You, Teach, are the first comment on the first strip of the entire Dumbing of Age universe. Thousands of people read your words as the very first DoA comment they read. Congratulations.
I feel nostalgic rereading this comment.
I first read it a year back, before I knew ANYTHING about the Walkyverse. And it was such a weird experience, reading all three, seeing the stories mix and mingle, characters leaving and coming back… it was a fun ride.
And this was the first comment I read for this incredible cartoonist.
Wow.
So this is what im thinking Mr. Creator (AKA David). I think this entire webcomic is infact reference the ending in Its Walky where Joyce wonders if they still would have ended up together under entirely different cercumstances “like at college or something”.
Again, you may delete this if you wish.
I just finished reading pretty much everything you’ve put on the internet that doesn’t require a PayPal (took me about two ‘n a half months) and something just occured to me: when the interdimensional Head Alien was talking to Dorothy about a universe where Walky became a doctor and married her and all, that was *this* universe wasn’t it? Nicely done, Mr. Willis.
Not sure what is happening it looks like it has character from itswalky(roomies) and all but its a new time line? I havent been following the comic in quite a few years but stumbled upon this… is there some sort of timeline/explanation of whats going on or does the previous/current story lines explain it with in the stories :D.
Basically, it’s an alternate universe, but here, it isn’t quite a “what if” scenario like I (and a few others…they exist) thought it was. Basically, everyone from every comic series is in college, co-existing, as the same actors from a different show, only typecasted.
I just clicked an ad that brought me to the first strip, and wow has the art evolved since then. It’s not as noticeable as say early and late It’s Walky! strips but quite impressive nonetheless. Doubt many people will read this but it’s worth stating.
I lucked up on this strip. It is the greatest! I have spent the better part of the last 8 or 9 hrs. reading this, can’t stop. I am a big Daria fan and this is an equal. This strip could easily be made into a toon with the right voices for TV. Can’t wait to see what other stuff Dave has written.
I’ve been caught up for a while, but I had to say this to somebody.
I don’t know why, but I wasn’t expecting much from the start; maybe the artwork and strip format turned me off a little, making me think it was far more generic a series than it actually is (I wouldn’t know why I’d subconsciously think this; I came here at the suggestion of T. Campbell, and his stuff is far removed from mediocrity)? But any doubts I had were proved wrong soon enough, and I’m glad for that.
I’ve been searching for slice-of-life webcomics for a while, now, and this series is simply phenomenal. You treat your characters with an understanding that makes the strip feel more authentic, and that’s simply treasurable. Thank you, Willis, for this.
Also, my gravatar is apparently Sarah, and that’s fucking rockin’.
Wow, just doing an archive dive, and noticed that people are still posting on this page. Also noticed that I didn’t post here when the strip started, bad me.
It’s interesting to come back to this page these early pages and see how Willis drew Joyce and the rest of the cast then compared to now (four years later).
To think I started this comic a number of months ago & I still have much to catch up with. Definitely one of the more interesting comics I’m reading at the moment.
I love just lazing in bed, and alternating between re-reading all of Dumbing of Age on my phone, and then doing the same with my laptop when my phone battery dies.

Future report no. 1: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, this is Rani ——–, reporting to you now from the Dumbing Of Age strip Crazy. My fellow readers and novices, we are at war. Not against a maniacal super-villain. Not against a mere asshole. We are at war against an army of fundamentalists who would make IU unsafe for decent people. Fear, intimidation, a conspicuous lack of neck, violence. These are the tools of this nefarious scoundrel known as the moral values crusader.
Oppression and obsession are the currency of these reprobates, cranks and misogynists as they struggle for control of our nation’s students.
Both ———- and ———- are committed to this battle, which they must and will win.
This has been Rani ——–, broadcasting from October 20th, 2015
Becky was the first character to say something in this comic, and she’s the first to appear when reading left to right
i guess she’s the main character then. I wonder how often she’s be appearing.
In case you’re here because you just noticed that there’s alt text (or hovertext if you prefer) for every comic and you want to read them all, the first one is here, two and a half years after the comic began:
starting it off with a poop joke. classy

Wow.
Poop jokes. Hah.
no better way to inagurate a place!
What about sex?
Touche sir
She doesn’t know what that is yet in this universe.
Yet.
Dude! Your name is one letter away from my (real life) name! Lolz!
About this comic: Looks good!
Home = Where you poop. It’s a saying around here…
I refer to David, eh? The ‘nesting’ doesn’t make that clear…
Just testing…
Yes! It works!
A webcomic with a main page that links to the first comic. I like that. I actually wish more webcomics would do that.
Seconded.
Poop is cheaper than Champagne after all.
Poop is, in fact, the answer to all your problems.
Same with monkeys
Poop and monkeys are the best combonation of things. XD
And so it begins…
cool this started on my birthday
The Beginning always a good place to start I think. Yeah this was just an excuse to get my name remembered on here.
This reminds me of the comic of Winnie the poop.
Oh Bother!
This first comic needs more attention.
So I’ll just say hello to the strip. ENJOY YOUR ETENITY IN ARCHIVE HELL MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
…but no, seriously, enjoy yourselves.
Frack. Eternity. Not etenity. Whatever that is.

You got it backwards!
Thank you. I was always wondering about that.
Does that mean that this was envisioned first?
(not that it really weighs heavily on me, I like all your continuities)

No. It is a universe that you see in the pay only Joyce and Walky! comics. It is almost the same as the normal Walkyverse. But with some differences
this looks like a good comic, and its helping me figure out this gravatar thing to!!!
thats pretty cool

I hope Becky moves to IU

DAMN YOU WILLIS!
Already passes the Bechdel test. Good start.
Two named female characters talking to each other about pooping …

Not much, /co/mrade.

I just realized. Right out of the gate, this series passes the Bechdel Test.

Oh, how the times go.
I like Joyce
She’s nice
To think I started this comic a number of months ago & I still have much to catch up with. Definitely one of the more interesting comics I’m reading at the moment.
Is it okay to re read this a fourth time?
It will never not be okay.
Only four? Pffft, amateur.
