Honestly I don’t understand any of the character hate around here. All of everyone’s hate characters tend to be the most fun parts of the goddamn comic.
Even then, one can like Ryan as a character while still greatly disliking the person. Hating him is kind of the point of him. He’s the kind of person who is depressingly common in real life, just exaggerated enough to make their worst qualities clear to see.
Even then, one can like Ryan as a character while still greatly disliking the person. Hating him is kind of the point of him. He’s the kind of asshole who is depressingly common in real life, just exaggerated enough to make their worst qualities clear to see.
Yeah, I agree! I mean, I can’t see any reason why so many people hate Blaine and Toedad, but I guess that’s just because the internet is hate given cyberform huh? xDDDDD trololol
She’s mostly just a downer and a mood kill. She has depths beyond that, of course, but to reach them a person has to be willing to wade past the shallow shoals of her negativity and resistance to allowing anyone to be a friend to her. And not many would do that.
If this wasn’t a comic Sarah would either be completely friendless and alone, or would be completely friendless and alone but with 5 cats.
nah, I’ve known a number of people like Sarah. People end up liking them anyway (and in some cases trying to “help” when it is unwanted) pretty similarly to the way people like and try to “help” Sarah in this comic
I like Sarah but I wish she’d stop being so aggressively cruel so often. Like, it feels like she just ignored Joyce’s whole thing about needing to do little things to show people you care and that big gestures aren’t enough on their own. I think I need to see how the whole Jacob thing continues before I finalize how I feel.
That doesn’t really apply here or back at Galasso’s where she makes funny jokes, ,
I dunno. SAW 15 wasn’t TOO bad.
Christian Slater’s always been at least a DECENT actor, and seeing what happened to Carrot Top and Pauly Shore in that movie was a hoot!
It was no Sharknado 9, but then, what IS?
You like 15? But Corey Feldman doesn’t even show up until 17!
(Note: I was going to use Macaulay Culkin for this joke, but A) he’s actually been pretty cool lately, and B) the idea of a Saw movie starring Kevin from Home Alone is actually a little too perfect.)
I’ve found the whole thing with the Nobels too hard to follow lately. Ever since the committee that awards the Peace Prize won the Economics prize because of a technical foul on the third arkle against the Chemistry Prize committee. It’s just soap opera now.
Of course it did, they used the same shark in all the movies, so it looked the same. All the repairs did was make it as good as they had it in the first movie, nobody even tried to make it look more real.
If you eat anything at all, you’re more than likely eating some garbage. Check out this list of what levels of various contaminants such as insect fragments, rodent hairs, mold levels, and other foreign matter is considered ‘acceptable’ in various foodstuffs at the FDA’s ‘Food Defect Levels Handbook’ website.
I have been wondering the same thing! Also, what happened to Danny and Joe?
The answer is probably “They haven’t done anything interesting since the last time we saw them,” but since they were at the hospital I am concerned about all three of them anyway. :/
Y’know Walky, it’d be awkward but I think you could still go for that butt squeeze. Or Amber. I’m not exactly sure who’s butt will be squeezed in this scenario.
Goddammit! I was already preparing to set the garbage roof on fire! I wanted to use my arsonist equipment, Willis! Better foreshadopw this moments of “smarting of age” before I burn down somewhere else! Oh well, I will go burn down John’s car. You don’t need a fanncy car to preach the word of god.
I’m super busy right now but I think I OWE it to you guys to draw that butt squeeze. Probably in a week or something. And you the commenters can vote on who’s butt gets squeezed along with arguments for who’s butt should be the squeezed butt.
Remember the scene at the end of ‘Justice League’ when they’re all standing on that roof watching the dust settle and the plants grow? Well, I think that this is a reference to that. At the end of a major arc with the heroes all together and drawing a breath.
I’m not happy here. The garbage roof was a thing between Amber and Walky. Before opening it to others, she should have asked for Walky’s opinion. But I love how frank she’s with him ♡.
Except Sal has found her way to Garbage roof before… as has Meredith? I kind of get what you’re getting at in terms of the special role it plays in their dynamic, but it’s a public space that others have already stumbled upon … that ship has sunk already.
I sometimes wonder what could have been if Blaine just thought to himself “Ya know what? I screwed up, may as well just accept my punishment and move on with my life” instead of what he did that fateful day.
August 12, 2013 at 12:01 am
(also ironic that he died nearly 8 years after, August 6, 2020 at 12:01 am)
Sarah is relatable.
And to think, some people don’t like her. How can they be so mistaken?
Honestly I don’t understand any of the character hate around here. All of everyone’s hate characters tend to be the most fun parts of the goddamn comic.
Right!?
Eh, it’s the internet. Hatred is a social norm at this point.
I know, right?! I don’t get why everyone hates Ryan, and why he never gets to be part of the best character poll. /troll

I mostly just hate the terrible parents, and also Mary.
Can we all agree on “Damn you Willis?”
I know, strips like this one make it hard.
nah, I’ve known a number of people like Sarah. People end up liking them anyway (and in some cases trying to “help” when it is unwanted) pretty similarly to the way people like and try to “help” Sarah in this comic

