my comic! What happened?”
WALKY (looks down in shame): “I… I couldn’t decide on what to call the dinosaur, let alone on whether he farts too.”
How come I didn’t notice the “Brown” signature in yesterday’s strip?
because it was next to shadows and in the corner?
Joyce is responsible for Julia’s character, and Dorothy is responsible for Doris. I assume both of them will be a tiny bit autobiographical. So, how long will it take for them to realize that they are essentially writing a fan-fic of themselves?
Dorothy already knows. Joyce is in denial about it.
I dunno, I think Joyce is perfectly aware of it but just doesn’t want to admit it.
Dorothy knows from the beginning. Joyce? About the same time she suggests the two characters should kiss.
I am just wondering if Julia could have been more ‘Hello, stranger, I am immediately attracted to you’ in her body language?
Joyce’s art is surprisingly reminiscent of a student comic that actually ran in my school paper at ASU back in the early 2000s. Joe Bowen I think was the artist/writer.
“UNTIL I’m President”? So, Doris plans to cut Julia loose after the election? Harsh, but then that’s politics for ya…
I think that it’s just pretty bad foreshadowing.

Once Dorothy gets the message (as she will, she’s so bright) a hole will be open to alternate universes and a dinosaur will come out of it, farted by a giant monkey.
And then:
SOGGIES MAY RULE.
Is Joyce and Dorothy’s friendship in danger???
Gotta have tension, dude.
Then you can entertain yourself with Doris trying to find “the loving woman I once knew” inside humanity’s sword and shield.
oh no, do we need another set of J names for joe, jacob, and julia gray’s siblings??
Jacob can’t become Jonathan. Jonathan is the sibling Joyce hates. (He can’t share either other sibling’s name (not even Joss’s deadname), either, because that’d be weird.)
i think that’s john
Plot twist: this is all just Willis relearning how to draw the Roomies! artstyle in preparation for next year’s 25th Anniversary Slipshine.
I read that as Gravyverse. And now I’m kind of disappointed it isn’t that!
Soggies may rule…
So what happens when Doris becomes the President? Do they get into giant mechas and go at each other because Doris betrayed the principles of Democracy or something?
Doris becomes president and Julia becomes the First Bestie Of the President
But remember Joyce: even though NOW you’re thinking of Julia as the autobiographical character, when you do the reboot the autobio character will be the one who was obsessed with Julia romantically in the original!
her stalker Denny
wow, this feels like a blast from the past. Reminds me of Willis’s early work.
No resemblance at all. Brown is clearly a much better artist.
I have just realised that Space Force is a real thing now, and not just a feature of the Hollywood sci-fi consensus.