As I’ve said before, sometimes escaping from an awkward social situation takes a higher priority than having a functioning endoskeleton.
luckily, Sal’s there to show you how to navigate said quick escape route!
also, on Garbage Roof, you can totes do the butt squeeze even with other people there, why not
Sarah nooooooooo
Joyce’s grin in the last panel is a bit concerning.
No, it’s adorable. Sarah and Sal are standing around being cool, while Joyce is enjoying the view without pretense or airs.
Oh my gods Amber looks so smug and smooth in Panel 2 I love that smirk. I love it so much.
One the one hand, cool places stop being cool once too many people know about them and they become trendy.
On the other hand, one of those people is Sal, and she makes everything cool.
That Walmart parking lot? It now has a bouncer and a guest list thanks to her.
But she doesn’t go there anymore. It’s too popular.
Nah, she’s not a hipster.
The real problem is too many people, plus Malaya knows about it.
She LIKES these people.
The next book is going to open with the door to the roof being locked or alarmed.
I dunno. SAW 15 wasn’t TOO bad.
Christian Slater’s always been at least a DECENT actor, and seeing what happened to Carrot Top and Pauly Shore in that movie was a hoot!
It was no Sharknado 9, but then, what IS?
I thought Ryan Reynolds’ death in Saw 18: This Time It’s Persawnal was the best in the whole series.
Home Alone is basically Saw Zero.
A slapstick Saw movie. All the violence with none of the consequences.
I Saw what y’all did there.
Note that Mac recently (last few days) tweeted, “Want to feel old? I’m forty.”
I gave up after Saw 22, electric chainsaw Boogaloo.
Enh, nothing beats Jaws 19. It won Spielberg the Nobel Peace Prize, after all.
I’ve found the whole thing with the Nobels too hard to follow lately. Ever since the committee that awards the Peace Prize won the Economics prize because of a technical foul on the third arkle against the Chemistry Prize committee. It’s just soap opera now.
It’s always been a soap opera, you’re just finally seeing through the kayfabe.
I’m still sorry I missed “Jaws 19” back in 2015.
Shark still looked fake, though
Of course it did, they used the same shark in all the movies, so it looked the same. All the repairs did was make it as good as they had it in the first movie, nobody even tried to make it look more real.
Is this low key implying that everyone has a little garbage in them?
I mean, if you eat any seafood at all you’re totes consuming microplastics, so yeah.
Just don’t do it right after eating.
Humanity is the eleventh garbage. Because deep down, we’re all a little garbage.
I thought this was just an accepted fact?
That is the moral lesson Forky took from Toy Story 4.
There was a fourth one?
The real garbage is the friends we made along the way.
Joyce is still helping them get together I see.
I feel you Sarah, I like to have an exit strategy for any social situation.
*play’s Eric Clapton’s “Running On Faith” on the hacked Muzak*
You can see Sarah’s earbuds, but she’s listening to Bat Outta Hell.
There are far worse albums one could be listening to.
Wait, what happened to seeing Faz? Did Joyce just give up on that?
I have been wondering the same thing! Also, what happened to Danny and Joe?
The answer is probably “They haven’t done anything interesting since the last time we saw them,” but since they were at the hospital I am concerned about all three of them anyway. :/
Yeah, that’s bugging me. Like, did Sarah and Joyce find him? And how is he taking Blaine’s demise?
“Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.”
Thank you, Mr. Berra.
“Nobody drove in New York, there was too much traffic”
Great. Now they’re gonna bring their friends, and their friends are gonna bring THEIR friends…
Don’t worry, this six degrees thing eventually eats its own tail.
Hopefully garbage roof doesn’t become to crowded to enjoy anymore. They should probably find a backup garbage roof just in case though.
Y’know Walky, it’d be awkward but I think you could still go for that butt squeeze. Or Amber. I’m not exactly sure who’s butt will be squeezed in this scenario.
They just squeeze each other butts to see who’s better.
I’m biased but I’d say Amber’s got one of the tip top best butts in the whole comic.
THE best.
Counterpoint: Walky’s butt is very round. He’s got citations.
I was not expecting warm fuzzies in my heart at this point. So bless you, Willis.
I’m super busy right now but I think I OWE it to you guys to draw that butt squeeze. Probably in a week or something. And you the commenters can vote on who’s butt gets squeezed along with arguments for who’s butt should be the squeezed butt.
I tried to come up with a thoughtful comment here, but I can’t seem to get past YAY BUTTS
So, uh, YAY BUTTS!
What about a circle of butt squeezing?
What you said above, Amber and Walky squeezing each other’s butts to determine whose is nicer.
Breaking Anime law here. You can only hang out on the roof of Middle School’s.
Middle School’s what?
Nice. More people to share the view.
Remember the scene at the end of ‘Justice League’ when they’re all standing on that roof watching the dust settle and the plants grow? Well, I think that this is a reference to that. At the end of a major arc with the heroes all together and drawing a breath.
Amber is very smug recently…
I like it
this is very sweet, I don’t think amber has ever looked cuter
please don’t say “leap of faith” while looking down from atop a building
Y’know, I do think that only the lack of a grappling hook is stopping Joyce from Batman Swinging off of that roof here and now!
Nah, Joyce is imagining reenacting the “I’m Flying” scene from Titanic with some hunky-but-pure guy.
Parlaying personal tragedy into a booty call? Yeah, I dig it.
I know the bubble is below Sarah but neither her nor Sal’s mouths are open but Joyce’s is. So was it Sarah or Sal who said that last line?
Sarah.
Sal would have had an accent for a statement that long.
“Opening up Garbage Roof to…
“Fr… fr-ends? Is that what you call them? When you trust? I don’t have a lot of experience with them.”
I sometimes wonder what could have been if Blaine just thought to himself “Ya know what? I screwed up, may as well just accept my punishment and move on with my life” instead of what he did that fateful day.

I wonder if Danny got an invitation.
The SAW series still won’t end…
Also, I had a feeling nothing good was coming in this storyline
